2/9/2008 - Valentine Cruise 7 Night Western - Anyone On The Love Boat ?

What does everyone plan to do for excursions? I would like to do beach days, but want to save lots of money doing it! Any ideas? Does anyone know if this is easy or safe to do on our own? Any help would be appreciated!:thumbsup2

Welcome Allears, we too are DVC'ers w/our home resort being the Beach Club Villas! First visit to your home away from homes are always exciting.

gallafamily, we too are thinking beach days. So far, the only beach I've really looked into has been the Paradise Beach at Cozumel.....everyone that goes there seems to be impressed. Do a search and you shuld find the link to it.

With the exception of Cozmuel, we've booked our own excursions. In Key West we are going on the Echo Catamaran for Dolphin viewing, island tour, and snorkeling. We have the vow renewal for the in-laws first thing in the morning in Grand Cayman, then we will probably do some shopping or beach time afterwards. We are going to do Xcaret Eco-Park in Cozumel.
While researching where to have the vow renewal in Grand Cayman, I stumbled upon Cemetery Beach in St George which is apparently a great beach that has great snorkeling, with half the amount of tourists that Seven Mile beach has...we may head over there too.

Hello Allears and welcome! :wave2:

I don't want to do any excursions this time. I also just want some beach time. If you all figure out anything let me know and I'll do the same.
:thumbsup2

Same here really...all my kids want is the beach.... and I doubt whether we will be paying for Disney to take us there.

I'd like to do the Eco park in Xcaret but not sure if the kids and DH2B are going to be all that keen...we may have to leave that for a Mexico holiday sometime.

Still totally undecided about the DCL wedding (all your fault Emtmom ! ) but going to have to decide soon as DCL have just come back to us with confirmed prices (only $100 less than the deluxe package at OGH !!!). What time is your vow renewal if you don't mind me asking ? - if we go ahead we were thinking late morning, to early lunch, BTW. We could be looking for a couple of witnesses if you're still around !

PS. thanks for the great weather you guys - still holding out - yesterday was really hot .....:sunny:

We have to be at the Smith's Cove Beach by 8:45, I believe that means the ceremony is at 9. She had asked if we wanted to stay for lunch so I am guessing that meansshe had a later time available. I will PM you with her info--now that I think about it, being witnesses to your wedding would just feed the reason for being dressed up at 9 am even more!!

Thanks for the welcome folks. this is the DH side of Allears. We just found out over the weekend, special friends of ours from Canada will be sailing with us as well. We met this wonderful couple and their family on our first 7 night cruise when we were table mates. We all sailed together the following year and have kept in touch since. We told them we had booked and would love it if they were able to go to and they are!!! We're so very, very excited. This should be a Magical celebration.

Tevagirl, which Jersey shore are you from?

Thanks for the info Emtmom :thumbsup2

We are now thinking of a ceremony at around 11am.....possibly a fraction earlier, depending on whether we think we will still be able to grab a couple of decent hours at a beach, or not, in the afternoon for the kids. Is there a bathing beach near GOH, do you know ???

We are intending to have a celebration meal there at lunch time, and the ship is scheduled to leave port at 4.30pm so really there isn't going to be a huge amount of time to play with :headache:

What a pity we leave port so early ...I rather fancied a sunset wedding

Still, I figured if we had our wedding on Grand Cayman this gives us the perfect excuse to go back on an anniversary trip  ....so we can always catch up with this place another time.....The other thing is I have done a little scuba diving in my time and GC is supposed to be the TOP place to dive - another good excuse to go back.

GOH is located right at Smith's Cove, which is a more secluded beach that has great swimming and snorkeling. :beach:

MH dives too, he was planning on diving in GC but the vow renewal changed all that--which is why we are planning on Xcaret...while there he can pay $44to dive while the rest of us stroll around. I am going mostly to add to my photo portfolio.

We're in Mt Ephraim, right near the Walt Whitman to Philly. We love the Cape May area.

Howdy Neighbor :wave2:

Do you come down this way much? It's really nice in September. The crowds have gone home and the weather's still nice.

No where as often as we'd like. It's actually been a few years. We also like the early spring and the B & Bs.

Are you flying out of Philly, Atlantic City or driving down?

Yay !!

and a :cheer2: because I just got my pre-park opening ressie at CRT !!

I would love to fly out of Atlantic City and we usually do but I think this time we will be flying out of Philly. I don't think we'll get a good enough rate for Spirit. How about you?

The prices for Spirit have been lousy lately. They advertise all these wonderful specials, but they must only have 2 seats at those prices. They have been way higher than other carriers for our last couple of trips. We are fortunate enough though to be only 20 mins. from Philly international so it is very convenient for us - if you don't have to park!

I was lucky enough to hit Spirit's one cent sale this past May and I got two RT tickets to Myrtle Beach for $48.00! I felt like a kid at Christmas time!! I will probably never ever get a deal like that again though.
