Hi everyone......it has been awhile since checking in last.

I hope all is well with everyone.

Angie ....just doing my part to get us back to the first page.
Also, I found out the names of those medications I was talking to you and Dennis about on the cruise.
I will be emailing you soon.

We are proud owners of a 2004 Ford Explorer ( that is because our van couldn't pull the NEW camper we bought LAST month )

2005 is a big expense year for us so far.

Everything is pretty much the same as before except for the above update.

Oh....speaking of working, I am hardly do that anymore.
I am working my new 24 hour shift 7 or 8 days a month.

Got to find a part-time job or start some projects around the house.

We're heading up to DC to visit the Native American museum on Monday with the Boy Scout troop. I've never been there (or heard much about it), so I'll post if it's worth visiting

Please do. My parents were down last night (to watch the kids for today's eye surgery) and my mom said she and her girlfriends were going to DC in April to see this. They've had road trips to other places (Smoky Mtn's and Cherokee Museum, etc) It's nice she has a few friends to do things with. :)

Hey, Gus....I could find lots of things for you to do that my husband's 6-day-a-week schedule doesn't allow him to do!!

So far, the creek is still passable, but the rain has really been coming down. I called Jay a bit ago and told him that if he wants to spend the weekend in here with us he'd best get home. I even cooked dinner! And probably will have to for the next several nights. Oh well, what are ya gonna do?

Just thinking that winter should be over soon. The next cruise is not nearly close enough!!

Lisa, I like your picture on here...where was that?

updates for you.....Mike's eye surgery....they did it around 8am today. His pressure spiked so they had to keep checking it every hour or so. We didn't get out of there till noon! AND he has to go back tomorrow at 8:30 to be rechecked. The office isn't even open tomorrow, the doc is meeting him at the back door and taking him up! :earseek:

Update on Mike's mom....she is healing well from the surgery. Has good days and bad days emotionally. Starts chemo on Tuesday. :( Took the kids to a Christian bookstore today and they picked some things out for her to give her hope and courage....

well, at least that's what I ENCOURAGED them to do. KT got her a little bear/angel figurine and Nick got her a stained glass cat looking into a fishbowl. If nothing else, she'll look at those and smile while she thinks of her grandbabies and hopefully that will give her the aformentioned "hope and courage" to fight this! :)

Prayers and Pixie Dust for "Grandma Lightbulb"! Hope Mike is doing better in the morning, too...........

'Night, All!

Gus - I loved my Explorers. B4 DM and watching Nick and Emmy that was my favorite vehicle. Did you get the 6 or 8 cycl? I always had the 6. The RV show is this weekend and I am not going to make it, drat.

I got the V8....Limited , all the bells and whistles.

Never had a car with heated seats before.

Question Sue??????

I have to decide on whether to purchase extended warranty or not before I pick it up........did you get it with your Explorers?

I somehow came across a website which had complaints about the 04 Explorer's transmission problems.
No recalls.......... just complints from consumers.

Any problems with your transmissions?

Thanks Gus

Hi Gus! I'm not Sue, (not Lisa either!).......but my friend has a 2003 Explorer that has been parked in her garage for months. She has had it in numerous times for transmission trouble. She has it parked now because she didn't get the extended warranty, and can't afford to fix it again. She's been driving her boyfriend's spare truck.
I'm not saying anything bad about the Explorers...we just thought she's had bad luck, but it might say something for going ahead and getting the extended warranty.
I always get them on the vehicle that I think I am going to keep the longest. We've had a few cars that we knew we were only going to keep for a couple of years, and I didn't get the warranty on those....but if you're going to keep this one a while, then get it. I've had them pay for themselves every time. Just remember that you can "bargain" down on the price of the warranty. Last time, they gave me a cost of close to $2500 and I ended up getting it down to $900.

Thanks Stacey.......can I fly you up here to negotiate the extended warranty price for me.
Didn't know you could do that thankyou.
My jaw just dropped after giving the dealer my money and then finding all the complaints about the transmissions.

I found out that in '04 the wrong tranny fluid was installed at the factory and the fix is to add an additive.
The more I think of it I will get the extended warranty.

Thanks for your comments.

This is going to sound kinda funny...or maybe bragging...but it's true....NO ONE I know will go buy a new car without me. I make the sales people cry.
When I took Pete (My Megan's husband) to buy a new car, I wrangled with the guy who was selling the warranty, and he got mad and yelled at me to not bring any more people to him.....they have cameras in their offices....I went and got the boss and the guy got fired. I knew they over-price those warranties by more than half, and it made him mad that a woman was messing with him. He kept trying to talk down to me, and it wasn't working. I love doing it, it's fun for me. If you didn't have snow up there, I'd come in a heart beat.

Gus - I never had trouble with my Explorers trans. I would get the extended warr because of the towing. Just make sure the warr will be honored if you tow. Had a friend with a Blazer and they pulled a pop up. They really had a problem getting the dealer to repair a brake problem on the Blazer.

Let me know how you like the bells and whistles. I only did that once many years ago and still MISS it.

All of this talk about new cars/suv has me thinking. I wonder how many more trips I can make across the state with my 140,000 miles van?

I torn between being pleased it is still running well and hoping it will die so I can get something new.

I thought mermaids were supposed to be topless? And is that a microphone? Isn't that a little dangerous underwater?

I was going to report this posting, but than thought better. I don't think we want to draw any attention to our little thread here.

I did a search and he put a link in 3 different threads throughout the DIS. I used one of them to report him.
