2/2/2012: Solo No More & Concierge on the Dream

I've loved reading your PTR so far! :) I'm on this cruise too. Can't wait! I thought I was the only one who carries a stuffed animal around with me XD I have a little stuffed mickey mouse that I got on my first trip to the World! He goes on every trip with me. :thumbsup2

Thanks! I enjoy taking Duffy to WDW occasionally and on some DCL cruises for the photo ops. It can be a lot of fun. :goodvibes

And of course I recognize you from our cruise meet thread. As of tomorrow we'll only be 7 weeks from sailing!

I also travel solo [can't find a friend interested in Disney or has the money]

My question is - is there a solo traveler's group for DCL ?

Lori

Lori - Several years ago I started this thread - SOLO Central - WDW & DCL on the "Disney for Adults & Solo Travelers" board here. It has been mostly WDW.

I've sailed solo on many of my DCL cruises, and when I haven't, I've been with a friend or relative (adult) - No kids. I have never found a "solo traveler's group" for Disney cruises. I think that would work well for people who live in the same area and could meet beforehand (If you are talking about sharing a cabin), but could otherwise be risky.

My 2 February 2012 Disney Dream cruise docs arrived on Christmas Eve! Holly's did not, but I am sure they are on their way to her. :)

We completed our online check-in. We don't have an assigned port arrival time because I am Platinum and we are both Concierge. That works a lot better than a one is/one isn't scenario since we are arriving together in my car.

I expect this to be a FUN, although brief, cruise. I did one 3-night sailing long ago and stayed awake most of the time because I thought the time aboard the ship was too valuable to waste by sleeping. But even a short DCL cruise is better than none, and this will prep us for our upcoming 7-night on the Fantasy. :goodvibes

Still waiting for our docs here! Are you staying on the boat in Nassau? We've never had the chance to. We've only had time for 3 day cruises and every time we go, one of my friends who has never been to Nassau comes with me. So I've been to Nassau 3 going on 4 times! :lmao: Getting kinda old! haha

Haha - Yes, I am definitely staying on the ship in Nassau! I've been there before and I can't think of any reason (for me) to get off the ship there again. :lmao:

I hear too many stories about Nassau to even want to get off the ship. I'm on this cruise FOR the ship, so other than CC, won't get off of it. And may not spend that much time at CC either.

Hopefully my cruise docs will arrive this week. There was no mail service today.

They were mailed out on the 19th Holly. It's the slow holiday mail service. I miraculously got lucky I guess. ;)

If so, Santa must have lost his way after he left my place on Christmas Eve. :santa: :lmao:

18 days to sailing! :cool1:

For anyone into booking last-minute: Verandah rooms are all that is left on this Dream cruise. They start at $1293.24 for a 7A for TWO adults, and only slightly more as you move up through the various verandah categories. That's cheap, for Disney. ;)

Now that I am finally starting to feel better from having had bronchitis -
:ssst: :tiptoe:
Still haven't packed though.
I've packed several times - lol. I haven't changed anything that I'm taking. I just keep moving my stuff from one bag to another. It all fits in my smallest bag that's small enough to fit under an airline seat (even though I'm not flying anywhere), but I'm trying to decide if it would be more likely to get lost or damaged because of that! :scratchin

Well they gave me some really strong antibiotics and they seem to be doing their job. I'm no longer contagious, (would not go on the cruise if I were), its now just a matter of feeling strong again. MUCH better today.

I hope you both have a great time! Looking forward to seeing you both on the 1/26/13 cruise (that is still over a year away, *sigh*). Also looking forward to hearing about your cruise on the Fantasy in April!

Sailing 11 days from today! :cool1:

I am looking forward to - -

  • Cat. T Concierge. I am ready to be spoiled a bit!
  • Seeing Szilard, one of my favorite servers.
  • Exploring the Dream.
  • Enjoying room service. ;)
  • Sitting on the verandah, a lot, especially morning and evening.
  • Being at sea even though there are no sea days. I like to watch the ocean when we are actually moving.

Also looking forward to seeing how Holly packs and what size bag she brings this time. :rotfl2: ;)
