2 Castles, 2 Send out 2011 & Ring in 2012...12 Days of Christmas

What a Friday night it was...I had planned a nice quiet and easy movie and dinner night for Ab & Goo (dh went to our cabin to open it up for the summer/take in a little fishing for his birthday while Boo went to a sleepover at a friends)...it did not turn out as planned....

My name is Cami, and I don't feel good....

On Friday morning, I noticed that Cami was acting a little strange. She is usually a ball of fire but not this morning. DH said she just had not woken up yet and was fine. When I got home that evening, she was still acting that way. We brought her in the house and all she wanted was someone to hold her (which is not very easy anymore because she is about 25 pounds now at 3 1/2 months). I tried to get her to eat and drink...but she just had no interest. Finally, after the movie was done I called my FIL (who is a dog breeder and lives down the street) to come and look at her...he told me to take her to the vet...of course the only one open is the emergency vet ($$$$), but I love that dang puppy. Sure enough, she has parvo (yes, she has had all of her shots, but we live near the edge of town and people dump lots of dogs so we have lots of strays...therefore lots of issues with disease). I called dh, knowing that this was either going to cost us lots of money or cost us a puppy. She is such a good dog (in terms of having a lot of natural retrieving instinct and yes a great personality), the kids adore her, and she was quite expensive in the first place...we have to try to save her. So I wrote the check to start treatment, left her at the vets, and went home with 2 upset children (they know that parvo is not good because of grandad's puppies...and not many live). I told them they had to pray to God and St. Francis to take care of their puppy.

So far today, things look good with her. She is showing some improvement...so hopefully she will be home in a few days (although I am scared to death of what the final bill will be...the first 36 hours of care cost me $642 last night...thank goodness I listen to Dave Ramsey and have an emergency fund...)

Thanks for reading about my puppy, say a little prayer for her if you will!

All this on top of having to come home afterwards and get 6 dozen cookies baked and decorated for Ab's church youth group fundraiser dinner...it was a LONG NIGHT!

:hug::hug: So sorry to hear about Cami. We went through that with one of our puppies and luckily she has been good to go ever since. I hope she feels better!!!

I am so very sorry to hear about your pup. I hope treatment works!!!! I will definitely say a prayer for her and you and your kids.

:goodvibes

I am so sorry about Cami- she looks like such a cutie! I will keep her in my prayers with you and your family as well:hug:! Thank goodness for Dave Ramsey- we follow him too!

Thanks for all the wishes and prayers for Cami...I am not really an animal person and do not get too attached, but the kids have been upset all weekend! I just talked to the vet, she is drinking water and they just tried to feed her...if she eats and it stays down she can come home later tonight. The vet says we caught the parvo in the beginning stages and she is responding really well to treatment...that is a relief...until I get the vet bill!

Planning another EASY dinner and a movie night tonight before DH gets home from his weekend birthday fishing trip! Goo is driving me crazy about it...so I better get started!

I'm so sorry to hear about Cami & I hope she can come home tonight.

I'm going back to read what I missed this weekend. I love your reviews on the rides I haven't been to Universal Studios since I was 10 and I don't remember any of it so I have no idea what to expect and what the kids can/can't do.

:hug:I hope that you guys got to pick up Cami by now and that you didn't pass out from the bill! Sending you more prayers and :goodvibes!

Just checking in! Hope Cami is doing better! Parvo is a harsh illness

Here's to a better weekend coming up! :goodvibes

Hey I'm just popping into say I hope that Cami is home with you right now. I'm still keeping her in my thoughts & prayers.

Okay, Okay...I dropped off of the face of the planet (or in this case the DIS) for the last couple of weeks. I missed you all!

Last week was a mess with the last week of school. It seems to be my busiest time of the school year, right before the month of state testing which blurrs right into the last week of school. I had so many reports to file that could not be done until the last minute in addition to preparing district staff development for summer school teachers (which I had to write the curriculum for elementary math, prepare the presentation, prepare materials both for the curriculum and presentation, then present the materials). I am so glad that is done. Now I am in the mist of beginning summer school as a lead teacher at an unfamiliar campus with an unfamiliar staff...the prinicpal is a friend of mine and she wanted me on her campus for the summer (actually we just do summer school for the month of June). I did not want to be lead teacher this summer...too much headache for very little extra pay but again it was a friend and plus you really can't say no in my district without someone remembering. Today the students come after a day of staff development and another day of prep. We only work 5 hours (students are there for 4) and the $$$ is going to a good cause...our Christmas Surprise Trip. :santa: I just have to tell myself I think I can for the next 22 work days! Plus I have the afternoons with my own kids to do summer things.

Cami is back to her normal self...the little playful pup! It was such a relief...although the vet bill was not! The vet said we caught it in the beginning stages of parvo and that is what made the difference. She made her first trip to our cabin in New Mexico over Memorial Day Weekend...learned to swim when she fell in the lake after trying to sneak up on the stringer of fish we had caught. :rotfl: Not to sure if she really enjoyed the mountain lake water...cause she stayed far away for the rest of the afternoon.

I have not really been in the mood to plan or think about our trip lately. :confused3 I think the vet bill got me worried about finances along with all the end of school stress. Maybe today I will get back in the mood after I catch up on everyone's PTR. I still have about 30 days until I can book ADRs.

On a good note...I received an email Kayak flight cost email yesterday and flights are down $77 in the last week on the non budget airlines...so that is a step in the right direction. I am considering flying out on United/Continetal (like their schedule better) and coming back on SW.

Well I need to get around so that I can walk before heading to summer school! I plan to be back this afternoon catching up on PTR, posting some about Universal, and last weeks Movie & Dinner Night.

Dinner & a Movie Night:
The Incredibles
May 22, 2011

The kids and I decided to squeeze in another movie while Jeff was away for the weekend fishing for his birthday. We had planned to do a double feature with Spiderman…and do the whole superhero theme, but in the end we just did 1 movie (and that was enough for me).

I like this movie. We all get a kick out of Jack-Jack in the end turning into a little devil…Boo thinks that Jack-Jack is Goo (a hidden little devil). I have to say I love the banter between Mr. Incredible and Elasta-Girl.

Activity: We made ourselves into super hero paper dolls and of course Goo had to have a cape and mask.

Dinner: Super Hero Sandwich, Mr. Incredible Dip & Chips, Very Violet Berry Salad (and it was disappearing...the kids ate it all up FAST like DASH), PowerAde…and for dessert Superhero Bomb Pops

I am glad to hear that Cami is doing well. I can imagine that was stressful. It also sounds like you have a ton on your plate. Don't worry about keeping up with dis... we will all still be here when you have the time.

I understand the mood regarding planning. I am so frustrated at the cost of flights... I have yet to see fares for my days come down. (or even the days around my dates) Plus, the flights going down are almost full. I feel like I won't be able to make my ADR's if I am not set on my dates. I am making myself crazy over it.

As for movie night... :worship: you did an awesome job!!!

I am doing by best to quit worrying about flights...until Kayak sent me an email that flights went down $77 this week! I have not looked any deeper than the email to see what the one way is doing...I am tired of flights buggine me!

Thanks for the compliments on movie night...it was really not much this time around. We have another easy one planned for tomorrow afternoon (a Universal Double Feature), so that Jeff does not have to endure it. The kids came up with some great ideas...can't wait to share it!

I'm very glad to hear that puppy is back to her normal self :goodvibes

I understand the busy crazy month. I'm trying to remember to just breathe. i really feel like I won't see my family till the end of Sept between all our schedules it seems we are never home!
