***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

Amazon doesn't deliver fruit and veg. And we won't have a car (using magical express ). My concern is that they will deliver to bc and put it in the convention center and because we arrive at night we won't be able to get it until later
I think that you may want to check garden grocer website. They do have a delivery fee (which made me want to just go with a car service and do a grocery stop) and in my opinion, not much variety of fruits? I looked for my son, I found the usual ones in large quantities- apples, bananas... They sell individual ones too but pretty pricey.

Yes exactly. Garden grocer has a minimum $40 order and charges $14 in delivery. So I'm really questioning if I'm going to spend more than $54 at the marketplace for bottled water, gatorade, some bagels with peanut butter and some fruit and veg. I know you can even buy fresh fruit and veg at the parks (albeit pricey).

Yes if they have a mini grocery in the DVC portion of the resorts, maybe you could just visit that? The only thing is I'm not sure how much fresh veggies they would have? Is your daughter particular about the type of fruits and veggies she gets?

I don't know if CR and BC are different, but at Poly there was a store that sold alcohol, snacks, milk, fruits, frozen meals, ice cream etc. in the great ceremonial house, they had bananas and apples. At captain cooks there was also a few fresh veggie/fruit options to purchase individually.

Maybe @Lisa F knows of the stores at the other resorts are just as convenient to the rooms, and sell similar items.

I haven't stayed at BC/YC in the past 6 years, and never paid attention to the store or qs then.

I'm wondering if i should just pack some snacks, fruit and cheese in a cooler bag through the airport! I think i should be fine with those from Canada... :rotfl:

I've been having the same conversation with myself - doing dxddp and I'd like to just order a case of water to bring with me but how much of my time is it worth to save $30 on water? or whatever. Honestly I'd probably just end up buying as I go, which is what I did last time and in your case I would do that too - pick up some overpriced stuff at the little grocery store that is at the resort... it's not usually "in the dvc portion" - I think when there is a DVC associated they put in a grocery store in the main building (this is where it is at CR for sure, guessing same for Poly) They do have whole fruits (apples, oranges, bananas) and you can get cut fruit in the QS places at the resorts. Unless I was really planning to eat in the room the whole time I'd probably pay disney prices to save myself time and hassle.

At CR the store is right where you come into CR on the 4th floor from the bridge that goes to BLT.

At BWV there is a store down on the boardwalk.

I am pretty sure at BC there is a store that is near (or even part of?) the QS there

I have never stayed at the Poly so I don't know, but since they renovated some long houses into DVC units and it's not like they built a whole separate building, I would assume they expanded whatever little convenience store they had there before. I think even without DVC you could always buy a few things.

I packed Zone bars, individual sized graham cracker snacks for my kid, cereals, and 2 packs of horizon milk singles.

The fruit and cheese may be an issue, but definitely try to bring a few items. Then you can buy the rest at the resort store instead of taking time and $ to go off property. :)

I know what you mean, plus the hassle of moving/ packing those things from one resort to another...

I can't remember who is canadian now, lol, but if bringing food into the country is not an option I am sure that bagels and PB are things that can be stashed in your suitcase. Now I am thinking about the fact that southwest allows 2 bags per person and I have 3 planned total, I might bring a 4th bag and throw a case of bottled water and some snacks for the room into it, then have plenty of room to pack for return.

You can buy packs of bottled water at the resort store too! It's about the ONLY thing in WDW that is surprisingly not over priced! Lol. That's what we did.

the time to go off property is the big thing for me. who wants to spend vacation time with that hassle? It would be worth it if I was trying to save money (obviously I am not lol) and wanted to eat in the room the majority of the time to do a real shopping trip or use garden grocer. But for snacks... I would have to buy a lot of damn snacks at disney prices to be worth the time and hassle of going off property.

It's me and unfortunately, those are not the things I need. Cheese and milk are harder to pack! LOL! I'm thinking of just packing a few things in my carry on if I can, need to check what are the rules in bringing in items to the US.. then I would buy everything else there.

like a 6 pack at a time? i was thinking of also getting a filtered water bottle and filling it with ice water at the parks but I'm not sure it would do the trick OR save money... like if I have to buy two filtered water bottles at $30 a piece maybe I should just buy a few cases of bottled water and even pay as I go and get it fresh and cold as we need it. When I was there in september we shared a bottle at a time because it doesn't stay cold very long and just bought fresh as needed. or maybe some combo of the two.

ARGH WATER

Try the milk that I posted the link to, or something similar. It was great to have the individual sizes there! My kid is weird about different milk brands. He no longer likes the milk that Starbucks carries since they switched, and last time we were there he took one drink and threw it away.
I wanted to avoid any issue like that so just brought it with us.

Yup, I will! I should try the Starbucks one with my DS2 when we're out once... I switch his milk regularly (I don't stick to one brand, I just take what I can find) so maybe he won't be as picky... here's to hoping. For sure I would need to find string cheese for him and pack his cookies in the luggage. He does not like regular cheese for some reason. :P

Yep, you can buy 6 packs. I forget the price, but definitely remember thinking that it was a lot less than I expected. It's nice to have for the coffee too.

Starbucks used to carry Horizon and now they switched to something else. We aren't only Horizon drinkers, we switch back and forth with soy, almond and cashew as well. And he drinks milk at restaurants. But I've purchased different brands at gas stations etc on road trips-- and sometimes he just says it tastes gross. So I don't even know what his 'preferred brands' are.lol...I just know I'd rather be safe than sorry.

if he is not picky, at 2 there is no reason you can't give him 2% that is available at all of the qs. my son never had whole milk because he was still nursing and I kept 1% on hand (he was getting the fats he needed from my milk). pretty sure that by 2 they don't need while milk bit I do understand that for some kids it is a preference and for some little peanuts they need the extra calories. not sure if whole vs 2% is the issue here.

Oh btw @Lisa F , the bottled water situation on cruise ships- kills me.

I wish I could pack it! Especially since I'm not even an Evian fan.
There is no way I'm going to be able or really want to deal with carrying it on though. I'm sure they count on that!

I would probably try out both starbucks and 2% before the trip. I find that I want him to get more fat in his milk because I feel he's a skinny mini... but that's just me. I think he's a little below average when we went to the doctor but not way below. If ever, a lot of ice cream would solve the problem! LOL!
