Stay away from the concourse steakhouse. Overpriced and not very good. Supposedly it's gotten better laely, but with other better places to eat, it's not worth it. For Steak, try LeCelliar in Canada, not as pricey as Yachtsmen, but up there in quality. I also vote for the Boma Coma. Boma is one of the best places at WDW. Spoodles is also very good. If you give me a better idea of what your looking for, Jeff and I can usually lead you to the right place, we've been to every eatery at WDW, including the Sand Trap Bar and Grill (Jeff has been there and swears it's the best burger on property bar none) I'll buy a drink for the first person to PM me with the correct location of the Sand Trap Bar and Grill....

I'm thinking of where our family wants to have dinner on Friday, May 13. We arrive into MCO around 4:00 and are staying at the Hyatt. My original plan was to go to DDD and eat dinner there, but nothing looks great.

We have never been to the Boardwalk, AKL, Beachclub . . . We love a good steak and the menu at Contempory Concourse Steakhouse looks perfect, but I'm not thrilled about going to the Contempory.

Can anyone recommend a good (not extremely expensive) restaurant?

Thanks.

Jiko is an excellent place to dine! The environment is awesome. The prices are in the mid 20s for most entrees. If you are a steak fan, they have Filet with Mac & Cheese. It is excellent. The lamb, monk fish, lamb shank, and scallops are outstanding as well. If you are a fan of wine, their South African selection is outstanding as well. Mmmm all of this food talk is making me hungry!! :rotfl2:

Flying Fish @ the Boardwalk is great as well. Ohanas, um what esle...

The Orlando Food Critic has given good reviews to Hemisphere which is the gourmet restaurant at the Hyatt Orlando Airport. So if you are running late, or tired and don't want to all the way out to Disney, you have an option really close by.

We love Le Cellier in Canada. Yachtsman Steakhouse is just way overpriced and is not a good value for price paid. California Grill is always a fine choice. We dined at Citircos recently and enjoyed it.

Food at Animal Kingdom Lodge is always outstanding. I've not had a bad meal at that resort yet -- fast food Mara included.

Stay away from Wolfgang Pucks and Bongo's at Downtown Disney -- expensive mediocre food. Portobello isn't all that bad.

The challenge: So many good places to choose from!

and YOU got this invitation because?????........:rotfl2:
Okay all you weathered scrubby charactery pirates out there...... are you willing to give up your cruise to film with Johnny Depp? :cool1:
I never said that I got an invitation. I said it was in an e-mail. The e-mail was from an officer in our Parrothead club along with other announcemnets.
I am nothing special o.k.?

Le Cellier in Canada . . . Loved it too! But, we won't have tickets to Epcot, so it is probably out of the question for this trip.

Ok, you guys have talked me out of the Steakhouse at the Contemporary and the Yachtsman. I'm not sure about the Animal Kingdom restaurants....

Dinner, of course, is important, but I'd like to see one of the resorts we've never been to before.

I'd love to visit the Boardwalk. I think the kids would like it there, too. Does Spoodles take PS? What if I can't get one, can I just walk in?

Any comments on the restaurants at the Wilderness Lodge?

One more ?? . . . .

Are the Beach Club and the Boardwalk connected? Can I walk from one to the other?

They are two resorts I have wanted to visit. Can I just walk in and head to the restaurants without having a room?

Oh yes they are connected by a nice boardwalk or you can take the boat over.

All of the Boardwalk Restaurants are seperate from the Hotel and any restaurant in WDW you can go to without have a reservation at the hotel.

Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of our favorite eating places at WDW. It's becoming a mandatory stop on almost every trip. No ticket needed to get into a park and the decor is awesome. Make sure to go out and see the animals around the hotel before or after dinner. It is a buffet so you can sample a range of wonderful dishes or concentrate on favorites. And yes, please bring us some Zebra Domes too!!!

At Wilderness Lodge the best place is Artist Point, a little fancier than Boma but wonderful food. If you want to try Buffalo this is the place. The Cedar Plank salmon is also wonderful.

We also Thought Boma was great,

However Boma is more I would say adult themed menu ? different ?

OH Yea Helping SCOTT H.

Have a Fantasmic Friday.... :teeth:

Oh I so disagree with this!!!!! :sunny:
Every trip with my Mom we go to Yachtsmen and have an amazing meal for the price paid. It is the best steak on property bar none, and I don't usually order the steak because the seafood is sooooooo yummy!

Citricos has gotten much better. We were just there for Amy's birthday with Catherine and had a great meal...

I also love Bongos' best Mojito on property. The main dining room for Wolfgang's is good and is their sushi. With DDE, the prices of most of these places is reasonable....

Okay I got multiple replies to my where's the Sand Trap, it's at the Golf Club known as Bonnet Creek or Eagle Pines... Peter got it in first, but said to give the drinks to the next person so I owe a drink to peter (cause it's only fair) and to Randall...
Find me in Diversions and we'lll make it happen!

That is exactly the info I need for the dinnertime at the Hyatt on the 13th! There are a bunch of people arriving on the 13th at various times and I'd like to say HI to 'em all but one requirement is a good dinner....Can't very well hang out in the Hyatt lobby waiting for DISers on an empty stomach! Maybe the Hemisphere is a good solution...What do you think, Hyatt dinner DIS-meeters?

Liz: u welcome............... When you posted your post I figured there has to be something out there, so I started searching ------

Life is getting back to normal well kinda, but the dust has settled. What a week I need a vacation. Seems like I think I need them more often.

Fantasmic Friday for sure, Peter, thanks for the help.

Boma is very good in our book. Artist Pallet is also good, I think the salmon is seasonal.

We like Bongos. I will have to try one of their Mojito’s. We also like Bahama Breeze off property.

The good news for us, early last week, was we got a DVC add on at HH.

Congrats to Peter and Randall on Jen’s question, bummer I wasn’t available to check the boards last night.

I am working on my own special drink mix for the cruise. A boat drink base of sorts that Lynn can have without rum. So far it is 2 qt’s water add 1 package (little tub) of Orange Crystal Lite, 1 package of Strawberry Banana Orange Crystal Lite, Pina Colada Mix to taste.

Okay, what's a Zebra Dome? I want one and I don't even know what it is!
