20050514..May 14, 2005...Official Check in Disney's 1st 14 Day thru Panama Canal Part 2

Today the local news (Channel 9 - WFTV) reported that the space shuttle launch is expected been moved to May 15. Appearantly the natural lighting on that day is better than May 14. The decision is being reviewed and will be made today but I would assume this will happen.

This is good and bad. Traffic won't be as big an issue (good). I was really looking forward to seeing the launch from the ship (bad - for me at least).

Thanks to all that voted, design A was the most popular with 24 votes, design D with 20, and the original with 4. I will let Susan know, and hopefully we should be getting the pricing soon! More to follow.....

Have a great day everyone!

Well, I guess I could supply a list of all the music used, and anyone who orders a DVD would be on their honor to let me know which they have recordings of and which they don't. Then for each person, I could download and burn those songs on a CD from iTunes or another site. More time consuming for me, but it would help to appease the copyright gods :worship:

Actually, if you all just made sure you owned the "Disney's Greatest Hits" CDs, I think we'd be covered

If any of you record your own music and feel it would be suitable cruise music AND would be willing to allow its use, that would cut down on other copyrighted music that would have to be used.

Any other brilliant ideas out there?

I own LOTS of Disney music DVD's & Casette tapes. I would be more than will ing to offer my collection to use for the DVD.

Bye Kim

Robin, when I voted, the original was not there,,,,,I think there was also a problem with hanging CHADS. I am contacting the voting commission. I would have voted for the original, but the outcome would have been the same. I voted for D. Good morning everybody.

Thanks for the news about the launch. My DH was saying they don't make the final decisions on these things until close to the launch. Sometimes, the date is released only 2 weeks prior due to security issues.

We were looking forward to seeing this. I've heard it is something to see! Our last experience was in Feb '03 when the Columbis space shuttle was lost. We were all waiting in the parking lot, it was such a happy time. The minutes ticked by. Everyone thought they were taking another orbit. The we got the sad news. It was just awful.

The window of the possible launch dates is May 12 through June 20. Maybe there's still a chance for the 14th! :goodvibes

Back to work! :badpc:

Georgie, WHERE is your picture?????????????????? I need to see who I am talking to.

As nice as it would be, I assure you this is the last thing we actually want. You'll get a great view of the Launch from Castaway Cay without the insane traffic and logistic problems of the Cape on a Launch day.

It really is one of those things that sounds nice, but isn't.

And the list is updated with everything that I had in my PMs, Jen's PMs, and all the e-mail addresses. I have one unclaimed picture that I belive belongs to ashleydoc, and I'm just waiting them to confirm it. If your stuff isn't updated as of now to whatever the latest information is, then please send an email to jenkatt@gmail.com and we will update it as quickly as we can. We don't reply to every e-mail because we get so many, but just check here for the "It's all up to date" post by me or Jen and if it hasn't been changed on the list, then please resend. The additional "Did ya get my e-mail" e-mails just further complicate things. I'll be updating the list as fast as I can now that the cruise is on the not so distant horizon.

The deck plans and the events list are not updated as of now, I hope to have that finished later today

Bill, Yes I need to get my picture to JENKATT to be uploaded. In the meantime here's one with the 2 men in my life!!! I guess my time as a mystery woman is over!

got mine in the mail last night too! I haven't watched the DVD yet, but the brochures were great and I love the Pocket Map of Curacao. If you haven't ordered your free copies yet, be sure to go to the Curacao website. I also am saving the stuff since it will work in great for my Curacao scrapbooking page (always thinking ahead!).

One - Santa Ynez - GREAT place to go!! We're doing the Taste of Solvang 3/19 - 3/20 where we'll pig out on food (not so much wine) :teeth:

I got a package from Curacao tourism and all I got was a stinkin' brochure & mini map - no DVD. :(

That isn't really the issue. I have tons of Disney music as well. It's not that I need access to the songs; it's that I'm trying to stay away from violating copyright laws. If I use music on the DVD that any of you don't own, in a sense I'm giving you an illegal copy of that music. It would be like I made a copy of my Disney CD and gave it to all of you, which would be illegal. That's why I only use music provided by customers or purchase a copy of the music for them. The only option I can see so far would be to leave it up to you all to be honest about what music you already own and what you don't. Then download the music for each person that is needed and charge them the licensing fees. iTunes has a bunch of Disney for $0.99 each. And I'm figuring that a bunch of you already have a lot of Disney recordings. In that case, you probably won't have to pay for the music at all.

If I was just making a couple for my friends, that would be one thing, and I probably wouldn't worry about the laws (we've all done that, right?). But money will be changing hands and there will most likely be a large number of these produced, so I'd rather err on the side of caution.

But I'm open to music suggestions. Some obvious ones are "When You Wish Upon a Star," "A Pirate's Life," and "Be Our Guest," which I already made into a video for my family's last cruise. It isn't limited to Disney of course.

Thanks!

We ate at two GREAT restaurants while we were there. One in Santa Ynez called Grappolo's (had Valentine's dinner there) and one in Los Olivos called the Los Olivos Cafe (had lunch and it was terrific!). If you get a chance try them both!!

The one brochure had CURACAO on the front about 2/3 way down across the front in cool writing and then I think a sun. I was going to cut that out, then put red or blue cardstock behind it with 1/4 inch border and make that my "header" for the Curacao page! Easy to do, 2 minute project. I'm into simple and fast!

Linda: Can you tell me again what the Curacao web site is. Thanks - too lazy to go back through the threads to find it.

Also, has anyone heard how the Valentine surprise went - I don't remember hearing anything on the thread.
