I would probably try out both starbucks and 2% before the trip. I find that I want him to get more fat in his milk because I feel he's a skinny mini... but that's just me. I think he's a little below average when we went to the doctor but not way below. If ever, a lot of ice cream would solve the problem! LOL!
I get that. My 6 year old still drinks whole milk when we're at home. Or one of the full fat cashew, almond etc. he's a skinny mini too.

What about the pediasure shakes? The sidekicks, not the regular ones. We pack those a lot when go out of town.

Eta- just a suggestion- buy one horizon single at the store, (the singles are low fat) see if he likes it. Also buy a 6 pack of pediasure sidekicks. If he likes both then they are easy to buy at your local store and easy to put in your suitcase! Then you have the milk and nutrition situation taken care of between the 2 :)

Never tried that but it's on my list to try for him. I worry about him not wanting to eat actual food when we get there so we need to supplement with something. He had a lot of milk when we went to Great Wolf Lodge because he didn't want anything from the buffet there. This is also most likely why I would need to insert some Asian food while at Disney. That's something he would eat for sure!

I would definitely get them then!! Try a few of the flavor first and hopefully he'll like it. My son loves them! I don't use them daily, but they are great for travel and overnight trips.

Are you doing an Asian meal while at Epcot?

Thinking of doing Tokyo Dining instead of Coral Reef (no availability), thinking about Morimoto too for lunch as well as Yak and Yeti in AK. Most restaurants should have something he would like but we've never been on a trip with him for that long so I don't really know what to expect with him eating out every day.

I don't know if he would like any of these but maybe try to pack Belvita, kid's Z Bars, Quaker bars- to keep in your bag at the parks, and the Sidekicks to drink in the room during a break. That's obviously not enough to eat, but all of them will be a good supplement and back up if he doesn't like a lot of the food at restaurants, combined with any fruit and veggies you can purchase at the resort store.

I can't remember who is canadian now, lol, but if bringing food into the country is not an option I am sure that bagels and PB are things that can be stashed in your suitcase. Now I am thinking about the fact that southwest allows 2 bags per person and I have 3 planned total, I might bring a 4th bag and throw a case of bottled water and some snacks for the room into it, then have plenty of room to pack for return.

This is our plan! We are flying Southwest too and will have 3 tickets but only planning 2 bags - one for my husband and me and one for the kids. I'm going to pack another suitcase with diapers and snacks and then on the trip home, we will have room for the souvenirs we bought!

Sounds good! I think i would start looking for these things and see if he would like them for snacks. :) he likes sweets (bad mama!) so not sure how he would like those.

Belvita are kind of sweet, and the Z bars come in a many flavors that are sweet as well! It's protein disguised as candy bar :). I haven't bought these in a few years- but check out Earth's Best as well, they had nutrition snack bars too.

yeah I do not think at disney that kids have a problem maintaining caloric intake if they don't get whole milk with all of the treats. Unless your child is the type to be too excited to eat at all and then it is rough. Mine is a big kid so I never worry about him losing weight, but if your kiddo will tolerate the 2% and a supplemental ice cream then I would just take this worry off of my plate :) some people think that your kid NEEDS whole milk to be healthy but they don't... I do know some parents make that choice due to weight and preference issues and totally not judging. Just pointing out it won't make your kiddo any less healthy. We drink 1% (well i mostly drink unsweetened cashew myself now) but when they are out of it in the store brand organic I will buy 2% so I don't have to go back to the store and because it is like 2/3 the price of the other brands. My kid goes gaga over 2% lol.

We were staying at boyfriend's aunt's house around xmas and I wake up and she (87 and has never had kids, just lots of nieces and nephews) has given my kiddo breakfast. I see my kid literally licking the bottom of the cereal bowl. I'm like geez, you never like cheerios that much when I give them to you! Found out that she added some half and half to the 1% milk because she is of the old fashioned mind that all children should be drinking whole milk :rotfl:I was like no, please, he does not need half and half in his cereal! we drink 1% at home. Poor kid never forgave me :)

Oh btw @Lisa F , the bottled water situation on cruise ships- kills me.

I wish I could pack it! Especially since I'm not even an Evian fan.
There is no way I'm going to be able or really want to deal with carrying it on though. I'm sure they count on that!
If I do the NY cruise I think I could probably check a case of water and also some booze since I won't have to fly, lol

I'm Canadian too.
I'm thinking it might not be worth the hassle and cost with GG - they are charging A LOT for fruits and veg! from what I have read the BC Marketplace (QS) has a little store attached where you can buy food. Mostly frozen meals but I think they do carry bottled water (I agree with @Lisa F on not buying a filtered water bottle - too much $) and I know I can get fruit and veggies in the park. I can throw in my suitcase a few bagels and PB (they may get squished though? so maybe bagels in carry on) and granola bars. I'll look to see if I can get gatorade packets or maybe Emergen-C which helps with dehydration to mix with water (but really, in Dec, will it be that hot there?). Clif and Lara bars I can pack as well. I don't know if you're supposed to bring food over the border though.

you can have 2 bags per person too, not just 1. The bigger problem is water throughout the day. I don't want to have to carry a super heavy bag with a ton of water bottles but we need to drink a lot. So I think maybe I'll start with one each and buy throughout the day. it is just the easiest (albeit most expensive) thing to do - my kiddo is very picky about it being "fresh and cold."

Oh my gosh that's funny!

What I keep in the house is different than what we eat out. I don't keep snack foods (besides hummus and pita), the only beverages you will find in my fridge are bottles of water and milk. I'm a big juicer and never buy store bought juice.

Like a year and a half ago I had to go out of town on business for 2 nights, my son stayed with my parents. When I picked him up the first thing he said was "Mommy will you buy syrup?" I was in shock, he has kashi waffles several time per week for breakfast and we smash blackberries on them- no syrup in my house. Well, after the stay at my parent's blackberries no longer made the cut. He also had store bought apple juice and said he liked it better than the juice I give him. Totally ruined it. I still don't buy juice, but I gave in on the syrup.lol.

I'm sure you can get PB and bagels at the BC too. Again won't be as cheap but... at the very least you can get a bagel and cream cheese at the quick service places, you could porb sub pb

Also can I just say I am relieved that I'm not the only one with a picky eater at Disney. I'm scared she won't eat and then that will lead to meltdowns (she has low blood sugar). But I don't want her to live on granola bars and fries! Thats why I want to pack things like cucumbers, carrots, celery and fresh fruit because at least she eats that and it's healthy!

Wow you guys are so healthy. I need to work on that. I'm definitely not a healthy eater but DH is worse than me... Drinks a lot of pop. We eat out a bit too... DS luckily is much healthier than we are, eats a lot of fruits and cooked/ steamed veggies. Eats some biscuits but the plain ones for kids. He would eat from our plates occasionally but that's not the norm. So going to Disney is probably going to be a challenge because it's 12 days of not eating home food! I would be packing a lot of extras or cancel all my ADRs and just eat at Nine Dragons and Tokyo Dining everyday!

@Lisa F i have read on the boards you can get water from CS? Or is water there awful?

Like I said, what I keep at home and what we eat out are VERY different! I feel like that keeps a balance. But here's an example of what we eat while on an outing-
It's a funnel cake sundae. The amount of calories in it? I don't know, but I don't think I can count that high ;) we've had 2 this year already! image.jpegimage.jpeg

Not sure as to what we can bring but i think bagel and PBshould be fine? I need to research on fruits and vegetable though.
