I don't know if anyone has any suggestions for my problem, but thought I'd ask. There will be 5 of us going on the 10 night (basically all adults), we live about 3 hrs away from the port. My problem is this: going to find it difficult to pack all of us and luggage into our car. Does anyone have a suggestion? I was thinking about driving up the day before in 2 vehicles, staying at a motel in the area. Do any supply transportation to the port and could we leave vehicles at motel? Then I contemplated the cost of renting a larger vehicle for the trip. HELP!! I know it's still 7+ months away, but need all the help I can get. :confused2

Leilani: FABULOUS trip reports.. I enjoyed every word. Seems like you booked several of your excursions outside DCL.. did you get better deals? Better excursions?

So far we've done 3 cruises and have never done an excursion... we spend all our free time in the spa! I'd like to try something new though...especially in Antigua or St. Lucia.

Diane... any luck with the Eco Tour?

What is the cost to rent a van for the day, split 5 ways?

Radisson Hotel offers free parking with their cruise package.
( $119.00/night )

Mary & Lisa - thanks. This is the first time I have written a trip report so I hope they are helpful.

Did anyone else see the thread on the cruise boards about the Oct 28, 2004, 3-day cruise being cancelled. Apparently, someone chartered the whole ship for that cruise and now DCL is calling all the people who had booked it and telling them their trip has been cancelled so they need to reschedule. The thread is getting kind of heated toward DCL. Could you imagine if they did that to us? I would be so angry.

I've been watching that thread but staying out of it. I've been accused in the past of looking at the world through Disney colored glasses. Some of these people are making it out to be the worst thing in the world Disney has ever done. Bottom line Disney is out to make money.

I don't think they would ever do it to a cruise like ours but I could be wrong. I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason.

The funny thing about that thread is the people who are being bumped and that Disney is taking care of are taking it better than many, many others.

I honestly feel like some people just like to bash Disney at every chance they get. Maybe that's why I wear my rose colored glasses.

Boy it was quiet! I only had about 7 posts to read this morning!

stingfan, many people park at the Radisson, as was noted by afff. We've always flowing into Orlando and done a drop off rental to and from the port. We will be doing this again. At least from MCO they aren't charging much for the drop off (I think we paid around $40 to $50 for a full sized car each time we've done this).

Well the weather forecast is looking good for DS's campout. Can I brag a bit (might sound weird to some, but it's awesome to me)?

DS is your typical 10 year old, and probably less responsible than a lot of 10 year olds (tends to just get focused on the next thing, so typically leaves a trail behind him: shoes, jacket, backpack, etc.) Yesterday when we came into scouts, he had his hat and his book with him. I went out for a walk, and the group had moved outside. At the end of the meeting, he actually paid enough attention to know that he had to go to a camping meeting (instead of just leaving), then when we started to go, I realized he didn't have his book (hat was on his head). I stopped to talk to a parent, and was going to tell him to get his book. Before I could do that, he stopped, looked down, then went (on his own!!!!) to go get his book. Simple thing, I know, but it just means he's really growing up.

Okay, mushy brag over!

I may not be in chat tonight. We're planning on dinner with friends, so if we get talking we might not be back in time.

Thanks for the suggestions - I'm gonna check into the Radisson thing. Sounds like it might be less stressful. As far as splitting the cost of rental - it's just my husband, 2 teenagers,and an aunt, so no help to split. Maybe I'll win the lottery and we'll be arriving in a fancy-schmancy limo! If so I'll let everyone know so that we can be properly greeted!:happy2: :happy2: :happy2:

Starting Saturday night and Sunday morning, you won't be able to get rid of me....company will be going home!

Lisa, as the mom of an equally "forgetful" 10 yr old boy...I truly appreciate what your son did! Good for him! Scouting is really excellent for helping to send boys in the right direction.

Been chilly and windy here lately....YIPPEE! The longer we can hold off the heat, the better.

Mary, will send a picture at least...

LeiLani....haven't read all the report, but I'm getting there. Will check your Vegas dates also.

Mary - I have to agree with you, that's why I have stayed out of that one too, just lurk and read.

Stacey - sounds great just let me know. I don't have a schedule as I am just there to hang out so if you can make it up it would be great. I'll take you to dinner at the N9NE Steakhouse.(bribe, bribe, bribe. ) We love that place. I have decided to stay at our timeshare for a couple of days so I will be at either the Hilton or Flamingo Hilton one of the weeks. Notice how I leave the kids with grandma and get away(30 minutes to downtown) for a few days. Just let me know if you can make it to town.

Wow.. I was lurking around on that Bumbed cruise thread and its getting a bit crazy over there.
Mary you are right.. the people bumped are taking it better than others who were not even on the cruise!! I would love to know who was able to charter the whole ship!!! Can you imagine? Wonder how much THAT cost? Disney must be making a killing on it to take all the PR heat it will stir up.
Maybe it's Michael Jackson.. wanting one last hurrah before they send him off to jail....
