Mary, I'm glad to hear you and Mark are safe. Tornados are one thing I don't miss having moved out of the mid-west. We get an occasional one this way (about 3 years ago, a big one went through and wiped out our Girl Scout camp), but that was the last tornado in this area. One every 3-5 years isn't bad. Midwest gets them more like every year!

Gail, hope you get good reports from the doc. And if not good reports, at least a workable plan!

We spent last night getting DS packed up for his spring camporee. All I did was pull his camping gear out of the boxes, he decided what to take, and packed it himself. I did make sure he took enough stuff (he wouldn't have taken a sweatshirt if I hadn't mentioned it), but he actually thought about the need for an extra set of socks and underwear in case he got wet! Given that it's supposed to be damp Friday, that's a good plan. DH and I decided that we wouldn't go with him on this trip. I think DH is planning on the rafting trip next weekend though. If he doesn't, I'm going to. No choir next week, so I don't have any conflicts.

Happy Wednesday everyone!

We are totally fine. Didn't even get that much rain where we are, but south of us got hit really, really bad. It was pretty scary watching TV last night as they were constantly updating with the warnings etc.

Sounds like you DS is ready for his camp-out. Hope the weather cooperates for him!

Did you guys see we have some great new smilies?

I love them!

:rolleyes1  :fish: :earboy2:  :worship:

Good morning everyone! :wizard:

Signed on last night.. wrote a looooong post and it disappeared! Oh well.. you were all spared my ramblings...LOL

jilljill...yes, those are the exact ones! Hope to meet your friends sometime! Which lot/unit did they buy .. do you know? We love the place!!

Lynda.. we have a mud hole digger too.... he digs and then the others roll in it. What a mess... but they are so darn cute and have such a good time. Can't help but laugh.

Gail... so sorry to hear about DD troubles and your allergies too... you'll be in my thoughts.

As for what I'm doing in preparation for the cruise?? Racking up those Disney Reward dollars...LOL. I'll save them all up until December so that should give me plenty to spend on pins and at the SPA!! I"m also buying Disney Dollars each week and putting those away. I plan on spending a LOT of time at the spa and buying lots of pins.. esp if an Artist Choice or Captains choice comes out!! Since my DH's birthday is 12/27 I'm going to surprise him with parasailing on Castaway Cay as a gift. I still have to decide if I'm brave enough to go along for a tandem ride or to send him alone. Has anyone ever done this.... or should I say.. has anyone who is afraid of heights ever done it??

Good morning, everyone, from the T O P!!! .....
Today is new dishwasher delivery day...YAYYYYY!

Happy to see that time is passing right along every morning when I check the counter...wait...WHERE ARE THE COUNTERS ? ? ?

You can buy Disney Dollars at the US Disney Stores or at the parks. They look and spend like real dollars at the stores and parks. They come in 1's, 5's and 10's.

Leslie, I'm not sure which unit my frineds are in. They were supposed to move in this month, but they were pushed back until next month. She works at Team Mickey and he commutes from here to there.

I just went down to the Disney store yesterday and stocked up on Disney Dollars for the upcoming WDW vacation and cruise....Whoopee, more Disney stuff...

OK..........here is my stupid question for the day.

What is the advantage to using disney dollars verses US currency while on the ship?

Thanks

afff, not a stupid question. There is no advantage to using DD's over US currency/credit cards. Some people like to stock up on them so they don't spend the money anywhere else. Other people receive/give them as gifts. Some people think they are just fun to spend. They have Disney characters on them.
PM me your address and I will send you one.

Got to love those Disney Reward $$$ - just loaded up the card for use on our May trip and then will use the rest when we cruise.

As for parasailing at Castaway Cay - i did it on our May 2002 trip. It was a lot of fun. I was a little afraid of the height, but they really make it easy for you.

One word of advise - don't sign up for the last trip of the day. The wind must have shifted because all day we saw them doing runs right past the breakers of the family beach but when it was my groups turn they took us far out from the ship.

Mark was going to videotape me from the top of the ship, but we were too far away. Plus they were in such a hurry to get us back on board (it was past the time when everyone was due back) that we got soaked because of the water the boat was kicking up. I say go for it!

Now, Disney Reward Dollars are a different animal entirely....You'd have to consult a Disney VISA credit card holder for information on those..., now bring back my counters, whoever stole 'em....please???

My DH parasailed at CC on our first trip. I think he was in one of the last boats. I had booked him and my DS to go tandem (I think DS was about 49 pounds at the time, now he's up to 57 or so, remember he's 10 1/2). Anyway, DS didn't want to leave the kids program, so he was grumpy on the way to the boat. Then he decided it was too high and he didn't want to go. DH went up alone, and the operator told DH that they'd try again at the end. DS still didn't want to go, so DH went up again solo. He said that it was neat for about the first 3 minutes, then he was bored.

Since then, we've saved our CC $ for the fishing charter. The parasailing was a lot of $ for DS to not go, and DH to be bored!

I forgot to add, that DD and I went back to the ship to take pictures of them parasailing (just like Mark and Mary did). Well I THOUGHT I got pictures of them. I took pictures of the people I saw going tandem. I just didn't know there were two boats out there. When they got back on board DH wanted to know why I wasn't up there to take his picture. Color me embarrased. I do have nice pictures of SOMEONE parasailing, just not my family.

I am back from WDW - got back on Saturday but it has been pretty hectic with getting back to work and kids back to school. We had a fabulous time. The weather was great apart from a few storms and cooler days just at the end.

We spent quite a bit of time around the villa - had some work done on the garden which looks really good. All the parks were really busy over Easter but we managed to do everything we wanted to.

We had some great meals too. We visited Boma at AKL for the first time and thought it was fantastic so this will definitely be added to our 'must do' list next time. Also Villa de Flora at the Gaylord Palms was excellent.

It is always sad to come back but I am into full planning mode for the cruise now. I have finally booked our flights out on 17th and we are staying on for 2 nights afterwards in Orlando. Mainly because I can't bear to fly to Orlando and not set even a toe in Magic Kingdom.

They had a model of the Disney Magic outside 'Who wants to be a Millionaire' and also at The Swan hotel and the boys were very excited to get a look. She really is a great looking ship isn't she.

I have posted a few more trip reports if anyone wants to read them. I will try to finish them up tonight or tomorrow at the latest.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Hi all. Back from Maui this morning. Had a wonderful time. Okay, now I only have 30 pages of reading to do! I am at work and my desk is buried! I'll try to catch up on my reading tonight and/or tomorrow.
