***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

Ugh, that is a nightmare. I hope they can get it all worked out. It really is too bad when work gets in the way of life! Hopefully you get everything done before your trip!

Yay! I wonder when I'll get my ME tags? I used the local AAA office to book my trip, which was such a waste since they don't do any discounts and my TA hasn't reached out to me or done anything.

Anywho, I am a smidge worried about Zika. Not enough to cancel the trip, but I'll bring bug spray and try to avoid standing water. But, it's Florida where the state bird is the mosquito, so it is what it is.
I went to Punta Cana last year, and was amazed the whole time about how few bugs I'd seen. I only got one mosquito bite the entire trip, on my leg. At the end of the trip, I got really sick. After suffering a couple of days at home, DH made me go to the ER. Turns out that ONE bite I got had given me the chikungunya virus. :sad2: It was awful...kind of like having food poisoning, flu, sinus infection, and severe arthritis all in one. Luckily I got over it, and now that I've had it once I can't get it again. I was hoping it would also make me immune to Zika, but from what I've read that's a no go.
Yikes! One bite is all it takes... Glad you got over it!

Thanks for the well wishes, it's highly appreciated!

Anyway, we got our ME information today in the mail with our tags (that we won't be using, but they're still fun to receive!

I know this can be a hot button, but I feel like I could ask in this thread-- does anyone have any worry about Zika?
is it a hot button? why? (don't want to start anything asking lol)

my oven is closed so no not worried. I have more chance getting sick from some snotty nosed kid who is wiping their nose on their hands and their hands on everything they see than a mosquito.

I think people like arguing about it :confused3

Yup bringing lots of anti bacterial wipes and such too :rotfl:

I know people have such varying opinions about this! But, as for me, >:(I HAAAATE mosquitos!!!!!! I know nobody is really affectionate towards them, but I hate them.
The thing with mosquitos which I've noticed is that if you're the type of person that gets harassed and pestered by them incessantly, then you see them everywhere! They never bite my husband and seem to so far leave my girls alone, and they're always asking me "what mosquitos?!" Grrrrr
Anyway, that's really horrible @areno79 :( what a terrible and probably uncommon experience. We had quite a few cases of EEE around where I live. I'm just paranoid about them :( they're gross. Anything that sucks blood is gross! Except vampires. Vampires seem cool .
I have researched bug spray ad naseum. I try to use different kinds on the girls for different places/ body parts etc. and like @LBlovesM&WDW i really rely on the ones sans deet or a ton of chemicals if possible. Picaridin is supposedly better I think?
As for zika, I am in the same boat as @Iowamomof4 and @Candycane83 . There is just not enough research on this thing. We have no plans to grow our family, but I'm concerned about long term effects on anyone in general.

In sum: concerned:confused:? yes. Still going? :teeth:Absolutely. Prevention ; bug spray, even though I don't like slathering it on the kids; better safe than sorry.
I've thought about blowing the kids up in a bubble and just rolling them around....but the mosquitos would likely puncture through it anyway :thumbsup2

Okay. I'm just not sure what there is to argue about lol. I guess that is a good thing.

is anyone else having trouble with the disboards this morning? running very slow and buggy for me.

It's been like that for me a couple of days now... It's not as bad this morning though.

I like the bubble idea:laughing: You're right about mosquitoes though, they carry a lot of disease, not just zika. I have not bought bug spray yet... I actually have some citronella stickers that may work well but we would all smell like that which will probably make everyone avoid us :rotfl2:

bugs are not a HUGE problem at disney because they practice integrated pest control (release mosquito predators into the environment). I've never been bitten there so I am not going to worry about it any more than anywhere else where I might get bitten by a stray mosquito (as opposed to a field at dusk where I am sure to be!)

Wow, I'm pages and pages behind! I'm super impressed with everyone's planning. I feel like I'm slacking! I think I'm so used to going in April that it feels wierd to be thinking FP at this time of year.
70 days until we leave for WDW!!! I can't believe it's this close.
Got my Crystal Palace breakfast ADR for Dec 2 finally! Yippee!
I'm not even thinking about mosquitos. I don't think in all my years of going to Disney that we've ever had a bite even without bug spray. I have more of a paranoia about tics (not in Disney, just in general). They freak me out.
Hope everyone has a great day!

I'm behind with you! I have 1 week exactly to get it together. I've gotten stuck with our last 3 days and deciding which parks to do when.
This is exactly me!!! :rotfl: I keep thinking if I should just go to MK and Epcot or a second night at AK... I have a week and a half to get it together!

How's everyone doing with their FP planning? I feel like I'm behind...

ROL really threw a wrench in my plans! The last two days I've been taking a fresh look at our park days and making sure we're getting everything covered that we care the most about. It's been a bit of a "fruit basket upset" sort of thing, but I think I'm coming around to a plan I can live with. Just a few more tweaks and I'll be there. I really had settled on ROL not being ready in time for us to see it on this trip.

That's great! I feel like there are so many uncertainties in nighttime activities so it's hard to plan around those... I always had a spot open for AK at night, I would have just done an early night and be ok with an early night. But now I'm thinking if I want a second night there... :faint:

How bad does everyone think Epcot would be on a night with pm emh? Especially if we're primarily just wanting to walk around WS and it's our last day so we've already ridden everything a time or two (or three...).

How's everyone doing with their FP planning? I feel like I'm behind...
Funny you ask, I hit a wall last night.. And I'm so tired today :( I've been second guessing everything. Like my adr dinners being too early, not having enough time in MK, fp not lining up with what I'd like to accomplish on a certain day....I'm trying to take into account sdfp, but I don't like that it's not a guarantee....also starting to wonder if I really should try to join you all for the parade scouting or just try to see as much as possible at the party and stop wherever we are to see the parade...
RoL is a huge " really want to see" for me. But, the fact that it's still not official and no idea of times or if I can even get a dining package is wearing me out :faint:..

.. I'd really like to add one more day :D... (Just ONE more ) but... Actually the only reason is risking flying home on a Sunday and hitting a snow storm. I really can't have my daughter miss another day of school. And the night before the trip would just be starting off exhausted the next morning.. So one extra day is out .:charac2:

ticks are a huge problem here too and tick borne disease is also a huge problem (and rather than getting sick for a week, you can be sick for life. it's awful :( ). so yeah that is probably why I am like zika virus. eh. I'm 42 and on the magic no baby pills so I'm not worried about the impact on an unborn child. It is less likely than so many other things to make me sick for a few days and then go away, it doesn't even register.

If I wanted to have a baby i twould be different.

I'm doing OK with my FP selections. I posted a link to my selctions the other night.

But i was looking at my plans and think I need to change a couple of ADR.

I really, really, really, really want to have lunch or dinner at CP. I currently have a lunch scheduled for 1:40 on 12/5.. Now that I changed our departure time from 7am to 6pm Ill have any extra park day. Leaving the morning of 12/5 kids choice. My gut tells me that we will choose AK.
So, I need a new CP ADR..... either 12/2 before the party(lunch or dinner), 11/30 after 4pm, 12/6 (lunch) by 2 pm.

Oh the struggle is REAL!

Please trust me when I say this: It's never enough. We have 10 days and I'm STILL struggling to get everything figured out and make sure we're spending enough time in each park and not running ourselves ragged getting to ADR's and... and... and...

Are you staying on site? I know someone around here decided to stay offsite but I don't think that was you. Anyway, maybe you should check your 2017 calendar and be prepared to book a bounceback while you're there. It only takes a $200 deposit and you can still cancel and get your deposit back if you decide not to go, but having something booked can really take the sting out of leaving. :)
