This is our first Disney Cruise. We are going on the 3-day cruise from Dec. 21-24. We have two daughters - ages 9 and 5. Any suggestions on things we have to do? Are there any formal or semi-formal nights? Which shows and/or restaurants should we go to? What are some things that we should not miss? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
As for things you have to do - simple answer - relax and enjoy!
Seriously reading these boards for the next month will really help. Check out these two sites as well:
www.castawayclub.com
www.dcltribute.com
They are both packed with great information including Navigators and menus from previous cruises.
There are no true formal or semi-formal nights on the 3-day cruises but most people use the night they dine in Tritons as their dressiest night. They have backdrops set up for pictures every night so don't feel you'll miss out by night being dressed every night.
The wonderful thing about the Disney cruises is you will rotate to all three main resturants. Since this is your first cruise I would stick with these 3 and skip the adults only Palo. The 3 day is such a short cruise I think you'll want to spend it as a family. I would definately recommend all of the shows as well, especially for first timers. Great entertainment!
Sign the kids up for the clubs when you get on board (you'll get a paper when you check in that gives that info). Make time to read over the navigators each night to see what to do the next day. I recommend brining some colored highlighters so that you can highlight them.
If you don't do an excursion at Nassau maybe just do a quick walk through some of the shops to get the feel of the place - then go back and enjoy the ship. My DH and I go over to Atlantis on our own to enjoy the Dig and look around that great resort.
Castaway Cay is fantastic. Be sure and bring a disposable underwater camera - you'll get some great shots in the water!
Most of all enjoy your cruise! Word of warning -
DCL cruises are like potato chips - you can't have just one. We are booked on #6 next year!
PS - a great big welcome to the DIS to both of you!
