Hey Stacey - everthing OK back home?

Rainfall around Arizona during the weekend included 1.28 inches in Phoenix, 2.36 at Apache Junction, and 2.01 at Cave Creek, authorities said.

That's a lot of rain!

Hmm, maybe Stacey's internet connection drowned. She's supposed to be getting back from NE this weekend.

Happy Monday everyone! Jim, DH watched both of the races. He made me watch the Bud Shoot out with him. I just don't have enough patience to sit and watch tv for that length of time normally. Must be the ADHD in me! Anyway, he SWORE that they didn't replay the big wreck at the end of the ARCA race. Every time they showed it on the recap he said "where are the cars that flipped upside down?" So was he imagining it, or did cars really flip upside down?

I stopped by the new house Sunday night. The framing package is there, but they haven't started yet. And it's raining pretty good here now, so I don't think they'll start today! But I'm sure our weather's better than GaRry's! It's about 40, so at least it won't freeze.

Hi Lisa - I'm not Jim but did watch the race so can answer your question. There were a couple of cars that flipped on Saturday night. In one of them the driver walked away from the crash with just a limp. The other however has a broken vertabrea in his neck. :scared1: He had to be airlifted out. Usually when something like that happens they will not show replays because they don't know what the outcome will be. That's when we start to worry. We've seen some really bad crashes both on tv and in person and you can usually tell by both what they say and what they don't say on TV how bad it is.

Prayers going out to the drivers hurt this weekend and continued prayers for safe races this week.

I had an email from Stacey on Sat., while she was still in NE. Jay had called her and said he and the kids were safe and sound at a friend's house. He wasn't sure when they would be able to cross the creek to get home, either Monday or Tuesday at the earliest. She was flying back to AZ last night.

Well...I made it. Back home, and darn happy.
Mom is doing really well, we got her in the car and out for a drive, so I know now that she'll be anxious to move forward with the healing process.

Sue, I can't tell you how hard I had to try to NOT LOL at the "Dough Boy" obit! My folks were in bed, and I wanted to burst out laughing!

The flooding is the worst we've seen since Jan 1993. I had some e-mails from a few people who had seen a helicopter rescue in Cave Creek.....there was a lady who tried to cross our creek at the crossing just above ours. Stupid! They lifted her out, and now her car has rolled and landed on some rocks just east of our guest house. It will be interesting to see how they get the car out of there. The only access would be through our property.
Jay and the kids were staying with some dear friends Friday Saturday and part of yesterday.
Jay called a friend up here who owns a backhoe business and had him bring his largest dozer to try to clear our crossing. They managed a narrow strip, just wide enough for a truck to drive through. The pile of sand and debris looks to be about ten feet high. The creek is still running pretty hard. I drove my car to our shop and left it there and Jay came and got me in his '59 Chevy pickup (love that old truck!). So we were all back in our own home last night. Under any other circumstances, Jay would have just waited it out at a friend's house, but he must have really wanted us all to be home!
I know how much my parents did for me, just by bringing me into this world, and caring for me all my life. And I will always be there for them. But I don't know if I can ever stay away from my family for that long again.
God Bless all the men and women in our armed forces who have been away from their families for so long, so many times!

This morning's paper said the driver will be fine with no long term impact.

Welcome home Stacey!

We got about an inch of rain in Albuquerque, which is quite a bit for this area. You guys just got hammered :earseek:

Hope everything drys out soon.

I think we've seen the last of the rain for a while. It's clear and sunny.
The first thing I noticed when I got off the plane was that it seemed so hot here. It was in the 60's.
I have to say though, that the cold back there is different than our cold winter nights. It really wasn't that bad. Of course, I didn't go out in it much....I guess that makes a BIG difference!!!::yes::
I think my parents should move to Florida, somewhere near WDW!!

On second thought, if they did live near WDW, and I was there for 17 days, and didn't get out of the house.....that would have been TORTURE!!:headache:

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!

That's good to hear!

ARGH! I worked for the homeschool curriculum company that we used. I was a parent rep....I'd email ppl if they had questions, go to conferences, do demos, etc. We got a referral fee if someone joined on our recommendation.....

I quit working for them about a year ago (I still was a parent rep, just didn't do any WORK) Finally I quit all together.

Well, I just received a 1099 misc from them for last year.....postmarked Feb 11th. Unfortunately, Mike submitted our taxes about a week ago since, by law the company should have sent out the 1099's by Jan 31st and since we hadn't received anything, we figured we were clear....

ARGH!! Now we have to do some sort of addendum and, since they never take out taxes, we'll have to lose some of our refund!!

Grumble....

And here I sit, working on our taxes. I am sending them to the accountant tomorrow. This is the one time during the year that it's great being married to a CPA. Taxes are always done early.

I WISH! Too bad I didn't think to just fly down there for a couple of days to wait for the water to go down.
More rain coming Wed or Thurs they say.
They had a story on the news tonight that included the car in the creek by the house. The kids and I went down there to see what they were doing, when they were filming. My excuse was that it's on my property, so I can be nosy. Link to my pictures...the lady's car...

The story the news was talking about was a family in a Hummer that tried to cross and had to be rescued. My question is whether his insurance will buy him a new Hummer. He already got the "Stupid Motorist" fine (really) and there's talk of criminal charges. The news people thought it was funny that someone spray painted a message on the hood of the lady's car. Except they spelled "Dumb" wrong. LOL
We ended up with 3.35" of rain.
I also put a special fishy picture on there for Jim and Kevin......wish I could put him on here like you guys do!

Interesting story! 3.35" of rain. Jeez, that's half the years total right their. We have gotten 1/4 of the years total so far this year as well, but you guys are well ahead of us.

Loved the "Stupid Motorist" fine. If they handed those out here, the police would be be wearing gold gilded uniforms and driving Mercedes.

Thanks for the pic. Nice!! Just use the img button (little mountain) and right click the picture for the url properties and copy and paste that info between the img tags. As long as the image is on the web it will show up. In fact the site you have it on shows the url, img and tag info which makes it REALLY easy....... :love1:
