My thoughts exactly! We are flying from the West Coast on Friday. Which means we have Friday night and all of Saturday before the cruise. We won't fly back until Saturday night (28th). We would like to do MNSSHP on Thursday night which leaves Friday the 27th for a Cruise. The Cruises are usually offered on the weekends because of the fireworks schedule.

I received and Pm'd back a few DISers that are interested in the Magical Gatherings Cruise. We have enough to get a Grand Gatherings number already. Anyone else interested please PM me. I have 11 paying and 2 lap kids already. I think the pontoon boat holds 30-35 for this type of Gathering. The night we did this in May there was actually 2 pontoon boats. So, there should be enough spaces for anyone who is interested.

Sorry I missed this thread before I suggested it as well. The boats hold around 60 and are HA incase anyone is in a chair or scooter and wants to go as well. We would be interested in the cruise. There will be 5 of us.

I'm so glad you guys brought up MNSSHP! (First I had to remember what it stood for). Not ever having been in WDW that time of year, I forgot all about it. Can someone point me to info on it or give me the 30 second spiel on what it entails? Thanks.

I didn't check the thread that Diana pointed out but we've been twice.

It runs from 7 p.m. - 12 a.m. Towards the end of the night, the parks are empty. It's very similar to the MVMCP if you have been to that, just a different theme (that's Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party so you don't have to look it up if your not famliar with that).

Most of the rides are open. The only one I can think that is a hit or miss is the Jungle Cruise.

There's always a special parade which is probably the only parade we make a point to see.

They have trick or treat stations around the park. When Cameron & I were there this year, they couldn't give us enough candy.

The first year we went they had fortune tellers which is what I looked forward to. I stood in this long line to have my fortune told. I remember it distinctly because the teller told me that I have big changes coming in my life with the children I was always around (I assumed my daycare) and it was such a positive change coming my way ------ and here's the kicker of that. I had recently took on 2 new children who have been more of a problem to me than any other children I've cared for in 11 years. Time after time, I've been blindsided by their behavior and many times have thought about ending the relationship. I was not disappointed that they didn't have them this year. :rotfl2:

The parks are decorated with these huge Mickey pumpkins. Great for taking some cool pictures.

It's fun. We enjoy it. And, look forward to doing it again next year if it works out with the timing of our trip. :cool1:

Send me a Pm with first and last names, ages of kids and a contact email/phone number. When I hear from everyone I will get more information from your family.

I will try for the Friday night after the member cruise (as long as the cruise will be happening that night).

Roxann

Thanks for everyone's insite on MNSSHP! We will definately try to get tickets for this while we are there. Sounds like LTT would be fun! The MNSSHP starts at 7 pm, but you can get into the park @ 4 pm. So, I assume an early dinner @ LTT would be a good idea.

What is the weather like the end of October? We have some old water park passes that we thought of using. Is it warm enough to consider water parks for the end of October?

Mary- I like the idea of pirate costumes. I could have my Mom sew us some costumes. Will there be a pirate night on the cruise? I like to try to pack light if at all possible.

We have wonderful weather here in October and it is definitely still quite warm.

I know that last year we had Pirate night, so I hope that we'll have it again on this cruise.

I know Amy commented about the weather but I will too. We've been to WDW 2 times in October. One time it was hot as hot can be and perfect for pools & water parks. Another time it was unseasonably cold and we couldn't get warm enough. We had sweatshirts with us but ended up buying another set to double up -- and still we chilled.

I'm not sure how it will work this year for dining arrangements, but in the past the day MNSSHP tickets went on sale you could also book LTT for the party night - and it normally sells out fast. We love eating there!

We have been in Oct when it was 90 out and then been there when it was getting into the 40's at night and still very chilly and windy in the daytime. I suggest you bring shorts and jean and maybe a lightweight jacket. We didnt have any jackets last Oct and had to go out and buy some. We also did LTT at 5:30 and then were out just a little before 7. Still gives you time to go get your wristband.

Roxann - there was pirate night on the last one and I bet there will be one on this one as well. If you check the trip report Mark did from the last Member cruise you'll see we had some very well dressed DIS pirates in Fireplug and his wife. Steve even won as best pirate up on deck during the party!

Is anyone else getting as excited as I am with all this talk about planning for the cruise? :Pinkbounc I'm never going to survive the next 10 months!! :faint:

It does seem to make it more and more real. Of course paying off the cash portion this week made it feel real as well. Just think in only a few more days we can say "we're cruising this year'!

Yes you are. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Because we're all going to suffer through the next 10 months together. If we have to wait, at least we can do it together!! :disrocks:

And, I'm anticipating where this thread is going to lead. We had some good laughs on the last thread.........I'm curious to see if we have any memorable moments come out of this cruise (like Lisa's goat story :rotfl: ).

:cheer2: I am SO totally excited to make some plans for this cruise. I think that it's going to be so much fun. Plus, we've got friends from this past year's cruise, and some great new friends for this year's cruise. I just can't wait!!!

Ooohhh, I love that idea!!! Just a few more days!!!

So, speaking of next year, what are everyone's New Years Eve plans? We hadn't made any, but my mom called this morning to say that she would watch the girls if we wanted to do something. We have 2 ideas at this moment. We were invited to a party, but I really don't think that we would know that many people. I would only know 1 or 2 and Chris would only know a few more. Or, the Barenaked Ladies are playing a show in Tampa. They are offering free tickets (I'm sure in the rafters) to go to the show if you donate blood this week. And, since Chris and I are regular blood donors anyway, and weren't able to donate a few weeks ago because we had colds. We're thinking that might just be an option. But then, part of me just says, stay at home, in the comfort of your own place, rent some movies (or see some new ones that we just got for Christmas), start a fire and relax. Decisions, decisions, decisions!!!

10 months does sound like a long time, but as far as I'm concerned once it's under a year, it doesn't seem too bad. And like someone said, next week we can say we are cruising this year.

We're going out with friends to dinner and then to see King Kong

We don't have any either. I have to laugh at your last line there -- start a fire and relax. Somehow I don't picture fireplaces in Florida. :rotfl2: Actually, that's not a bad idea.

We'll be home. I hate to go out of New Years Eve. It's a scary night to me to put my family on the roads. We are going to Gary's sister's house on New Years Day. So, NYE, We'll make some steak on the grill, maybe I'll pick up a couple lobster tails to go with them, baked potatoes, salad and some french bread.

I do have a funny New Years Eve story. Many years ago, I bought tickets for 6 of us to go see Kenny Rogers. I bought the best tickets I could at the time. My BIL invited some friends of theirs to go with -- friends of theirs that have lots of money and my BIL wanted to make sure the evening was perfect. That was his first mistake. ;)

We made dinner reservations at a upper end restaurant out by Pheasant Run (Amy, know where that is? :) ). Apparently, a lot of other people did too because the restaurant was packed to the gills. We sat, we waiting, we drank, we had appetizers and we waited some more. It was getting close to the time our Kenny Rogers show was going to start. So, we had to leave without dinner -- just appetizers.

Which then made us late for the show. By the time we got there, parked, and went in, it was packed to the gills also. The seats I bought we already occuppied by other people. It didn't really matter, there was no way we could get through the crowd to get up there anyway. So, we stood, in the very back listening to the concert. At midnight, lights went out, Happy New Year was said, when they came back on, Kenny was gone. No good night, no Happy New Year, no thanks for coming......nothing.

So, by the time, it's midnight, we haven't had any real dinner and we're hungry. Did you ever try and find a restaurant on New Years Eve after midnight that's open? I don't recommend it. I commented, we'll probably end up at a Denny's. My sister gave me a look of death, remember we are with their friends who they are wanting to make a perfect evening for. Not that they were looking to impress them, I think they were just trying to reciprocate for all the times the friends went above and beyond. So, we drive around, and areound, and around. Nothing is open.

Guess where we ended up? Denny's. Sure enough, it was open and packed. So, we go in, only table available is in non-smoking. Okay, fine, Gary & I don't smoke but the other 4 do. We get something to eat and my BIL and his friend light up a cigarette. OMG, the waitress about died. :earseek: We about died. :earseek: (Good thing the friend of my BIL & sister is a funeral director) because we wanted to die. OMG, just bury us there. :earseek: The waitress is getting upset, the other patrons in the restaurant are getting upset. The friend and my BIL refused to put out the cigarettes. :earseek:

It certainly was an experience --- and now that I think about it, the last concert I have been too.

Which reminds me, it's time for my annual phone call to my sister asking what her plans are for NYE. :rotfl: :rotfl:
