2/8/03 Eastern Magic Anyone?

ANTSY!!!! I can't believe how close we are getting to sailing away into the wild blue yonder! OK..I am a sick pup this morning.
I haven't been to a Hard Rock since a trip to Chicago back in 2000. So deprived! I can taste the *adult* beverages right now.

I am deadly with electronic things. No lie...I have destroyed 5 cameras in the last 8 years. I had a brand new, cute little something or other, one trip to DW and I don't know what happened...it never worked again.I had a full roll in it and lost all of the pics!:( The film was stuck, the door wouldn't open.) What a mess. I now have a cheapy 35mm and so far so good.
So.............. what do you think the weather will be like at the ISLANDS?? :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc DH and I are a few weeks ahead of our last cruise and had great weather and seas. I hope we are just as lucky. We took ginger tabs a few days before just in case the seas were rough, but stopped after the first day. It was great. I sure would like to see some marine life out there this time around.:)

You know, one of the hardest things for me about sailing in February is the weather. I just don't know how to pack. I find it hard to believe I'll be decked out in summer clothes in the middle of the Carribbean!! I've heard the line, "Take half the clothes and twice the money" but I want to be prepared for any type of weather.

I am a little scared about motion sickness. It's never been a problem for me anywhere else, but then again, I've never cruised before.

That's very cool!!!! We'll recognize you for sure, now... DH used to have a Pepsi t-shirt that said "you've got the right one, baby" but he wore it out... We will be bringing our Pepsi soft-sided cooler with us. We are getting pretty antsy too. It's been sooooo cold here this past month, that we are looking forward to enjoying some warm weather. Two years ago we went on a short cruise to the Bahamas (in January) and it was in the high 80's so I'm hopeful it will be the same when we go...

Oh, how appropriate. We will be sure to spot you in the crowd now. I think I may have a Pepsi Racing hat from the NASCAR 24 Jeff Gordon car. I know I definitely have a die cast car, but that would be a little too heavy to wear on my head.!
I made our transfer ressies with DCL yesterday from VWL. We get picked up at 12:00.:( Well, at least the ship will not be leaving without us.) Simplicity is the key word this time around.
Chrissy- you may want to look into using ginger root tablets to ward off motion sickness. DH and I started two days prior. Sundown makes a natural whole herb ginger root, one-two tabs a day. I know there are over the counter remedies..I opted for a natural remedy.I didn't want to snooze my cruise away. Our seas were 8-12ft. so it was pretty calm. A funny thought....I remember standing online at MCO for the security check after the cruise and doing a little bit of swaying. It was an odd feeling, but passed by next day.
Has anyone decided to purchase trip protection insurance? I can't decide. Any tips?

Hi everyone -
Laura we didn't purchase trip insurance but we have good coverage through our credit card and through our group policies from work.
Did any of you book through DU? I think if we get 8 cabins booked through DU we will get a welcome aboard gift.
Well, (I owe, I owe) it's off to work I go... Have a great day everyone...
:)

Annie

I think the hat thing worked out pretty well. I'll have to get a DCL hat to add to my collection!

I don't think we got trip insurance. I'll have to confirm that with the DW.

I got our transfers from the Beach Club about two weeks ago.
I'm with you, Laura, keep it simple. ;)

We always think the bed is moving the night after a cruise! Your body gets used to the movement of the ship and it takes a while to get used to solid ground.

No more Electronics links, Chrissy. At least for a few weeks! :teeth:

No, we're not booked through DU. Our friend made all the arrangements for our group through her TA. (Loooong before I found this board)

We did, however, decide to get trip insurance. We wanted that little extra piece of mind since we're driving down (our car can be tempermental sometimes) and since the DH is active duty its possible they could revoke his leave for some unforseen reason.

Thanks Laura for the info on those ginger root tablets for motion sickness. Better safe than sorry, right?

I ordered a new Cruise Video last night when I realized I had last years model.:( It doesn't even include the Western Carribean cruise. It's so yesterday!;)

I also asked the DW to stop by AAA and pick up a new brochure. Time to scan pictures and put them on my wall at work!!!:bounce:

Chrissy, is your DH stationed at the Naval Air Base there?
I hear the aviation museum is awesome!

You know, I just realized I ordered the new cruise video a few months ago and I have yet to see it. Hmm...you'll have to let us know when yours shows up.

Actually the DH is at a smaller training command in the area. Two thumbs up for the museum on NAS though. When friends and family come to visit it's always something they want to do. Needless to say we've been there more than a few times :) Can you believe it's free admission to the museum? You have to pay if you want to see the IMAX film or do a simulator, but it's so neat to just walk around. It takes an entire day to see everything.

Okay, it finally got chilly here down south - can't help but think about that warm Carribbean sun!!

I guess the 12-Metre Regatta at St. Martin/Maarten is a done deal for us. I called the reservation number and was told I couldn't reserve any excursions until Decmber 10th. :(

Just some information I thought I would pass along.

Have a good week-end everybody!!!:smooth:

I will be away from my computer this week-end so I'll catch up with all of you Sunday night.

I have had too much time on my hands this week...injured reserve list. I spent a good part of yesterday shopping for insurance and after much perusing at insuremytrip.com....I did it. I now will have peace of mind.....the weather worries are the worst. Please don't snow, ice or anything on our takeoff day!!
Cruise video??? I think I lent mine to the friends traveling with us, hum? I'll have to look for it.
Annie- didn't book with DU. We are cruising on DVC points. Sorry. I've been checking a travel website to see how full the ship will be. There are about 50 rooms left. Will we sell out or won't we?
Chrissy-I learned a great tip from someone while sailing...while up on deck if the motion bothers you, just look out to the horizon. The eye will trick the brain into thinking you are not moving. It really helps. I love to gaze at the water, but most of all I was intrigued with the stabilizer wings under the ship....I could not resist looking down since they were just under our room. Not a good idea I soon found out.
So..........who is the bigger Disney nut in *your * family? Open for discussion.;)

Ooh, this is going to be a tough one. I think we're both pretty equal on this one, but I guess it would be me. Yes, the DH agrees :) He says I'm just a nut - period.

Chrissy,
I know exactly how you feel.......my DH and my DD's call me a wackoteer. Can't get enough of that Disney stuff! I want to be reincarnated as Tinker Bell....please let me come back a blonde with big blue eyes! (and wings);)

I've sung Cruella Deville's song to her, I've been in the Indiana Jones stunt spectacular several times, performed with the Jamitors at Epcot. If someone needs a volunteer, I'm there!!! I'm even a fixture at the local Disney store.

I hear there's a show to sign up for on the cruise. Can I pre-register for that!:smooth:

Can't get enough of that Disney stuff!!!:bounce:

I think I heard that somewhere. ( ;) Laura!)

JAG? Cruise video? JAG??? Cruise Video???

Decisions, Decisions !!!!

Hey, that's great Gary! I'm glad you got your video! Is it the updated one with the Western itinerary? I need to reorder one. They forgot about me :(

With the Holidays coming up so quickly, our time is just going to fly!! I can't believe Thanksgiving is next week already.

Not at the same time, though!;)

It's the full meal deal with all itineraries.

I know what you mean about the Holidays, Chrissy!
