Today was supposed to be the cool down day and now they are saying that's going to be tomorrow. I'm tired of not going outside, that's for sure.

I'm heading back to the gym today after an almost 2 week hiatus. If I don't post this afternoon, my classes killed me. :faint:

The emails have already started from my family about what to get the girls for their birthdays. I hate coming up with stuff like that. I have such a hard time. Emma's bday is Aug 28 and Julia's is Sept 30. Because all of Bruce's family lives in Ohio and all of my family lives in NYC, we do one big combined family party at the end of August. But this year because I'm going to WDW, I'm doing it on August 20th, which means I only have 2 weeks to through this whole shindig together. :headache:
Good luck with the birthday party planning. I can't imagine trying to get 2 families coordinated together for birthday parties.

I don't have to worry about it too much, since only my mom and aunt are here in FL and Chris's family only lives about an hour away. And, most of them never come anyway, just his mom and brother. And, now that Emily is in school, her birthday parties are pretty much just her friends now.

Just taking a minute to pop in and say hi! :wave2: Having a great time and the family reunion was great!!! My sisters and I drove so many places in NJ over last weekend we thought we had spent more time there than we had. :moped: Saw a few friends I have not seen in 30 + years - it's been great. :wizard: Most probably I will be home again on the weekend.
Glad to see that you're having fun, Mary!!!

Two weeks, Diana. With your organizaational skills and your go-attitude, that's a lot of time. You'll do fine.

How would your families accept the idea of Disney $$'s for the girls? Then they could pick out all the souveniers kids are always pining for at WDW. Easy way to kill two birds with one stone.

Well, I'm hoping for a productive day today. So, I'm forcing myself to turn off the computer for a few hours. I get WAY too distracted by it sometimes. So, I'm off to write a list of things to do today and get moving.

Happy Thursday everyone!!!

The funny thing is we lost power about an hour or so before the rain hit. It was bright and sunny out. :confused3

We were losing power for split seconds all day yesterday. I think Detroit Edison was having a problem keeping up with the electric usage.

We got the storms sometime after 3:30 this morning. From 9 last night until then we had constant lightening.

Gotta spend the day washing clothes and packing. We're leaving tomorrow morning for South Carolina. We're going down for my dad's family reunion. We'll be back Monday night sometime.

Gail, have a great time in South Carolina.

Mary , glad to hear you are having fun in NJ!

Diana, I like the Disney $$ suggestion too! (good job Cindy)

Going to se the Bears in training camp today! Hope the weather cooperates!

Welcome to our thread!!!
At the risk of sounding just a leeeeeeetle sarcastic... What updates? If you look back a few pages you will see a lot of us are upset about the lack of info.

Please stick around for moral support!!!

Welcome to the cruise and to the DIS, acourt.

Ever since we booked this cruise, my kids have been laying guilt on us (well not all my kids, just a certain college bound daughter) that we were going without them and they haven't been to WDW in three years, blah, blah, blah. And even though we are going for two days post cruise, that clearly is not enough of a fix. So, i just booked OKW for the week of May 28th. We have a wedding in Columbia, MD that weekend and will take off from there. Once I get inside the 7 month window, I hope to switch to the Beach Club Villas, since we haven't stayed there yet. Where some adult children wouldn't be caught dead traveling with their parents, mine are at least smart enough to see a free trip opportunity and grab it when it comes around :goodvibes

Does anyone have an octagon shaped window?

We having one put into our smaller bathroom and it occured to me today that I'm going to want to put some type of covering on it. A decorator I'm not so I'm curious, we can't just have a naked window there (especially an outside bathroom window  ), I wouldn't want to put a regular blind over it as being the window is going to be octagon shaped, it would have to be wider than the top of the window and that wouldn't look right. The same would be true for a curtain/drapery.

So, does anyone have a window this shape and if so, do you have some type of window covering on it?

I have an odd shaped window in my bathroom as well. Since the window is the only source of natural light, I found some "frosted" contact paper that I cut to shape and stuck to the window. You can peel it off if you ever move or get tired of it. There were many patterns to choose from and it was not very expensive.

Just a thought

Welcome to the DIS and the DCL forums. Most importantly welcome to the cruise meets thread for the DVC Member Cruise.

We would love to share any updates with us but sadly have not gotten any from DVC since back in January.

However if you would like to find out what this wacky group of cruisers have planned just click on the Member Cruise logo in my signature. That will take you to the Member Cruise page my DH and I set up.

We hope to see you continue posting and would love to get to know you. Cruising with friends, especially DIS friends, is the best!

CRUISE NEWS!!!!
Check your email folks!! We have Cruise News!!! :cool1: :cheer2:

You beat me to it, Diana. I just received my email.

I thought I would be the one to post first! Sheesh!

Welcome to the second edition of S.S. Member Cruise 2006 Cruise News, your exclusive source of information about our upcoming voyage. In this edition, we'll share more about our unique itinerary, fill you in on special activities you'll enjoy on Castaway Cay, and give you a hint of what to expect onboard the Disney Wonder®.

Setting course for a celebration
First, here’s the latest on the itinerary for our four-night cruise, "Celebrating Disney Milestones".

Day 1: Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and some special friends will welcome you aboard the Disney Wonder in Port Canaveral. After leaving port, you'll join your fellow Members for a special sail-away celebration as we head off to Castaway Cay. This one-of-a-kind event is exclusive to the S.S. Member Cruise 2006, with a whimsical theme chosen just for this year. (Here's a hint: Be ready to blow out the candles!)

Day 2:
Disembark at Castaway Cay, Disney's private island paradise, for a day of tropical adventures. Keep in mind that a variety of exciting shore excursions will be available on Castaway Cay.* And with another visit to the island planned for Day 4, your family will have time for more than one of these seaside experiences! While shore excursions can no longer be booked by phone, advance reservations can still be made by visiting the "My Cruise Plans" section on (Remember that shore excursions involve additional fees, and that all shore excursions are subject to availability.)

*Note: In a recent Disney Cruise Line® mailing, you may have received information about shore excursions in Nassau during the S.S. Member Cruise 2006. However, this information was incorrect. Castaway Cay is our only scheduled port-of-call for this year's voyage.

Day 3: Enjoy a relaxing day at sea, where you can enjoy a boatload of onboard events and games, splash around in several swimming pools, and experience new shows and celebrity appearances we've arranged just for the Member Cruise.

Day 4: We'll return to Castaway Cay for another day of fun in the sun. During this second visit to the island (part of our exclusive itinerary for the S.S. Member Cruise 2006), you can take part in Member activities, including "Membership Rocks"—a scavenger hunt for special-edition Member souvenirs!

Member Cruise keepsakes
While you're probably counting the days until our cruise sets sail, some Members have also asked how they'll be able to commemorate our voyage once it's complete. With that in mind, we're pleased to announce that a variety of S.S. Member Cruise 2006 merchandise will be available for purchase onboard! Of course, your family will also receive special Member gifts during the cruise—exclusive Disney Vacation Club creations you won't see anywhere else. We'll share more about Member merchandise in the next few months. Making reservations
Many onboard events on the S.S. Member Cruise 2006 don't require reservations, but there are some activities that can be pre-booked before our cruise departs. If you're staying in a Concierge Level 3 stateroom, you can make Concierge reservations up to 105 days in advance. If you've previously sailed aboard Disney Cruise Line, you're a Member of Castaway Club, and you can book certain club activities up to 90 days in advance. All other reservations can be made up to 75 days before the cruise begins, subject to availability. For more information and to make reservations, please visit the "My Cruise Plans" section on

What's on the horizon
Until we set sail in October, be on the lookout for more editions of S.S. Member Cruise 2006 Cruise News. In coming issues, we'll reveal even more about our exciting journey, including further details about onboard events, interviews with scheduled celebrity Guests, and the magical daily themes that will make our cruise one to remember forever! See you real soon
