2/17/07 - Eastern cruise - updated with requested information (see post 32)

Lisa, I am thinking about you today on your renewal ceremony, please do tell us all about it.

Here's another Dismeet request for more info

Lisa-
I thought of you today during our school cancelled, snowy/rainy/icy yucky day. I bet it was MUCH nicer on CC!
....still waiting for info on your vow renewal....

O.K. Lisa....another pain in the rear-end DISer who NEEDS this info from you. It is now Sat. so you are in the docking phase of your trip.....so I sit anxiously by the computer:surfweb: waiting for the TR....expecially on the VR  , because I have issues. ;)

I am certain that it all went well.

Cheryl

Hey Sue...Mom of 3, I just took notice of your local.....we are neighbors.

Che

Lisa, we are all stalking you, we want details, hope that you had a wonderful time on your second week, of course it could not be as wonderful as the first week, as we were not there.......

Hi Lisa,

Welcome Home !!!

Can hardly wait to hear how week 2 went. Week 1 was so great, we had such a great time. Can hardly wait to do it again.

Pam

How did you get so many PALO reservations? Is it because you went in off season?

Also, can you tell me more about St. Thomas.... i didn't realize there were tenders there. We love sailing and snorkling so i'm also more curious about your St. Thomas excursion.

Thanks for the post

Hey guys! We're finally home and guess what . . . its Sunday morning and we're STILL doing laundry. My last load is in the dryer and I'm now beginning Courtney's washing. We came home to her telling us that the washer wasn't working correctly. All is well and its been going non-stop.

Dixielanding - we had two rooms booked on our first cruise with an adult in each room therefore, we had the ability to make 2 dinner and 2 brunch reservations! A nice perk if you're paying for more than one room. Even after boarding, you can still request more ressies in Rockin Bar D.

Okay -- the vow renewal -- it was really nice! I had my camera set wrong so my photos aren't as nice as they should be. I still have images on my SD card to download and process . . . I can't believe I'm so far behind on doing that. I may begin shooting sports as early as tomorrow so I need to take care of that today.

The cake was gorgeous and scrumptious! I sent the bottom layer to the cruise staff (Trent, Mike, Pikey, Natalie, Sheika, Paul, Christian and the others). I figured that most renewal couples send their leftovers to the Kids Club staff so I thought I would take care of the staff that takes care of us adults! We had the cake top on Castaway Cay night in Palo. We invited the other four people that were our restaurant tablemates to join us in Palo that night figuring they could help us drink the bottle of Fairytale Couvee and eat the cake. We gave the leftover top layer to the Palo staff.

I don't know if you all realize it but the servers (restaurant and Palo) don't eat the same foods that we are served. Both staffs were greatly appreciative for the leftovers.

During the week we received two spa robes with the Disney Fairytale Wedding logo embroidered on them, the All Hands on Deck cheese and cracker plate, a plate of fresh fruit, a cookie plate, and after our renewal, another bottle of Fairytale Couvee with choc covered strawberries and chocolate pastries.

While we were at Palo Thursday night after the renewal, Rodolpho decorated our bed with two kissing swan towel animals surrounded with red rose petals in the shape of a heart and our vow renewal certificate. It was quite nice!

For our 8x10 photo that was complimentary (hahaha -- you know we paid for it in our renewal fee), we went to Preludes on formal night to have our photo taken with Mickey and Minnie. Once I scan it, I'll post a copy of it.

Week 2 did bring jewelry purchases for me! In Grand Cayman, we purchased a really nice looking Seiko silver watch for me with a band that resembles a bracelet. I was more than happy with that one when Ed decided that he wanted to shop the next day in Cozumel for another watch for me. Of course, the one we really liked was $13,000 so . . . you guessed it, we let it stay in the showcase! We did settle on a silver Gucci with a mother-of-pearl face and diamonds on the two side edges with a bracelet type design for the band.

Here's a tip for all of my disfriends that enjoyed Diversions and Rockin Bar D (as well as the wine, martini and margarita tastings -- oops and beer tastings) . . . .

When you do get to go on the Western Itinerary -- Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville in Grand Cayman was KICKING! We definitely preferred it to Carlos 'n Charlies and Senor Frogs in Cozumel. Margaritaville in GC has only been open for 4 months and is about a block from the terminal. It has a pool on the 2nd floor for the kiddies (and parents). The bar is on the 2nd floor and due to its elevation and construction, it was quite comfortable (not hot) as the breezes blew through the building. There is a DJ and lots of singing and interaction. I didn'[t check out their menu but I know the one in New Orleans has great food.

I'll be back later when I catch my breath and collect my thoughts (and navigators for reference).

Lisa-
How is everyone at home? Courtney OK??

I was living in denial that the trip was over...but I do plan a TR tomorrow (or at least start one). I am going to scan and upload the Navigators from the 2/17 too.

just an aside...
friends of mine just took their kids to WDW for a few days. One of the kiddos is only 11 months. My friend was telling me about the trip, and how their favorite EPCOT attraction was Spaceship Earth. "It was so relaxing and dark, so Chelsea could take a short nap and we could relax." What do you think I did?? Burst out laughing!
Spaceship Earth will never be the same again.:lmao:
Of course, I had to tell her about MYM and the couple forever known to us as the Spaceship Earth couple. Her face was priceless!

Just wondering - Why did you decide to change your dining rotation?
Thanks for the trip report - I also enjoyed the follow up on the vow renewals.

Regarding the rotation change --

I wanted to have Pirate Night in Parrots and formal night in Lumiere's. I had also planned my Palo nights according to the menu I didn't want to eat in the regular restaurants.

Sue:

Courtney is okay other than a bump on her forehead. Hopefully we'll see no more reoccurrences. She did go to the doctor last Monday and he did bloodwork and found no obvious reason for her seizure or whatever it actually was.

I'm scanning my 2/24 navigators as I type.

Ed was getting out of the shower a few minutes ago and commented how the servers, room hosts, etc are on day 2 of just another week at sea. I don't think I'd like to have their jobs at all. Now . . . maybe the cruise staff or the wine crew . . . hehe.

yes, the wine crew--the smallest but happiest team on the ship!

Sue:

We did two wine tastings in week 1 and did Palo 4 times. Logi is in Palo. We saw him ALL the time it seemed. Logi took extra special care of us in week 2!

Did ya'll do a martini tasting? It wasn't as entertaining (at all) as what the wine tasting was. I know we didn't have you guys with us but the "presentation" was nothing compared to what Logi and his crew gave us at the wine tasting.

I really didn't have a complaint at all about anyone in Palo, the wine crew, our stateroom host, the cruise staff or our week 1 serving team. I didn't cry until I hugged my week 1 server, Liam, goodbye.

I didn't do the martini tasting--I only like 1 or 2 types.

I did do the tequlia/margarita tasting though! VERY entertaining! (and informative too!) Simon ran the presentation. I'll post a pict when I do my TR and figure out how to post photos.

We did the martini tasting, and a lot of people that had signed up did not show up, so at the end they were asking questions and giving out the extra martinis, let just say, so I was very happy by the end of that tasting, I really did not know much about Martini, and have a much better inderstunding, and really did like quite a few of them, the passiontini was really yummy.....
LIsa, it does seem that your second week was great, did they have the same entertainers Gary Delena, etc.... or different ones?

Gary DeLena was a repeat at the beginning of the cruise. Seems he gets on at St. Thomas and gets off at Grand Cayman the following week. We had Rich Purpura (comedy) and Lynn Trefzger (ventroloquist) as well as a juggler, Greg Kennedy. We only went to Lynn Tefzger's adult set because it was before the MYM game. We didn't do any of the others. We really hung out in Diversions and the Cove Cafe in week 2.

Ya'll . . . *in all my cajun drawl* . . . the Banana Creme Pie Martinis and the Truffle something (Frangelica, Godiva, Vodka) Martinis in the Cove Cafe were sooooo yummmyyyy!!!!!

My all time favorite martini is the chocolatini but if I had the recipe for the banana creme pie martini, that one would probably be in hot contention!
