2/9/2008 - Valentine Cruise 7 Night Western - Anyone On The Love Boat ?

Hello everyone!

We've just returned from the 11 night cruise around the med on the
Magic, it was our first Disney cruise and it was fantastic, the entertainment, level of service and organisation from disney was first class. We only booked the cruie 4 weeks before departure so had no choice in stateroom location, we ended up on deck 1 in room 1069, DO NOT STAY IN THIS ROOM OR ANY IN THAT AREA!!!:scared1: :scared1: there is a noise from below that lasts for about 10 seconds and happens throughout the day, it seems to happen more about 6am which is a very unwelcome wake up call:mad:  Because the cruise was full we couldn't be moved. Apart from this the cruise was first class, so much so that we booked agin while on board for the 9th feb cruise ( but not in the same room ). This will be our first time in the Caribbean and the USA.

We are Ian, Allison, Emily (10 when cruising) and Zak(6). We have booked our flights with Virgin, they are more expensive than BA but everyone I have spoken to says it well worth the extra money. We are flying out on the 8th (my birthday) and staying overnight at the Hyatt Hotel at the airport. The disney transfers at Barcelona were fantastic so I'm hoping for the same from the Hyatt. Boarding the ship in Barcelona only took about 30 mins, is this the same in the USA, i've been told getting in and out of the US is a nightmare:scared1:

The thread for the med cruise started a seperats one for the kids, it worked really well and gave them the oppurtunity to get to know each other, does anyone else want to do this???

Been reading all the posts, nice to have a wedding and vow renewal on GC, possible shuttle sighting and some other children on board. Hadn't realised when booking that it will be Valentines day when we cruise, do Disney have a special party that night?

Hi Ian - Glad you found us :goodvibes

The kids thread sounds like a good idea  - you can count my two in for that.

I don't think they do too much for Valentines Day other than a few decorations around the restaurants at dinner ....though expect it will be a very tough job getting a ressie for Palo that night !!!

Are you staying on after the cruise, and if so where abouts are you staying ?

We fly out on the 1st from Manchester, and are returning on the 18th.

Just recovering from a nightmare weekend - my DD6 was bitten in the face by a dog on Thursday evening so we have been in a specialist childrens hospital in Liverpool most of the weekend. MY DD has had 2.5 hours surgery to correct the dammage, mainly to her nose & cheek.
She is out of hospital now and recovering well, though she looks as though she has been several rounds with Mike Tyson !
She's been so brave, and the surgeons were excellent - she will have some scarring but she is lucky not to have damage to her facial muscles or saliva glands. We are back there on Friday to have her stitches removed by general anesthetic. Makes me realise we are lucky to have the Naional Health Service here in Britian - really they've done a marvellous job with her.

Hi Ian!! :welcome:

It's nice to see another joing the Love Boat!!

My daughter Ariana will be overjoyed to know that your daughter Emily will be on board. Ariana will be 9 at the time of the cruise! I'm sure she'd love to chat with her before hand.

Glad you enjoyed your first Disney cruise, they are quite addictive!!
Looking forward to getting to know you some before the cruise!!

Thea

Hello and thanks for the welcome:thumbsup2

The thread for our med cruise had 1089 pages ( lots of chatter ) we only joined 4 weeks before cruise but found it very helpful.

Emily will chat to Ariana as soon as kids thread is started, it's nice for them to know somebody before the cruise:hug:

Glad to hear your daughter will be ok, it's a nightmare when children are in the hospital, as a parent you just want to take the pain for them and feel so weak that you can't!

Hello fellow cruise mates!! I've finally finished reading all these post phew!! I'm happy to report that this will be our 5th Disney cruise for Hubby and I and our Sons 1st cruise he will have just turned 4 on Feb 5th. We will have my in-laws on board as well as my cousin and his girlfriend. We've always cruised this time of year end of Jan or beginning of Feb. Weather (except for 1 year 2000) has always been fantastic high 80 to 90's This will be our 2nd Western cruise. We are still deciding on excursions, but we will be going to 7 Mile Beach in Grand Cayman it is so beautiful the water and sand is absolutely gorgeous!! Last Western 2003 we did the island tour and the driver we had was unreal we weren't supposed to stop there but he said it is so beautiful you just have to take a look....it was heaven! I believe you can do this safely on your own. I've seen a few posters report that they have done it on their own. There are cabs willing and waiting for you to use them....just be sure you negotiate a price before going into the car/truck/van. I think in Cozumel we will go to Chankanaab Park. As for Key West you can do things on your own or do the Disney excursions, we're not sure what we'll be doing. You can pretty much walk to everything from where we dock. I'm so happy to have found this post!! Was looking but not in the right place....lol! Judy I hope your daughter is getting better how awful. Can't wait to meet all of you! Oh we'll be going down on Feb 6 staying at the Beach Club (we are DVC members also) for 2 days then heading over to the Port to stay at the Radisson before the cruise on 2/8. They have a shuttle service that will bring you over to the cruise terminal. After the cruise we are staying at Saratoga for 3 days, hubby is going to the Daytona 500 on Sunday 2/17 after the cruise. He's wanted to do this for a long time now and we finally coordinated our cruise right this time!! Ok sorry to make this so long just wanted to catch up with everyone!!
Laurie :)

Hello Ian and Lauri and welcome!

Judy, your poor little girl! I'm so sorry. :sad1:

Hi Lauri!!:welcome:

We're from Massachusetts too, in Metrowest. Which region do you hail from?

Welcome Lauri and Ian....so glad to see more DISers joining our cruise.

My DS9 (turning 10 on the cruise) is not yet aware he's going yet......will probaly be a Christmas surprise, as soon as he finds out I'll get him online.

Micaela

We are also suprising our kids for Christmas! My oldest DS will be turning 12 on the 2nd day of the cruise. We are going to get them each a box of stuff to open for christmas to tell them we are going. I am also going to order a puzzle with a picture of the ship to put together as a surprise as well. I am really excited! I can hardly wait!:cool1:

We will be having quite the number of celebrations on this cruise...how fun!

I had the same idea, maybe something fun like boxes inside boxes or something. I love the idea of the puzzle. If you don't mind me asking....where are you ordering the puzzle from? My DS loves puzzles.

I will probably order from ritzpix.com. I have several really good pictures of the ship, so I just thought I would get one of those as a puzzle. I think they will be really surprised! I am really excited!

We have lots of new people since I last asked, so:

What stateroom are you in?
Which Dinner seating?
Any favorite waitstaff or cast members?

My answers:

What stateroom are you in? 7035
Which Dinner seating? Second seating, we're hoping for 8:15 again
Any favorite waitstaff or cast members? We loved our waiter Dante so much we've requested him again!!

We are stateroom 6116
Second Seating -first seating was a disaster for us on our last cruise ( we are hoping to get the earliest time on that though)
No particular request for servers - the ones we had on the Wonder were OK - but nothing special

We are in staterooms 6515 & 6518. We also have late seating. We love it. Don't have any favorite staff. We like experiencing new staff members each time.

We're in stateroom 2000
Late seating
And we always request being seated in John Cunningham's station or dining room. Last year when we sailed he was working as both a dining room manager and head server.
