This morning I'm off to get a pedicure. Thank you to the lovely ladies from SSMC05. If we never had that discussion I never would have gone for my first one. Now I think I'll make it part of my pre-cruise ritual.

After yesterday, I really need one. My feet are still so dirty from walking in the dirt and planting the garden.

Walker & I worked really hard yesterday. We planted the entire garden -- my 6 year old even had me working on the rototiller - something I never did before but Walker knew exactly how to work it based on watching Gary. The little bugger was right too.

We weeded and transplanted along both sides of my garage. A big job.

I cut the lawn (since my 11 year old gardener this year was camping for the weekend :teeth: ).

We planted some flowers. Not done with that -- need another trip to the nursery to buy the rest but we are definately on a roll.

As if that wasn't enough, Walker had an early afternoon soccer game. Tied 2-2! A big accomplishment for his team. Walker is a power house out there -- it's definately "his" game!

Last night Walker told me that "hard work is hard". I laughed and said that's why the call it "hard". :rotfl2: Then he told me that Gary won't even recognize the place when he gets home today. It wasn't that bad, but in his eyes, it's his way of saying we did good.

Now that almost everything is planted, I'm going to hope for some rain but I know we won't get any and I"ll be out there watering every day.

Walker has to complete a scrapbook page this morning for his teacher's end of the year gift. Trying to get a 6 year old to come up with phrases about the school year is tough. Every question I asked him, he'd tell me that answer was math....his most favorite subject. What is Mrs. M special?? Because she taught me math. What will you remember about Mrs. M? That she taught me math? What did you learn? That she taught me math? Ohhh, it's definately going to be unique!!!!

We are off to Gary's sisters later this morning. Gary & Cameron are going to meet us there as they are camping right in that area. Have a good day everyone.

Good morning all! You're right, it was quiet around here yesterday. I was busy in my office/scraproom trying to get organized. I still have a long way to go, but I was successful in finding the bottom of my desk.

Amy, you have got to post a picture of this room! :lmao: Maybe one of us can submit it to Clean Sweep for you and then you won't have to do all this work!!

I'm actually trying to come up with a better idea of how to organize all this stuff. I have those 12 x 12 drawers and those are great, but I never use anything in the drawers, everything I use I keep in my rolling tote.....so what's the point?

I was also thinking about getting a cute girlie border for this room, like with Tink :goodvibes but I think Bruce would kill me because it's the computer room/office too and that would mean I've officially taken over every single room in the house. :lmao: He still has the garage though! No chance of me taking over out there. :scared:

I was cold and damp here yesterday, but it looks pretty sunny out there now. We've got to finish the garden bed today, but first, our local scrapbook store is having a garage sale today!! Anyone could buy a table for $5 and sell anything they have, they keep everything they make. I'm hoping to get some good bargains!!

Oh Diana - it was REALLY bad!! And, I have only scratched the surface yesterday. Actually, it was the mouse in the house last week that helped me. Chris had to move ALL the stuff under my desk to the dining room table. Well, the only way that I can get the dining room table back is to start cleaning up and organizing. So, for now, I have a bunch of boxes on the floor, organized into categories (paper, stickers, tools, embellishments, stamping stuff, paper kits, etc). I figure that once I get it all into categories, then I can get it organized. I have all of my paper in those vertical files, and I really love them.

Chris and I also share this room, so I know that he won't let me go girly in here. Right now, it's painted a really pale yellow, since there is only one small window, so it keeps it light in here. Chris still has to hang some shelves in here, so that will help me too. I am thinking about either painting some words on the walls in here like CREATE, INSPIRE. Or, I'll alter some wooden letters and and hang them on the wall.

Amy - you go girl! I love the word idea, that's what I am thinking of doing. To help me get organized Matt and I designed a closet in our home (can't remember if I posted this before) using the Container Store Elfa and it's working out well.

with a majority of our stuff (love the CD racks for our music)

The cart rolls out which is amazing to use, now if I could load it into the car it would be so much easier! :rotfl2:

my next task is getting the room done - right now I just have a big table we bought at walmart (scary!).

Cindy - that is wonderful you were able to accomplish so much and Walker was such a big help! I laughed about the rototiller - he's so smart!

We too worked on the yard, but we just triimmed the bushes so they look nicer!

Julie -- your closet looks wonderful!!! Go Elfa! :cheer2: :cheer2: I've stopped in there many times -- I love the Container Store. But I've never knew anyone who actually had one built. Now I do. :teeth:

I don't do bushes. :scared: We only have about 70 that need to be trimmed. So, hiring the lawn care people to do that is well worth the money.

After mowing the lawn yesterday, I'm thinking we might have to rethink our decision to do it ourselves this year. We thought it would be a good job/responsibility for Cameron to take on this summer. I guess we're just use to someone else doing it for us -- it's nice to not have to worry about it.

But, I'm not sure my neighbors appreciated that we were the first stop of the day at 7 a.m.! :rolleyes1

Your closet looks awesome, Julie! When we moved our office to this room from what is now Madison's room, Chris built shelves in our office closet. It is helpful, but it is somewhat disorganized right now. Maybe, just maybe, in the next few weeks, I can show you guys pictures of my newly organized office (at least my side as Chris' is still a disaster :rotfl2: ).

WOW. Very nice job. We've done one closet that I'm not about to show pictures of, as it's not even close to that neat right now. Very neat and well laid out.

I wish I had yesterday- that north wind this morning is chilly! That's today's plan here, yesterday was spent JUST doing the basic stuff. Clean out the gutters, as our neighbor's tree drops this stuff which looks like large clumps of lace and it clogs them up in no time flat. I trimmed the evergreens, edged and leafblew it all up onto the lawn, which then Mary mowed as I am still far too beat up from work to do that much walking.

Today is rototiller then plant the Canna, the rest of the gardening will be when we get back.

Have a fun day.

Sorry I was out shopping. Cape May Cafe is good, there is also a character dinner at the Swan at Gullivers according to All Ears. I have never been there.

I was looking at the menus there, the buffet sounds interesting for adults, but doesn't seem that kid oriented, but they do have their own menu.

Thanks Cindy! Container Store has an awesome program where you bring in your measurements and they use the program so you can "see" your design. It's sort of 3 d but not really. Also, they have a sale in January and it's 30% off or so - which is when we did it, otherwise it would have been much more expensive.

I did the bushes cause my parents are coming on Friday after Dad's first visit to MD Anderson. I wanted the bushes to look nice. We already hire out the lawn service as we both work full time and the lawn mower broke :confused3

Thanks Amy!

Thanks Mark! We take no credit - it's the container store people who are good at their sales jobs :thumbsup2 . Glad to see you back around - we missed you!

Thanks, like I said the other day, work has been really REALLY busy, I spent all of Thursday in a bobcat making a new parking lot and am bruised all over, that is a very rough ride. But I've got the worst of it behind me now. :) Very looking forward to sailing next weekend.

I just love that wire shelving, it looks so lightweight, but that's deceptive, it can hold a lot more than you would think. It's also a lot easier to keep clean and neat than conventional types.

I've been trying to organize my scraproom, too. I have so much stuff - tons that looking at it now I know I'll never use - and no room to move around so it's making it hard to do anything. Right now I'm using a bedroom that has a couple curio cabinets in it, as well as shelves full of other "stuff". It's total mess. I really want to get it under control in the next month or two, though. We're about to start an addition to the house, adding a 3rd car bay and finishing out the attic. When that happens I'll be getting a craft room designed exactly how I want rather than just making a room work.

Cindy, wanna come do our yard next? Just kidding. ;) Sounds like you and Walker are a great team. And what a smarty he is. It's great that he's taking such pride in all his hard work, and that he already knows what "hard" work is.

I used to mow our lawn when I was in high school. My dad had a bad ankle so I usually did it for him. Our yard was so big, though, that it took 3-3 1/2 hours just to cut the grass. Not fun at all in the middle of summer! Today, on the other hand, we pay someone else to keep our yard looking nice. We don't even own a lawn mower. (Blame that on David as he owned this house before I even met him and has used the same service since he bought it.)

Julie, your closet looks great. I just love Elfa/Container Store. It is wonderful how they plan it all out for you, and give you a printout to follow when your hanging the stuff. We purchased some stuff back in January when it was on sale, too. We got some shelves to organize all our DVD's, and a rack to hang in the pantry. The shelves are up, but I'm still waiting for David to put up the pantry rack. We also got some stuff in August/September when they were having a shelving sale, but it wasn't the 30% off that they do for the January Elfa sale.

I know what you mean, Robin! One of my boxes of stuff is for eBay, since I know that I won't use it again. I figure that I'll just eBay that stuff to get a few bucks back.

You guys should check to see if your local scrapbook store does a garage sale. I just got back from mine where my friend had a table. She was cleaning up big time!! Everyone had some great stuff, I was there just to browse though as I'm saving all my money for the big NYC trip on Thursday.

Julie, your closet looks awesome, we don't have a Container Store here, but there is one near my Dad's, I'm sure Jeff knows where it is!

It's done nothing but pour here today. I hope Stacy didn't freeze to death or drown camping this weekend, because she's coming to the city with us on Thursday!! :cool1:
