Our family might be interested in a fireworks cruise BEFORE the Members Cruise but we also wonder what DVC might be planning for the days prior to sailing. Can anyone tell us what organized activities actually occurred prior to the previous Members Cruises?

Hi Mike,

DVC didn't do anything special the night before the 2003 Member Cruise. Last year they did hold a bon voyage part at Pleasure Island the night before. I don't think anyone has heard of any plans for before the 2006 cruise. I'm sure those of us who are in the area the night before will be planning some type of meet like we did before the party last year. So you may want to keep the evening open if you want to be part of that.

I have no details but DVC also arranged for the Pirate Treasure hunt. I never heard anything about it from those who went. It was at a cost of $50 per person and it was arranged through DVC.

Cindy- you are right - I forgot about that part. Guess because we left the party before it even really got started. Boy were we fried that night. We learned our lesson and will not try and squeeze in 3 different meets with 3 different cruise groups in the same day. :rotfl:

Hello all.... I am new to the boards so I wanted to drop in and say hi. Myself and my fiancee' are DVC owners at Saratoga Springs and we will also be joining you all on the 2006 Member cruise. This we will be our first member cruise, but it will be our 3rd DCL cruise. We went on one in April 2005 and we will be leaving on the Magic on January 14, 2006 for our western cruise. I am soooooo excited about getting to go on DCL twice in one year.... Plus we are planning a WDW wedding for January 14, 2007 so I have to go to WDW for a planning session next year too.. Is it sad that I have used all my vacation time next year to Disney stuff... LOL... :rotfl: People have been making fun of me for it. Anyway I always love to meet new people so I hope that I will get to meet some of you on the ship. I have been around reading for a while, but I so excited to finally take part in the discussions....

Welcome to fun central!!
The ride starts out slow but it's a dousy towards the end so please keep your hands in the ride vehicle at all times or it will come to a complete stop!! :rotfl2:

Welcome to the group Jennifer, nice to have you aboard!

I like the doormat!

:rotfl2: stepping slowly away from the computer before you all throw snowballs at me.

WELCOME JENNIFER!

You're funny!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl:
Although you could probably use some melted snowballs in parts of Texas right now with the wildfires.

I'm thinking the doormat might make a better magnet. We could do them and put them at the bottom of our doors.

I really, really like that idea!!!
You have some great ideas Mary!!

Any cruisers staying after the cruise that would be interested in booking a Grand Gatherings Fireworks Cruise with our family of three?

I would do the leg work for this by contacting MS and setting up a Grand Gatherings Number. I would need a PM from your group with lots of information such as first and last names, ages of kids, confirmation numbers, dates, party size, etc.

Then at 90 days I would make the Fireworks Cruise Reservation using our Grand Gatherings Number. Each family has up until 45 days of the fireworks cruise to make payment.

We did this with DH's family in May and it was the highlight of the trip. You meet at the Contemporary Marina and have a dessert buffet 45 minutes prior to sailing. Everyone gets a Magical Fireworks Voyage Pin. When you sail you have fun with a pirate host, watch the electrical water parade and then the Wishes Music is piped in and you watch the fireworks from the water. A story of Peter Pan told by the pirate when you go back to the Marina and a mmet and greet with Peter Pan afterwards. You meet Smee and Captain Hook before you sail. The cost is $34.99 for ages 10 and older and $19.99 for ages 3-9.

I can get a grand gatherings number anytime. The October schedule should be posted around June. The cruise can be booked @ 90 days. I was thinking for the Friday after the cruise 10-27-06. Could be made for the Saturday before the Cruise 10-21-06 (just not sure what DVC has planned prior to sailing for the members this year).

If anyone is interested send me a PM. I believe the pontoon holds around 30 people. Could be VERY fun!

Roxann

Ok GMTA!

That thought crossed my mind too but with the holidays it didn't get very far.
I think that's cool. Might have to check out some other Grand Gatherings options too to see what they offer.

Hey Stacy--I was in your Target this morning and that nasty soda you like is on clearance! :rotfl2: Does anyone need me to pick them up a 6 pk of what was that you said it was Turkey and Cranberry soda? :crazy2:

My thoughts exactly! We are flying from the West Coast on Friday. Which means we have Friday night and all of Saturday before the cruise. We won't fly back until Saturday night (28th). We would like to do MNSSHP on Thursday night which leaves Friday the 27th for a Cruise. The Cruises are usually offered on the weekends because of the fireworks schedule.

I received and Pm'd back a few DISers that are interested in the Magical Gatherings Cruise. We have enough to get a Grand Gatherings number already. Anyone else interested please PM me. I have 11 paying and 2 lap kids already. I think the pontoon boat holds 30-35 for this type of Gathering. The night we did this in May there was actually 2 pontoon boats. So, there should be enough spaces for anyone who is interested.

Stacy-we've still got a few packs of the Jones soda left at our store if you're interested:drinking:
I bought a pack (couldn't resist the clearance price and my Team Member discount) and took it to NJ with us for Christmas. DD and I tasted every bottle but couldn't convince anyone else to try it. The cranberry was delicious-but I have just one word for the other flavors-YUCK!

Roxann - I think it sounds great and have already pm'd you our info. One question. Sounds like these boats are bigger than the ones for Illuminations. Am I correct? I thought those only held about 12 or so.

Sounds like we have the same itinerary already! I'm hoping to do MNSSHP on Thurs night when we return and leave on Saturday if we drive or Sunday morning if we fly!

Pretty close to what we'll be doing but we are planning on flying home late Saturday. It's too hard to come home on Sunday night and get the kids off to school Monday morning. Me, I've learned, take the Monday off after all vacations. :teeth:

I can't even book airfare for March yet.....I'm sure October is a long way away for us to even think about flying.

I'm not sure what our plan is yet, but we'll probably spend Sat night at WDW before, then do MNSSHP on Thurs when we return. We'll probably drive home on Saturday afternoon.

Oh great, thanks for the reminder! Emma will be in preschool!! :rotfl2: I'll need to get home!! :rotfl: :rotfl2:

We can only book with Southwest until June right now. I got dinged $34 each way for January the other day and used every ounce of self control I had to not just book a little solo weekend for myself.

Amy, the funny thing is that we were not set in our plans until tonight. :rotfl2: Somehow it's all fallen into place.

I do know we probably would have done WDW after the cruise and not Vero just because of the timing of the F&W. Cameron really enjoyed it and still talks about the beef he had at Australia. So much so, that he was already planning on going back. So, we'll have to save Vero for another time. :flower:

I'm sure missing that day of preschool will set her back years in her studies. ;)

What the heck is a ding? :confused3

I bought it at the marked down price on christmas eve.
I have a little left over if you want to try any!? :rotfl2:
The Cranberry wasn't bad, it tasted like carbonated cranberry juice but the other flavors were interesting.
It's just one of those things you have to try!

Jones Sodas are reeally good though. I really like the cream soda.
