2 Castles, 2 Send out 2011 & Ring in 2012...12 Days of Christmas

Guess I am in some kind of funk...I just have no desire to think about the trip right now :scared1:...maybe it is finanaces or just the pile of work I have waiting for me at school!

Today is the teacher's first day back. I get to hit them with changes to collaborative meetings this afternoon...all afternoon! Then tomorrow I am going to have a huge target on my back with the new lesson plan computer program...I am sure the messenger will be shot! :rotfl2: Changes...UGH, why do I have to be the fall guy, and I do not even make the big bucks!

:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: Keeping my fingers crossed for you

I could tell you why the big bucks guys aren't passing along the messages themselves, but this is a family website and I will not compromise that!!!! We are here to listen though if you need to get some anger out! Good luck though! :grouphug:

Thanks everyone for the positive thoughts...my prinicpal had our Cluster director (***'t super for our area of town) come and talk this morning to welcome everyone back and set the tone. He specifically let everyone know that we do what is best for kids, and this year there were going to be changes as a district on the whole...and that it was my job to train them...the "don't shot the messenger speech." Then he went on about how I was one of the best in my positions...:goodvibes "Ahh shucks!" I really appreciated the vote of confidence and the message. The thing is I REALLY believe in the changes that are being made, it just makes us better teachers and in turn is what is best for kids. My job is to help teachers improve their instruction, bottom line. Sadly, we have lots that don't want to change, and it is hurting the kids....I know my teachers respect me and I really try to practice what I preach and always remain with my heart in the classroom and not become one of "them" in the main office...

So I went into the afternoon confident and ready to tackle my job...remember the heat wave and drought we have had all summer...what an omen....this happened

Yep, a rainstorm and POWER OUTAGE right in the middle of it all! Seriously? Come on God....what kind of sign is this?! :rotfl2: But, I was able to recover and change things to work to get message/change 1 across without lights or a computer. Overall they were receptive, and I know they will come around once I put all the other pieces together for them the next couple of days. Tomorrow is REALLY going to be content heavy with new learning...yep, on a Friday, not good planning! :sad2: Keep sending me those great positive thoughts my disney friends, they worked wonders today!

That sucks that some of the teachers are resisting the changes. Maybe as they see how much better it will be for the kids they will come around.

As for the storm pic... while that must have been a scary storm. The picture is B A utiful!:goodvibes

:rotfl2:I used a stock photo from photobucket to highlight the storm...it was a pretty good sounding one from inside...enough to take out the power, but sadly not enough rain to help with the drought, just enough to make everything dirty with the wind driven dirt behind the storm!

I was going to comment on the picture too, lol.

Sounds like breaking the news went better than expected. It's difficult for some people to get out of their comfort zone, my son is one of them, and accept change. Hopefully those resistant will see how the changes will help the students. Afterall, the students of today are the leaders of tomorrow :D

OMG, I cannot believe the power went out on you. Glad you were able to get your message across and I pray that the teachers are all receptive to the changes!

:rotfl2: And here I thought you were just a very talented photographer.

Hasn't the rain been wonderful? Loving the cooler temps! :thumbsup2

Thinking of you today - I hope your Friday is going amazing and you can have a relaxing weekend!

We really have not gotten much of the rain....just a few sprinkles to make everything dusty and dirty. Lowers the temps some, but raises the humidity...don't know which is worse humidity or the hot temps! :headache: Sure wish we would get some good rain!

The morning professional development went okay, just a few gripes, complaints, and mumbles under the breath. Then I thought I was being nice by allowing my staff to go to lunch early to avoid the lunch rush...and then cut lunch down to an hour instead of the normal 1 1/2 hour we have on training days...so they could leave around 3 pm instead of 4 pm today...it is the weekend after all...thought they would be :woohoo::yay::cheer2: about that...apparently I messed up quite a few peoples lunch plans...so I got this :mad::mad:for my afternoon training sesssion from my staff.

So here is what I think about technology for my afternoon session...

computer.jpg

Thank you to all my fellow curriculum people in my district who also felt that Friday would be the perfect day to roll out the new progam. :rotfl2: We managed not only to crash the district server, but the actual program site server with the traffic volume today. Apparently almost every computer in the district tried to be at the same place at the same time... So much for training!!! Time to once again monitor and adjust plans...so hands on went out the window and I just shared my powerpoint on key points about the program. Guess on Monday we will try again to get into the program and learn it! Don't you just love technology! :confused3

Grumpy about morning learning, mad about me messing up lunch, then grumpy and mad when they could not be hands on with the program...yep...I need a happy hour for the entire weekend! Too bad no one wanted to go to happy hour with me...guess I am not the favorite admin anymore!

You should be happy that you couldn't really see their faces because well.... you might not want to! But in all seriousness I am glad that you are trying to keep your spirits up in spite of everything hat happened on Friday! I have noticed that a lot of people don't understand or trust technology (not that with the luck your having it's proving that it's good for them) and that's why theycan't trust it? My grandfather refuses to let me order tires for his wheelchair on the internet and the phone operator keeps telling us to go to the website because I couldn't explain which tire he wanted! Then every time he has to go to the bank (forbid it that he has direct deposit or uses an ATM) he demands to go to the ones with "real people" not the people on "TV's". Funny off topic story about this- my son asked his grandpa train why he won't go to the TV people and my grandfather tells my son that he doesn't think that it's humane that when those people started to work here they shrunk the people to fit them onto the TV and they lock them up into your mom's old doll house every night then put them back into the screens every morning- my son believes every crazy story my grandfather tells him too:sad2:! That old man is too much:rolleyes:! But anyway, older generations (like over 50- no offense to those that are in that age bracket) have a harder time because they don't like change so just stay patient!

:rotfl: Way to funny...my thought was Mike TV in Willy Wonka! I just have to patient and not take things seriously and every rude comment to heart. I know change is hard...I have to stay positive.

Sunday Ramblings...

I should be at mass (sent Jeff and Ab there) while I let Goo sleep-in and I play on the computer waiting for Boo to call to be picked up from a weekend Boy Scout camp out. The 4 of us with the cousins down the street went to the drive in last night...probably the last time of the summer. I had vowed not to go see

gI_74538_SMURF_Icon_EN.jpg

But guess what, that is what we ended up seeing. The double feature was The Smurfs and Cars2...just can't pass up 2 kid movies...although I hardly call it kids movies when the last one ended at 1:30 am. No wonder why I am so tired. Actually The Smurfs, was not all that bad...not as bad as what I thought it would be. DH actually said he enjoyed it. :scared1: My only issue was that Neil Patrick Harris will never grow up in my eyes...he always will be Doogie Howser (although I do not even remember watching the show) and that Grumpy Smurf (AKA George Lopez) voice so overpowered the other smurf voices in recognition.

I have a movie night planned for tonight...if I can figure out how to hook up the VCR in the midst of the Cable DVR box and everything else. Last week's went okay, nothing special...guess I should post the pictures from Aladdin.

Okay I am trying to figure out what to do about an autograph book. Being a scrapbooker, with the vision of 1 album in mind for our trip I really do not think I want to have a separate autograph book...I want to put the autographs into our trip album. So how should I do this? The plain paper books just seem that...too plain and nothing exciting to get a characters attention. Then again I really do not think that my family will be standing in too many lines for characters...we have a few that I know we will seek out...Captain Hook, Tinkerbell, and Marie. Our autographs will be from mainly character dining...so we do not have to search out characters! I was thinking of maybe doing an 8 x 10 photo autograph page...designing a page for each movie or dining experience that we might want to get autographs for and have all the characters from that sign the 1 page, put that on one side of my 12 x 12 album along with actual character pictures that we take. What do you think...can we fit 4-5 autographs on 1 8x10 page? I was also thinking about doing 1 8x10 page for each country in epcot...for CMs to sign and any characters we encounter at that country.

Suggestions...I really am at a loss on what to do!

Im loving this idea and think that if i can find the time to do it for the kids, we will snag this idea and run with it!!!

I'm not artsy fartsy, so I don't have any great ideas for the autograph book.

My dh and ds went to see the Smurfs last night instead of us going to Universal. DS17 didn't feel well and I stayed home with him. Hopefully tonight we will hit fireworks somewhere. In the meantime, ds17 and dh are fishing. They are crazy, because just walking from the church to the car, I was dripping in sweat. It's really hot and humid in FL.
