Just think how fast you can handle your Ebay transactions now.

Well, we had it before. You really don't know a good thing until it's gone! But at least now I should be able to remember what I was going to say!

It is amazing how accustom we become to our technology toys and how much we miss them when they are not available to us. I know I wouldn't be happy without Internet access for very long.

On my recent 8 day bicycle trip, I had my PDA connected to my cell phone just so I could still send and receive E-mails and check some web pages (and talk about slow). I was thrilled to find a library in Solvang that had fast Internet access.

:rotfl: :rotfl: Thank you, jilljill...and I'm not offended!! LOL

Vicki...I tried to empty that stupid PM thing once, and I guess I don't know how. DUH. Will try again.

Busy with more little "projects"...this equals little cruise surprises....so don't even ask!

Off to go pick up my new prescription sunglasses....

Vicki...try to PM again....if it doesn't work...you have my e-mail address, right?

Stacey

T.O.P.??????

Did I miss again...or did some pirate: come along???

COOL!!!! I may even catch up to Mary!!!!

Dogs and favorite foods! Now those are two topics I can totally get into!

DH and I have a 5 1/2 year old black lab mix named Foster. No, not after the beer, :drinking1 , the guy from the now defunct show on Discovery called Travelers. If anyone remembers it, Foster was the totally goofy one on the show. When we picked out our puppy at the Humane Society, we decided that the new puppy reminded us of the guy from the show, so that's what we named the dog.

Sue, my parents have two rescue dobies. Both are about 6 years old, a neutered male named Diablo who has his tail and ears cropped, and a neutered female named Risa with just the tail cropped, english style. The are the SWEETEST dogs! And Foster loves to play with them.

Okay, food in the next post...

Cheers, Kara

Food, well, I love to eat, so I would say that favorites change by the day. But I do look forward to that wonderful chocolate souffle at Palo!!!

If we're talking comfort foods, my mother makes the best split pea soup on the planet. DH said for years that he hates split pea soup (he won't eat peas either). I finally got him to try Mom's soup a few month back...he loved it! YEAH! I was so happy...

Lynda...inquiring minds are still waiting to hear about your police escort...:3dglasses

Cheers, Kara

OH MY!

I left and there were 773 pages of posts. I'm back now and it's up to 836!! It might take me these 8 weeks to get caught up!! (highly unlikely--I'm anxious to find out what's gone on since I left!)

We're back, all unpacked and I have to take KT to ballet in 40 minutes. I'll try to catch up a bit later and tell ya'll about the trip. (one interesting point---the candy from MNSSHP nearly put us over the weight limit on the luggage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Where is everybody?? We need to get posting if we're going to meet our quota for the day.:chat:

Ok, here it goes, the loong way 'round:

While Lynda is typing away at her story...I'll jump in and tell you..although some already know...
We have a 5 yr old Lab mix (?) female named Molly. She is the world's biggest sweatheart, and even lays still at the vet's office, in hopes of a "tummy rub".
We also have a little Lhasa grand-puppy who is just about the cutest thing...his name is Ash, and his #1 job in life is to visit Grandma, and annoy Molly.

Favorite Food: All.
Oh, I guess that's not an answer.
How about: Anything I don't have to cook myself.
Still not an answer? You guys are hard to please.
I guess I don't have just one favorite. If I were on death row, I suppose I would want Prime Rib, mashed potatoes, and creme brulee. I had my tonsils out at age 14, and I didn't want ice cream, I wanted mashed potatoes....so I guess that must be my comfort food.
I like good old home-cooked "American" stuff. There are a few Mexican foods I like...I know, I live in Arizona, but I'm a Nebraska beef girl at heart....and I get tired of Mexican. I don't like foods with a lot of fancy sauces....I do like Chinese, seafood, but not fish.
More than enough info for now.
I'm ready to read Lynda's story.

Cash and I headed off to the supermarche' this morning as I finally gave up on procrastination and decided that an offering of diced boiled new red potatoes did not, in any way, constitute potato salad.

We arrived at the market in my little Del Sol safely enough, avoiding construction barriers, fellow drivers, and the odd sad road kill skunk...(do I hear applause?...The only good skunk is a flat skunk?), pulled into Cash's favorite as- close- to- the- door- as- possible accessible parking space (hot weather makes for REAL hot parking lots) and went shopping...

Hmmm, eggs, juice, other stuff...AHA!, a shrimp plate...yummy, frozen..oops...oh, well, quick thaw in this hot weather, cocktail sauce, oh, a little container of seafood salad, other stuff, and out the door...after paying. Nix on potato salad...bring on the shrimp!

Ahh, now how do I get out of this maze? At 9:AM, traffic is a crush at this intersection and I need a signal to get out. Down the parking lot I zip...over the speed bumps...oof...oof....left down this aisle and right down that aisle...quarry in sight...zoom, right turn lane, stop for traffic, turn right....clunk, bang, lurch, scrape, scrape, scrape...I think broken axle at worst (being from the buckboard era) and tentatively press the accelerator.....increase in speed...ok, axle ok..but WHAT is that noise?

I immediately stop the car and leap out (another 40-years-past fantasy), hoping for the best...wheels ok? check....car riding level? check.... bumpers and fenders in place? check. What on earth did I hit? Oh, look at that. A mini Grand Canyon next to the right turn lane...hidden from the view out my stubby car. Grrr.
Now, what's the problem, aside from the fact that where I'm parked is at the peak of a steeply-sloped ROW lane..one false move and I'm gonna slip into a VERY deep ravine?

Food favorites...I love the soups on the Disney ships. I order one at dinner everynight. And creme broulee. Yum!!

I clutch at the car paint in an effort not to slip to my death...Oh, look, a utility van at the bottom of the ravine...parked next to a big round hole that goes down and down....don't look...
...and I creep cautiously to the rear of the car...Oh, look, a little stub of tailpipe pointing at the stars....

Broke the muffler at the front fastener and that's scooping the road as I drive forward...scrape, scrape...Well, I sure can't drive with it like this...Wonder if I can stomp on the stub and break the whole thing off completely....?

Dear Boys and Girls..Never, Never practice a high-step tailpipe stomp at the peak of a slippery-sloped ravine when traffic is zooming up behind you and your sense of balance is practically non-existant...Where is that Service Dog when you need him? Ahh, safely in the navigator's seat...Good. HELPPPP... I stomp.

I stomp.

The muffler levers upward and slams into the underside of the car...Oh...I get it teeter-totter a' la Midas. The passing cars slow. Traffic going South begins to resemble sludge...traffic cop's nightmare...HELLLPPP! I stomp again..and slip

EWWWW. That could hurt. A car slips up behind and blocks Northbound traffic....Two Texas gals hop out and inquire "What seems to be the matter, Miss?" (Another fantasy) They say nothing, flop to the ground and examine the problem...Sturdy girls. Muffler's broke says one...Yep, says the other. Then a MAN wanders up and the gals buzz off...Thankee, I say...
