***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

Question regarding CP dinner packages-

I will be unavailable in late June and 1st few days of July.. If the packages are released at that time will they sell out?

I used a travel agent for this trip..will she be able to book for me worst case? (I'm way too much of a control freak for that, but may have no other choice)
I don't think they sell out super fast and I think they typically come out second week of July... July 8th last year? so you should be good. I'm sure some restaurants are more popular than others and would sell out faster. which restaurant were you wanting?

They say not to go on EMH morning days because the park is just busier that day because people at the resorts prioritize it. EMH is great but then later in the day the park is much more crowded. But with EMH and fast passes and then stuff that has little to no wait, you should be able to do everything you want regardless of crowds.
That makes sense, but since it's our last day before an early departure, we won't be staying late at the park anyway. We are doing 2 full days at Epcot and that will be day 2. Does anyone know if Joy and Sadness meet during EMH? Otherwise I think we might just do TT and Soarin during EMH and then come back to meet Joy and Sadness. Just worried about the line!

I am actually a castaway club gold member but all of my cruises were 2005 and before. I haven't cruised in 11 years! That's what happens when you have a child and then get a divorce I guess. I have never been on any of the newer ships (I keep wanting to call them boats, I live on an island and we live and die by the ferry and we always refer to that as a "boat" so it is hard shift for me to make).

The NY itinerary is appealing to me because it is mostly sea days and that is what i like about a cruise. Not sure I am so into all of the shore excursions with my kiddo. I have a hold on the 8 day cruise that includes the day at WDW (included in cost), CC and nassau. having been to the other caribbean locations they do not really interest me all that much as far as going with my kiddo. Europe is a different story but a $13k cruise is completely out of reach for me. I'm not sure I can swing this one and it is $3,600! (I definitely can but have been doing expensive disney trips every 2 years, not eveyr year)

But I think the options i'd look at would be a few days at WDW and then a few days on a cruise (so a 3 or 4 day) but the 8 day out of NY seems like a good alternative to that. only one day at disney instead of 3 but it really would be a more cruise focused vacation, which would be nice for a change. Whenever I cruised before my favorite days were the sea days, just so relaxing. But I don't need a $650 bill right now :P

That's great! I'm really excited to see Castaway Cay!

I haven't cruised since before my son, last one was in '09. Our November cruise will be his first! I've only been on 2, and never preferred cruising over land vacays-I enjoy spending time at a resort, diving, and exploring the local culture-or exploring a city if not at a beach location. But since it is only myself and a 6 year old traveling-I think the cruise will be a lot easier (on me and him) to see different places with him. Especially in Europe. I originally considered a self drive UK tour with a few days in Iceland on the way, but I don't know if he's ready for that much moving around.

$13k for cruise fare is out of reach and totally crazy to me. I booked MSC for UK/Iceland for MUCH MUCH less...as in over 50% less. On such a port intensive cruise I don't think DCL is worth the price in the slightest bit, even if I could pay 13k lol.

What's surprising to me is 7 nights on the Fantasy is actually costing less than our WDW trip last year- which made it justifiable. But I would never pay DCL summer prices. My main concern with the Mexican Riviera trip is being on the Wonder, I hope my child will enjoy it after being on 2 larger ships. Have you been on the Wonder? Did you enjoy it, and do you think a 7 year old (at time of travel) will have just as much fun without the "cool" slides when we have 3 sea days?

Side note- I've done the math on how much money I will save by cutting down to 2 Starbucks extra shot venti lattes per week- goal is eventually to cut down to one. I'm putting the amount I would usually spend daily, and transferring it into a separate savings account- by the time October '17 comes around, it should be a nice chunk of change! I'm implementing my plan starting today. I also read about using Disney gift cards, and am going to start buying from Target- hopefully pay the whole Wonder cruise by doing that- and combined with the Starbucks savings that should be a decent amount saved!. :) I didn't plan on 2 cruises in 2017- Iceland was the main focus of that year, so trying to "find" money to help with the justification.

I'm thinking Garden Grill again, we both enjoyed it. Do you have a different recommendation?

It's so funny you say this because our family LOVES cruising! My husband is actually a cruise consultant on the side. Although we've never done a Disney Cruise as they're really expensive, and we like the travel agent perks we get on other lines. WDW will be our first land vaction together (not counting little city breaks that are close to home like Montreal and Quebec). We love the kids club for DD (she doesn't want to leave!) and we love just lounging by the pool with a drink and relaxing in the sun with no pressure. We love the easy sea days with no rush to see or do anything. WDW is super stressful trying to get it all in and to be honest it may be our only trip there because compared to cruising the pricing is so much more for us. Before I was married I travelled on land tours and also explored countries on my own but I find it so much easier and more relaxing to do multiple countries from a cruise ship. Unpack once and you're done! Travel while you dine and sleep! (I think the paying out of pocket for meals and sticker shock is the thing that we have to get used to the most at WDW!)

Ok so- I was in COMPLETE STICKER SHOCK last year when I booked our WDW trip for 2015. No joke- I went to Turkey for 28 days for LESS than what that WDW trip cost.lol. After that Disney has somehow skewed my perception of reality to thinking that DCL isn't actually "that bad" of a price- on certain itineraries anyway.

But, it is a very limited time thing for us. I don't see doing one after 2017. I think Royal Caribbean's new ships look amazing, and think he would really enjoy them. So the chances of me becoming a gold/silver/platinum DCL cruiser are pretty much 0%.

I'm happy to hear that your kids enjoy cruising! I really think that my son will too! Like I said above, the moving around, unpacking/packing of a multi destination land vacay may just be too much headache.

I do wish that on our upcoming November/December land/sea trip that we would be doing the entire WDW stay before the cruise. But I just don't want to deal with all the crowds of Thanksgiving week for more than 1 day, so the post cruise visit 12/3-12/7 should (hopefully) be less crowded.

Where are you guys finding park hours? I haven't seen any for December yet.
December park hours are not out yet. There is Dec. 1 and 2 out on Disney's website, everyone else is guessing off of last year's hours and also Novembers. It is not fun.

I am not even looking at last year's hours... I'll wait til Disney officially releases them. Too much has changed this year with park hours, I don't want to be stressed or disappointed if they are different!

Garden Grill is one of my favorites. We are doing GG by itself and Coral Reef for the CP package but it doesn't much matter on DxDDP because it uses 3 credits and I get exactly the same entitlements no matter what. though half wondering if i should do GG for the CP package because then my kiddo might be able to order adult appetizer and dessert at CR... hmmmmmmmmm.

Okay, I thought I was missing something. I keep looking for the "most recommended" park calendars and for park times so I can plan my trip! I need to start making my list so I'm ready for ADRs and I have a busy week at work, plus the end of school crap, and a few days out of town all leading up to my window opening so I was hoping to make my plans this weekend.

I called Disney tonight, they gave me park hours up until the end of our trip. It seemed like the generic TA calender. There were No times for shows or fireworks, but they did have EMH listed. There was no extended hours for animal kingdom.

@1437disney would you mind sharing the EMH info they gave you?
December 3rd and 5th have none.
Dec. 4th has early HS
Dec. 6th has late at EP
Dec. 7th has late at MK
Sorry that was all I needed because we leave 3am on Dec 8th. I hope it helps you. I find it weird that so many days do not have EMH. Is this normal? I am hoping they will add them later to AK.

All those days that have none ought to be AK so that's really strange. Maybe they're waiting to see what all happens with the night time stuff. Perhaps they're hoping to add pm emh to AK at some point?

That is what I am wishing for!

I need help please. On my birthday (Dec. 6) my mom is taking our kids, so what is the best thing to do? I was thinking HDR (but I am a picky eater and will not eat anything off the menu), MVMCP or see La Nouba? Whatever we chose will be out of pocket. Or does someone else have another suggestion? This will be my DH and I first date night since our 10th anniversary (4 yrs ago). I am so excited.

Depends on what you are looking for. Romantic? how about dinner and La Nouba. Tons of fun without kiddos in tow? MVMCP - starting with an early TS dinner either in MK or at a monorail resort.
