Ok, I was just coming here to see if anyone had heard about Steve Irwin's tragic death. I first saw the thread on the main cruise board and thought, WHAT???

So, I've been scouring the Internet to read all the stories. It seems that the stingray that got him punctured his chest and straight into his heart. They said that it's rare to just get stung by a stingray, but even more rare to die from it.

Exactly Amy, it took me some digging, but the official report is the poison didn't kill him, the barb puncturing him did. Even the ones out at Grand Cayman which are out in the wild, the barb is more like a long fingernail. For it to have been long enough to have punctured his heart, the ray he was messing with must have been a huge deepwater ray, not the kind the Caribbean ever sees.

Good Morning all!!!!

I hope everyone who has today off has a good day.
Like Diana said it's a cold and dreary day here. Luckily the sun is out right now but it's still very wet out.

Steve - I'm glad to hear you can rest today after working for 9 days straight. Hopefully you can watch thos boat races, get some scrapbooking done and enjoy some great BBQ ribs. Heck that sounds like a day I would enjoy!

I did see the news about Steve Irwin this morning. When I first heard about it I didn't know how it happened so of course I thought a crocodile got him. It's very unfortunate, especially becasue he had young children.

The news also talked about the State Police officer that died. He and his partner had been ambused by a fugutive they were looking for. Both he and his partner were shot at and his partner is still in the hospital. Both officers are local. The one who passed away has a 1yr old and he was supposed to celebrate his wedding anniversary this week.

OH, man, those veggies make me homesick for Illinois in September!!!!

I Love Florida but I can't grow those beautiful tomatoes and peppers!

I'm thinking some cut up with olive oil and a little sea salt.
Some roasted on the grill....the options are endless!

Roxann - I'm glad your daughter is ok. Knock on wood it was just a few scrapes and nothing worse.

Cindy - Hope the you and Cameron are able to get the garbage picked up quick and it's not to yucky soggy. I could imagine if Nick had to do it, he'd probably be grumbly the whole time but he would do it.
