2/2/2012: Solo No More & Concierge on the Dream

Agreed. I also feel that way about the dining rooms and Palo. When for the first time ever my entree was truly AWFUL at Palo, I ate a tiny bit and no more but did not complain because I knew I'd be having the chocolate souffle and besides, it isn't like I hadn't been eating enough on the ship already - lol.

I did inform our server about why I did not like my entree but made it POLITELY clear that I did not want to "send it back and order something else" or anything, and that I did not need or care to speak with the chef. Yet he appeared with his hands on his hips, very confrontational, and literally argued with me about the food even though I at first tried to say maybe I just made a bad selection, in the hope that he would just leave. But NO - as Holly witnessed (and probably EVERYONE in Palo witnessed), that chef tried to ARGUE with me! That is the ONLY reason I rated the food as POOR on the comment card. Otherwise I'd have sloughed it off as my own bad choice and given him the benefit of the doubt. We found out later that apparently he is NOT the "preferred" chef. ;)
That's how we would have handled the situation too. We are easy going and would have chalked it up, awful entree, to live and learn on our part. For the chef to come out and argue with you was not right at all.
Also, FYI for those who have not sailed on the Dream in a suite: THERE IS A SCALE IN THE MASTER BATHROOM!

How's that for a "You'll find wonderful food all around the ship and the Concierge Lounge always has goodies so enjoy your cruise! Oh, and here is a classy glass scale for your convenience. Don't forget to weigh yourself after every meal!" :rotfl2:
Just what everyone wants to see after dinner is the scale in the bathroom. Needless to say ours wasn't used. It's not just a DCL thing though because we had one in our suite on NCL too.

They don't do that in non-Concierge staterooms. I wonder why they think suite guests would WANT to be faced with a scale while on vacation? :confused3 :lmao:

And here is a photo of our AMAZING server I had requested five months earlier - - the incomparable Szilard Pintacsi from Hungary. He is occasionally a Head Server and will likely be moving to that position full-time soon.

Maybe they think the scale is an added "perk" :lmao: Good to hear(and see) you had an amazing server this cruise because it really does make a HUGE difference!

I've only had one bad DCL server in 15 cruises so far, and that was the one other time Holly sailed. So I had checked with Szilard months ago to be certain we could get him. He's always WONDERFUL! :goodvibes

I'm pretty sure I saw you too sitting in the front and leaving Golden Mickeys! I tried to call your name and catch up to you guys but everyone was so pushy! :scared1:

Yes, they sure were! And we were sitting in the front row, but Holly had to walk over to the wall/ramp when arriving and leaving, to avoid the steps, so I went that way with her. VERY pushy crowd!

Our room host was great. If you ever have Riyanto, you will be extremely well taken care of. (I do wonder how he "saw" taswira jogging on Deck 4 though....you can't see down there from up there).
Holly - Tonight I caught some of "Cruise, Inc." on CNN. They were profiling how things are on NCL ships. On the Pearl, they showed the video feeds from surveillance cameras ALL over the ship - saying they could pretty much see everything everywhere except the restrooms and private staterooms. Since the Dream is new, I'm betting she has loads of surveillance cameras also. I don't know where the monitors are, but I think that's the ONLY way Riyanto could have actually SEEN me jogging on deck 4. :confused3

OMG - Now I'm REALLY going to be self-conscious on the Fantasy!!!!!!!
