***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

Now I'm just bummed! Really wanted to take advantage of evening EMH at epcot, but already bought MVMCP tickets for Tuesday. Touringplans had evening EMH on Thursday. Guess I have trusted their crowd calendar a little too much:crazy2:
Don't be bummed yet. it is all speculation until they release the actual dates.

I don't know if he has sensory issues but even if he doesn't, kids who do often have issues with loud sounds and some of the catalogs directed at those kids have good products. Ear plugs are better than ear muffs if you think your kiddo might be embarrassed... though it is dark and I'm pretty sure no one would judge in that situation, it's not like he is walking around with them all day long. Ear muffs might be more comfortable if he doesn't like the feeling of something stuck in his ears. Neither completely block sound but filter it down so it is tolerable, which is good, because he will still be able to hear the music but hopefully it won't be so startlingly loud

Ironically, it is my younger son who has the sensory issues, but they are all food texture related. He is fine with the noise. Go figure. You gave me a good idea though. I think I'll call the OT we used to see for my younger son, I bet she has good recommendations for the older one and noise. He's a bit of a fashionista so definitely the more inconspicuous the better for his ear plugs. Thanks

I had a brother that was petrified of fireworks when he was young, and actually, fireworks are pretty scary. I have a SIL that served several tours in Irag and Afghanistan and he can tolerate fireworks---mostly he he guts it out for the family. I really empathize, and if I saw anyone with ear plugs/muffs I certainly wouldn't judge--in fact, I'm all in favor of protecting the hearing of young children.

What about watching the fireworks from the beach at Poly or a restaurant? Would that help?

I'm still trying to decide on MVMCP. I love the parade but I'm not sure it is worth the expense this time around.

And I am having a really hard time finalizing dining plans. We are staying at BWV for the first part of our vacation so I am wanting to try some Boardwalk area places that we haven't before--like Yachtsman, Flying Fish, Captains Grille and maybe Beaches n Cream. Any recommendations anyone?

Beaches and Cream was really good and fun, but definitely good for OOP rather than using a dining credit. I've heard you can get smaller versions of the big sundaes at the walk-up place if you don't want to bother with a reservation there. We split a couple burgers and an order of onion rings and then some of us got our own dessert and others split one. We all had plenty to eat. I'm looking forward to trying Captains Grille for breakfast this time around. I'm hoping to hit Epcot morning emh, then walk to Yacht Club for breakfast, then boat to DHS for the rest of the day. :)

I bet if anyone thought anything of a kid wearing earmuffs they would think "wow, I wish I had a pair of those!" But that said, kiddie egos are fragile and I would not want to do anything to make my son feel embarrassed even if he doesn't have a reason to be. He has a number of special needs so this is always in the front of my mind, he is very sensitive to anything that makes him stand out as "different"... I can't even get him to wear boxer briefs even though no one sees them (for example) because he finds them "embarrassing." Not a battle I choose to fight even though his grandmother bought him some cute calvin klein ones.

So, we're now 10 days out from our ADR date! Is it sad for me to say that I'm clueless as to what I want? Taking a group this large has me nervous. I think I'm going to just wing it.

I may know what I want but it changes everyday so don't worry about it! :)

@Candycane83 we are in trouble. My parents just visited for the weekend and I live in a resort town. Breakfast at home, lunch out, dinner out. STUFFED AND TIRED OF EATING AFTER 2 DAYS!!!! All I could think is "oh no, WTH am I doing with the deluxe plan?!" I think it will be a LITTLE better given I am doing breakfast and dinner and no lunch but still... how am I gonna do 5 days when I was sick of eating after 2 restaurant meals a day for 2 days? lol and dinner on Friday.

Of course part of that is volume. I missed lunch at work on Friday and we ate SOOOOO MUCH. I am ok with spending the money but we are going to have to pace ourselves. I feel 10 lbs coming on.

Oh no! I'm thinking we should rethink all those ADRs! LOL! Money-wise, it seems like a good plan but 2 meals a day plus snacks might be pushing a little... I admit my logic of having 2 sit down meals at home does not account for appetizer mains and dessert. By how things are looking, we might have to cancel all the ADRs after the first part of our trip! Still... it's just so tempting to try many things! :rolleyes1

I think we are going to have to exercise restraint in not cleaning our plate. That is going to be the only way. Also one bite of this and one bite of that at the breakfast buffets. I do not need to stretch my stomach to the point where I could accommocate an entire turkey whole!

Can I join in?

We'll be at Ft Wilderness 11/27-12/4. It will be me, DH and Molly the Shih Tzu. DH isn't a Disney fan (but loves camping at the Fort) so only planning on MVMCP and, maybe, one park day. There will probably be a night out at DS. We'll have one day at SeaWorld and, if the weather cooperates one at Discovery Cove. DC is much more my husbands cup of tea so I've got my fingers crossed for at least one day of warmish temps!

How fun!!
Do you decorate your campsite? I just read about this recently, we are staying at CR and hoping to rent bikes at FW one day to see the campsites.

I've never been to FW or WL, we're going to check out both of them and the decorations on this trip.

Ok all-

6 days til I can do ADRs for Black Friday!!!

Is the general recommendation to just hold out and wait for CP package to be released? I think we'll do qs the rest of the day.. I won't be eating too much in order to save room for the week ahead lol

We did in October, I'm going to have to get DH to come up with something Christmassy, maybe Christmas lights and a Santa hat for our Mickey lamppost :-)

We love FW, if you have kids (or eveni if you don't!) a combo of the Giddy Up and Go meal from PJ's followed by s'mores at the campfire/sing-along with Chip and Dale makes for a fun and surprisingly affordable (for Disney) evening.

WL is GORGEOUS at Christmas!

Yes! Either we start stretching our stomachs while we're still home or we eat a little of everything at a buffet and keep it at that! LOL! I'm glad I'm mostly on buffets at DxDP, there's still more control to overeating when you know you're on a buffet again later in the day :scared:

lol I find buffets a lot less easier to NOT overeat because I am serving myself. when someone puts a preplated dish in front of me I feel the need to see it empty. Also I make multiple trips and take a tiny bit of this and a tiny bite of that and do not overload my plates at all... making sure things never touch. This is not an OCD thing, it is a dieting trick. When I am dieting I do ok at buffets, I load up on salads and lean proteins at first and then i take one plate with a bite each of all of the more rich stuff and a bite of dessert. The problem is EVERYTHING ON DISNEY BREAKFAST BUFFETS LOOKS GOOD ARGH.

Just got an e-mail offer for 30% during my dates! I called to have them apply it to my current reservations but was told that their system is down "going through enhancements". I'm worried if I wait too long that the offer will be gone, anyone have any encouraging words so that I don't go crazy. They suggested I call back tomorrow morning. I only worry because the email said it was limited.

yeah, if the system is down no one else can book it either! the system being down is being reported on the DIS in other threads so I think it really is down.
