First Chicago - then on to Detroit! Stay safe.

Since we're talking about weather I have to tell you what happened to us on Friday.

We went to the hospital to see a friend of ours. We got there about 6:30 and planned to stay until 8:00 when visiting hours are suppose to be over. While we were there it started to rain - sideways. Alot of lightening too. Thunderstorm warnings & Tornado watches were posted. The nurse came in and closed the blinds on the windows and told us we couldn't go near them. She came back 5 minutes later and pulled all the curtains around the beds and told us we would all have to stay within the curtain area until they got an ok for us to leave the hospital. She closed the door and left. So here we are, 4 grown adults stuck in this little area around the bed with the curtains pulled around us. The nurse didn't come back in until after 10 PM to let us out. At least she did offer us something to drink :teeth:

It sounds like the storms started in Michigan and then head our way for a change.

It was a rocky night, that's for sure.

Hi Tina,

Cindy and I are both from the Chicago area (she's in Schaumburg and I'm in Morton Grove). We'll have to have a mini-meet sometime this summer. Then we can show you our scrapbooks and tell you all about the cruise. If you don't mind meeting some crazy people from the internet. :lmao:

Hey, who are you calling crazy?? :rolleyes1 You must be talking to yourself again! :lmao: :lmao:

At least we don't bite and cheat!

Tina, I was really apprehensive last cruise having never sailed before. It turned out better than I could have ever imagined. I have no doubt that you won't be bored. There were a couple of nights my youngest fell asleep and my DH stayed with him in the room. I went to a show with some friends I met on this thread. Another night, I went up to Shutters and ran into other friends. The nice thing about meeting people online and at a pre-cruise meet is that you have a face that looks familiar on that big ship. Mark & Mary have done pins in the past (and will again this cruise) which everyone wears along with our lanyards. It's an easy way to spot another DIS'er. And, those conversations can be anywhere from a quick "hi" to as long as it turns out to be.

Glad your officially joining in! :thumbsup2

Amy - how could we forget you! You just name the date and we'll clear the calendar (unless it is the weekends of 5/26-28, 6/3-4, 6/23-25, or 8/18-20 - which are our May Cruise, Nascar race in Milwaukee, and Irish Fest in Milwaukee). We are also going to try and have a Michigan meet sometime this Spring/Summer. Any excuse to see DIS friends! :)

Mary, Mary, Mary. Don't you keep track of our calendar too? :rotfl2:

The last week of June is out as Cameron will be at Boy Scout Camp and I'll be much too nerveous. We'll probably take him there and pick him up.

And, the last week of July is out as we'll be in Hilton Head. :cheer2:

Mary,

That sounds wonderful! I would love to meet all of you, any weekend is ok with me except Memorial day weekend and the weekend before the 4th of July! Memorial day we will sort of be in WDW, My friend live there and we are going to visit him, and possibly catch a few days before our AP's expire on the first of July. July 4th weekend is Nashville, Adults only weekend! So we will have to set something up around all of busy schedules. BTW I am not too far from you guys at all...Woodridge!

My mother in law lives in Downers Grove --- her property backs up to Woodridge between 75th & 83rd Streets. That's where Gary grew up. Both Gary's brother & sister-in-law are letter carrier in Woodridge. Hey, maybe they deliver your mail!

Hi everyone... hope you're all doing well and anxiously counting down the days until SSMC06! Will and I are confirmed for a 7N-W sailing of the DM on 9/9 followed by 3N at DSSR. This will be our first trip back to FL since our move to TX. Just 153 days away - and we can't wait!

Several weeks ago, the question was asked about how to link reservations for dining onboard SSMC06. Mark has the right process in place on his website, collecting information from those who want to be part of the same dining rotation. The ship does not even think about arranging the dining rooms until two voyages before each sailing. Mark, if you don't have someone already, I recommend that you identify someone in Member Services who can assist in managing the requests through DCL when you get closer to the voyage date (probably in late September).

Last year, repeat cruisers made up more than 50% of the passenger manifest, the highest of any voyage in DCL history. Then again, it's DVC... would you expect anything else? With the uniqueness of the DVC Member Cruises, from passenger demographics to ports of call and everything in between, DCL and DVC make every effort to accommodate requests within their abilities and limitations.

Best wishes to everyone - friends and friends we've not yet met.
David

Hi David :wave2:

Nice to see you post. It's good to know that DCL doesn't work on seating too far ahead of time. It gives THIS procrastinator time to work out all the kinks.

Have fun on your cruise & at SSR. When your at SSR, watch out for the frogs at night -- they are all over the sidewalks. My kids thought it was great -- Mom, OTOH, was a bit skittish! :lmao:

Sorry Cindy I have a hard enough time keeping track of ours. With 4 of you that would be impossible for me. Guess we really should be looking at when we want to go to Michigan and also when we can get together here in Chicago. At least we won't be bored this Summer. :lmao:

Awe, come on. :confused3 It's not that bad.

We only juggle soccer, baseball, adventure guides, scouts, daycare meetings, daycare classes, doctor appointments, dentist appointments, vet visits and whatever else pops up. :crazy2:

I give single parents with active children a lot of credit. ::yes::

Welcome, Tina! :welcome:

This is the first Member's Cruise for us (my DH is curtdennis), but not our first Disney cruise. You really will have a great time!

Even though I'm a "newcomer" to the group, everyone here has been wonderfully friendly, helpful, and supportive. Believe it or not, I had less than 50 posts when I stumbled on to this thread back in the Fall... (And now they can't shut me up!)

Welcome aboard Tina! :cheer2:

Karen, it's funny because when I first joined the SSMC05 thread, I had around 300 posts in the 2 or 3 years I was on the DIS. Now I'm heading towards 3000

Wasn't it 2000 that you were saving for your official announcement of being able to book on SSMC06?

Isn't that when "Bruce the Shark" appeared? Gee, he hasn't posted in a while. ;)

Yup my official booking post was #2000.

Ya know, when I started the t-shirt voting I asked him again if he wanted to post. He looked at the screen said which one he liked and told me he doesn't need to post, I post enough for the whole entire family. :sad2: Then he went back to watching whateve History Channel show he was watching. My husband is a geek. :lmao:

We're hoping for sometime in July, probably close to the 4th, but we're not sure yet. We're still waiting for some scheduling conflicts. We'll let everyone know!!!

We're sorry that we won't be sailing with you, but I'm sure you & Will will have a GREAT time!!!

Thanks for the info. While I was on the Wonder in February, I was able to get a contact that does the seating. She wants me to get her all the info within a month of sailing and she'll see what she can do for us.

Gosh, Gary, your arm must be sore this morning.

Cameron told me you were on the DIS "all afternoon". He wasn't kidding, was he? ;)

Yippee!! Welcome to the group, Tina!!! You'll fit right into this silly group!!!

We'll have to start breaking out our GTKYFKC questions again!!

Well, not sure what happened to the storms - either they never made it here or I slept right through them. Unless of course they still haven't made it here. The "always correct" weather man said they would be here around 4-6 AM.

Last week I was laying in the sun at the pool, tonight we're expecting snow showers. There is definitely something wrong with that. Where's the sun, Where's the warm temps :sunny:

Gail, it went south thru Indiana and Ohio, the northern part of it kind of fizzled after it passed Lake Michigan. Probably see some rain today from the north on the backside of it, but nothing like that scary stuff we got west of you yesterday.

Thanks, I didn't think I could sleep through all of it. It's quite calm now, but the winds are suppose to kick up and bring in a cold front with snow showers - yuck!

Hey, I haven't biten someone in a while now! Why do I continue to get such a bum rap??

I haven't a clue as to how you got pegged as a biter?

Do you remember? :confused3
