we have our first visit home in 15 days. i know we receive trash and towel service on day four etc, but does mouse keeping come in on the other days at all to dust, vaccum etc? just want to make sure in regards to tip envelopes. if they don't come in every day and only on the rotation schedule, does the standard disney tip apply? one dollar per person per day? we accidently forgot to tip one day last year at wl and i felt awful! thanks!

Unless it is a T&T day or a full cleaning day mousekeeping should not be in your room.

They only come in on Trash and towel and full cleaning days, otherwise you will see no one. This is why some like DVC, more like a home atmosphere. We keep things tidy and I like not worrying that housekeeping may be coming while I am napping, etc. Depends on type of unit, I tip according to size and leave a larger tip on days I know they will be coming plus on
checkout. I feel bad too, we had a
2B in Dec and I totally forgot to
leave a tip on the day we were
leaving. We were in the air when I
remembered.

We just came back from 10 days at OKW and had a full cleaning on day 4 and just trash and towel on day 8, actually they just took the trash and dropped a large pile of towels on the chair. On the last day of our stay I put a tip on the counter, who knows who got it, how it was split or if it was split but my concience was clear.

Housekeeping is a salaried position that does not require tipping. No need to tip unless they go out of the way to clean up a terrible mess that you made.

thanks so much for the insight guys!

i know it's not neccesary to tip, but have noticed over 2 trips that i didn't tip service wasn't the greatest, dirty tables, food on the floor, no toilet paper :scared1: and that was at movies! lol ya know cus you wanna come home at the end of the day with 2 kids and yourself with crohns and no tp! lol thanks again guys!

At the Value Resorts they are not even allowed to accept tips. I once tried to tip a bell hop at All-Star Music who picked up my luggage and he said that Disney doesn't allow any tipping there, only at the Moderates and Deluxes and he could be fired if he accepted it.

Gosh, I'm sure glad you posted this because on our Dec 10 trip I didn't leave a tip for Mousekeeping. I didn't see the point since they weren't cleaning up for us everyday and we only stayed 4 days each at 2 separate resorts.

I did always leave a tip when we stayed before joining DVC. The usual $1 per person/day, in a cute little card we'd print up before going.

so i wonder what's happened to the tips i've left over the different stays at movies? they werent still in the room at the end of the day.

I always left tips every day at the Values and the mousekeeper always accepted it and thanked me. Why would it make a difference wether it is a Value or a Moderate ?

And the for Bell services, you just use discretion.. and they always accepted it...

I have never had a tip declined at Disney - bellman or otherwise. We always left tips for housekeeping no matter what level of resort we stayed at. This is the first time I've heard Disney doesn't allow tipping. That doesn't sound right in a service industry.

If you offer a tip to a Disney CM who is in a non tipped position, face to face, they will have to decline it 3x before accepting. Then, if you are persistently offering it they are allowed to take it.

Bell Services and Valet will always accept. Housekeeping will always take tips left in the rooms, too. In fact, I often leave a little note if I need something in particular on T&T or Full Cleaning day and they always oblige and take the tip as well.
