Just wanted to wish all you first time cruisers good luck tonight/tomorrow morning with your excrusion/Palo bookings!

Congratulations to Cameron. That had to be so much fun for him.

Ilene sounds like you had a great time. I bet you are exhausted after all that shopping. :rotfl2:

I have to take the girls to gym and then I think I am going to WalMart. Wish me luck. I really hate shopping there but we need a lot of cleaning stuff and it is cheaper. There is going to be a super walmart here. Please tell me that it will be better and I will actually like shopping there.

Another beautiful day here. Hope to get all my work done early so I can lay in the pool this afternoon.

Hi Everyone. Back from the most wonderful camping weekend with my dd. (yup, eventhough it wasn't at Disney, LOL). I'm back from a most wonderful vacation weekend with my daughter. It could not
have been more perfect in anyway. Sunny and dry the whole weekend and 78 degrees! We left home at 1pm, hit the road and set my dd new gps for our campground in Scarborough. Projected time of arrival: 3:10. Somehow avoided all traffic and got there at 3:15..pretty good prediction from the GPS..I was impressed even though I thought it was a silly piece of
electronics and told my daughter you'd have to have alot of faith in electronics if you had no idea where you were headed (we knew where we were going having been there the year before). We got our site, not the exact one we asked for but 4 down from it and it was still fantastic, right on the beach under the pines. The sites at this place are exemplary (have
to pay $3 more/night for the beach site but SO worth it. My daughter and I will definately go back again. Somehow they even manage to get rid of the mosquitos for us..not a fluke as last year there were none either. We settled in, which took all of 10min and went to Shaws nearby to do our grocery shopping for the weekend. Then decided to go to Freeport to Harraseeket seafood for dinner. We set the GPS for LL Bean as this
is near to the seafood place. Well the thing took us to the middle of nowhere...literally.But I had an idea where we were and was able to get us back on track. We were actually only about 3 miles from where we needed to be. So much for ultimate faith in this little unit, LOL. This little place has been on the food channel, on Rachel Rays 40/day show, so youmay have
seen it. We got a seafood platter and split it but there was still enough for a whole other dinner and we had to trash it as we had no way to save it. It was shrimp, scallops, clams and fish over fries in a basket. Not at all healthy but delicious. We preceeded it with a cup of clam chowder and cornbread which was our mistake as we were not very hungry when
the seafood basket was came. Next we did the LL Bean outlet area. Many things were closing and this gave my daughter just a tease and she decided we needed to come back on Saturday, LOL. So we headed back too full and too tired to make a fire and smores :-(
We started Saturday leisurely. I got up around 7 and knitted and read a
magazine by the lake for awhile..ahhhh. Then dd got up and made us pancakes. I showered and dd decided that the outside of the camper was too grundgy so she started to wash it and it looked so good we made a plan that we (she) would finish it the next morning when we put the top down. After a snide remark from me about maybe we should use the
GPS, we headed back to the outlets (we camp but we don't really spend that much time at the site..too much to discover nearby). Well dd wore me out! Coach outlet, bead store, shoe stores (I got a new pair of ISLANDER CROCS ON SALE YAY), LL Bean of course and a custard ice cream along the way. We found out a Fiber Arts tour was occuring this weekend and
planned to do it on Sunday. We had planned to have dinner at our camp but got too hungry before we got back and wound up stopping at O"Naturals ( a yummy natural food place) but left enough room and time for a campfire and smores. We played dominoes and a couple of other games in the camper for awhile to relax and then Michelle wanted to
make the fire but she wasn't didn't have much luck, so Mommy stepped in with her girlscout skills and made a great fire that lasted until quite time at 10pm. From 8-10 the campground had Karyoke and you could hear it from our campsite. It was sooo funny and entertaining, not too loud, just right. The fire overlooked the lake and we sat quietly, laughing and listening to the songs and watched the view until it we were too tired. We
discussed how it's so sad that none of her friends like to camp and that how could they NOT like this. What was not to like. I said they must have either had a bad experience with it (someone made it too much work or too buggy or uncomfortable) or they never really tried it. It was a wonderful night. Sunday morn. we had our typical cold cereal
breakfast and packed up the camper (check out is at 11am). Then Michelle washed down the sides better and the camper looks really good now. We always enjoy looking at the other campers, ours seems so small but it suits us fine. It does need some repairs now so we have to see how much that will cost or maybe get another but we really like ours :-).
The campground allows us to park the trailer in a parking space (not the
campsite) after checkout, while we tour for the day. We went to only three of the stops on the Arts tour, a bead store, a lady who paints silk scarves (very beautiful) and my favorite was a woman who spins yarn, weaves baskets and makes jewelry. The profits go to a Tibetian school
that was established so the children could learn to read and write and keep
their culture as they are being prosecuted by their government. She was a really cool lady and I bought a beaded bracelet to support her efforts. She has even met the Dalai Lama and hosts a Tibetian monk during the winter. Very cool. Then me and my dd went to the Old Port in Portland. We had lunch at a place Oprah recommends called Mimi's. I had pain perdue
(fancy french toast) w pecan syrup. YUM! DD had a omelette with asparagus and mushrooms and jack cheese, also yummy. We browsed the rows of funky stores and headed back for our camper at 4:30. All set to leave at 5 we headed out. No traffic for 45min and I just as I was beginning to think this was all too easy VOILA the expected traffic.
It didn't bother me, the weather was still delightful, the company fantastic and the music quite relaxing but it did take us an hour longer to get home than to get there. My dd has a song she plays called Live Like You Were Dying...and it was just that kind of weekend that made me appreciate just being alive.

Have a great day everyone! (if your still reading, LOL)
Sounds like a GREAT time, Ilene!!!

Well, what a way to start a Monday morning. Chris just called to say that he smashed up the car. He said that some guy in front of him slammed on his brakes and Chris did the same, but slid right into him. He's ok, but he said that the car is pretty smashed up and he can't open the drivers door. I guess we'll have to wait to see how bad it is after we call USAA insurance.

So sorry to hear about Chris and the car! :grouphug:

Ilene....I enjoyed your long post. We used to camp often when I girls were young, but haven't been for quite a while. DVC does spoil you! Reading about your trip made me long for those simple times!

Oh Amy - I'm so sorry. I hope Chris is ok. Make sure he gets checked. With his recent surgery he needs to be careful.

Here's hoping you don't have too much hassle with the insurance company as well.

I hope that Chris is okay. pixiedust: Bummer about the car.

Amy, thats why they call them ACCIDENTS at least he wasnt injured. I see way to many less fortunate people all too often. I hope the car is repairable.

Oh AMY I am soooooooooo glad Chris is ok!!!

Thanks guys!! I went to go get Chris and bring him to work, while the tow-truck took the car to the body shop. It doesn't look too good. The car is actually kinda old (1998 Sebring Convertible), so I'm thinking that it's a good chance that the car is totalled. But, we'll just wait to see.

And, Chris and the guy in the other car were just fine. Just damage to both cars, but it looks like ours took most of the damage. It could have been much worse, since there were several cars that could have been involved, but several of them were able to swerve off.

So, it looks like we'll be a one car family for a while. But, looking at the way we do things around here, we might actually stay that way for a while if the car is totalled. I'd much rather save some money having one car, so that we can buy our next car without having a huge car payment.

Ok, on to the fun stuff!!!

Amy so glad that Chris is ok. Sorry to hear about your car. It is a pain to only have one car when you are used to having two.

I was just watching the news and they said that gas is going up again. I don't think I can take it much longer. I just bought it for $2.87 and across the street it was $3.19. It just doesn't make any sense.

Just got the mail and there was a letter from Disney about the Food and Wine Fest. telling all about it and how you should call on July 31 to register. I think they are a little late. :rotfl2: We also got something from Disney Visa and they are going to have a Tink card. :tinker: I can't wait to get it. I am going to call and order it today.

Ilene - sounds like you had a nice little Mother/daughter trip. Trips like that are fun.

Amy - :wizard: for Chris. Glad he was not hurt but I agree with Mary about amybe getting checked out especially since he did have his little surgery not that long ago, just to be on the safe side.

Amy sorry to hear about Chris's accident. Glad he wasn't hurt.

I was going to get gas on Thursday before leaving for SC and I found a gas station that was at $2.99 the 2 stations just before that one were at $3.17. While I was pumping my gas I noticed they were changing the sign at the road to $3.16. While in South Carolina we got gas for $2.74!:Pinkbounc

Oh, I want the Tink card too! I'll have to call this week and get one.

See, and that's kinda like me and OKW. I live in FL, so when I go on vacation, I love going where the theming is SO different from where I live. That's why we fell in love with VWL. When you step in the lobby, it's like you're transformed right out of FL.

I think this is an interesting theory. Here is the thing. I live near Cape May, NJ so I'm not sure if I would like the Yacht and Beach Club Villas!

Nope, doesn't hold. I'm from south shore, MA near cape cod and Yacht and Beach is my FAV resort.
