Our DD is a Brownie and she did the whole selling thing... But we were good and only bought 5 boxes. Our council is selling them for 4.00 a box. Think of all the money I saved towards DCL! :cheer2:

I didn't want to spend the money for my family either. After all the debates, here's the logic that finally made me spend the money...

Based on what I've experienced post 9/11 on DCL, you will have to have your driver's license with you to get on and off the ship at the various ports-of-call. Now what if you were to loose your driver's license or have it stolen? You will not only have troubles getting back on the ship, you will also have problems with immigration on LA and won't be allowed on your flight back home.

Now if you have a Passport, you can keep it locked in your cabin. The loss of your driver's license will only delay you getting back on the ship (the time it takes a member of your party to return to your cabin and retrieve your passport). You will then still have the passport for immigration and boarding your plane.

I'm sorry you've lost your job, especially this close to the cruise. But if the loss of your job is a make or break for spending money on passports, perhaps it should be the make or break for spending the money to go on a 14 day cruise.

I've always packed our passports with us in my fanny pack when we left the ship. So if for some unknown reason we ever missed the ship at the dock we could get to the next country. A driver's license won't do that if you get stuck.

Linda

The other thing is you can use a copy of your passport as ID if your orginal is lost until you get home....

Yes... The coconut was removable... very creative + cute. DEFINITELY ready-made for scrapbooking!!! On it it says "We scent you something special. Give it a little scratch, and let the aroma of the tropics whisk you away to a coconutty island wonderland."

It smells just like coconut.

At the bottom they say:

Instant Palo Souffle:
1. Go on a Disney Cruise.
2, Dine at Palo
3. Order souffle

:rotfl2:

The outside of the mailer would be perfect for scrapbooking too! There are weathered luggage tags with different characters and destinations. :goodvibes

I wonder if Martha Stewart can make a souffle like they do at Palos? :rotfl: She will have time on her hands now at home to try it LOL

Glad the weekend is here! I am on call, but at least I do not have to be in my office... I should be as I have TONS of work to do. But there is always another day for that

Heading to some library book sales tomorrow to pick up some books for the cruise.

What are some types of books that others are interested in? We can keep that in mind so there will be books to share on the ship.

Debbie

:wave2: Hi Peter

Here's the recipe for...

Palo Chocolate Souffle :goodvibes
(6 Servings)

3 tablespoons butter, plus more for greasing the souffle cups 6 tablespoons sugar; plus more for dusting the souffle cups
1 cup milk
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons Dutch-processed cocoa
2 ounces (2/3 cup) semisweet or bittersweet chocolate, melted 4 eggs, separated

1. Preheat oven to 350". Set a full kettle of water on to boil.
2. Butter six 4-ounce souffle cups and coat with sugar, set aside.
3. Bring milk to boil in small saucepan. Meanwhile, melt butter in
medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the flour and cocoa to the butter and beat with a whisk until it has a smooth, paste-like consistency. Reduce heat and cook for 1 minute.
4. Slowly add hot milk, whisking until smooth, then blend in melted chocolate. Let cool for 5 minutes, then stir in egg yolks.
5. Beat egg whites in separate bowl until frothy. Slowly add sugar, 1 table-
spoon at a time until glossy peaks form. Stir a heaping spoonful of egg
whites into the chocolate, then fold in the remaining whites just until combined.
6. Pour the batter into prepared souffle cups. Place cups in large baking dish and add enough boiling water to reach halfway up the sides of the souffle cups.
7. Bake for 20 minutes. Serve immediately with warm Vanilla Sauce.

Palo Vanilla Sauce for Souffle :goodvibes
1. Bring 1 1/4 cups heavy cream and 1/4 vanilla bean (split lengthwise) to
a low boil in saucepan over medium heat.
2. Combine 3 tablespoons sugar and 2 small egg yolks.
3. Add 2 spoonfuls of boiling cream to egg mixture and stir well, then pour back into the remaining cream and continue to cook over low heat, stirring constantly for 3 to 4 minutes.

Instant Palo Souffle
1. Go on a Disney cruise.
2. Dine at Palo.
3. Order souffle.

YUM! YUM! YUM!! :earsgirl:

Now.. what is the mysterious connection between the people that received Castaway Club Coconuts?? Did you all book with the same TA? Or not book with a TA but direct with DCL? Inquiring minds want to know....:rotfl2:

BTW We are now PAID IN FULL.... Whooo hoooo.. guess we're really going! LOL Not that there was ANY doubt!

Next up... transfer over all those Disney Reward points I've been saving up for the last year... pin cart here I come!

Linda... you HAD to bring up Samoa's?? YUM... along with Thin Mints and Tag-A-Longs.... I eat at least a box of each every year... and that's just ME... we don't want to discuss how many boxes of Thin Mints Joe can eat by himself. Even the extras we bought and had in the freezer are gone already!!

Bonzie1: You beat me to the recipe. Took G/baby home and was going to post recipe when I returned home. Good, saved me a lot of typing time. You are awesome.

Really sounds very very yummy

Hi everybody, I'm still around. How ya doin Lynda? and Cash? Georgie, I sent you an email, take a look. Hope I get a copy of the recipe. Did everybody get the DIS email announcing the name and other info on the new DCL ship? The
"Disney Dream". Also, other aspects of the ship. I assume that this announcement was for real.
Bill

Well I got the coconuts, but no e-mail about the new Disney Dreams ship!!! Does that put me in the NUT category?

We booked with Dreams, but I think that had no bearing. Watch that mailbox tomorrow! I was really impressed with the creativity of the mailer. But then... that's Disney! :flower:

Kay, I scanned in the coconut and saved it as a text only document. Then I had to edit it... no way could I have typed that one in! Maybe I have too much time on my hands! (no way that is true!)

I'm sure everyone will get one, maybe they got sent out alphabetically... we're close to the beginning of the alphabet!

I am so ready for this weekend! Fantasmic Friday is drawing to a close... Scott what's our word for Saturday?

Georgie, It is the DIS newsletter. YOu should have one as I am nobody special. It is under rumors and speculation. It appears that they are trying to say that the info they are giving out is not rumor. Somebody tell me if I am mistaken. Lot of good info there about the restaurants, pool, rooms, and decks. BUT, is this just more rumor or are they telling a fact? Maybe I just don't get it.
Bill

No cocnuts here but did get the email. Will work on Sat and the weekend.

Hi everyone :wave2:

I got several things today: ::MickeyMo My Mickey phones came via UPS, and I also got the coconut mailer with the recipe, received the passport info from DU, and also got the info on the new ship.

Bill, I'm with you...I don't know whether they are just repeating all the rumors that have been circulating, or if it is factual?

I'm so happy it is the weekend, and DD Aimee is coming home tomorrow on Spring break for a week!

Robin

There is a thread on the main page that is about the newsletter. Georgie, I forwarded the newsletter to you. Anybody else want me to forward it, let me know. I would just as soon not have more speculation on the new ship. Get me something concrete. Also, Hi Kay and Harry, Scott, Robin, and on and on.
Kendra, You should also be getting my check soon, it was mailed.
Bill

Bill: could you please forward the newsletter to me? I thought I was on their mailing list but perhaps not. I had heard some inside info on the third ship and I want to see if it matches up...LOL Email is DisneyPinDiva@aol.com

Thanks!

All done, Leslie. Let me know that it came through okay. You know, I am processor challenged.
Bill

Hi everyone! :wave2:

I think it's all speculation, based upon maybe someone who's in 'the know' that's seen the plans? But, I don't think it's underway... and I don't think anytime soon either. So.. I'm not holding my breath.

But it would be nice!

Thanks Bill re: the check! All going well? Hope so!

Have a great weekend everyone! :grouphug:

Bill: It hasn't shown up in my email yet... but you never know with AOL... it might me in delay mode or something. Did it bounce back to you?

Leslie, It didn't bounce back. I'll keep my eyes peeled and if it comes back, I'll commit Harry Carey,,,, HOLEY COW,,,,CUBS WIN!!!!! Then , I'll try it again looking for the reason it failed.
