180 + 10 when you book through a travel agent?

We're getting close to our 180 + 10 mark, so I'm finalizing my restaurant plans. However, I have never booked dining reservations when I've booked through a travel agent (usually I book myself). When I go to book the restaurants, I will be asked to give my confirmation number, in order to get the + 10. Will my confirmation number work, even though it's not the same kind of confirmation number you get when you book your trip yourself? I know that when you do the online check-in, you use different links to do so, depending on whether you booked the trip yourself or through a travel agent. Do I make sense??? I just want to be sure to get the 180 + 10, in order to get some of my most important restaurants. Thanks so much! :goodvibes

As long as you have your Disney confirmation number from your TA (vs. some TA-unique # that didn't come from Disney), you can book your reservations using 180+10. You can check with your TA to see if they have given you the Disney confirmation #.

Yes, just get the Disney confirmation number from the TA. They should have it in their system or at the least they can call for it. Your TA can also book the reservations for you, most will, I know they do at AAA.

CJK - did it work? I am not at 180 days yet, but have been trying to "retrieve my reservation" and it's not working (was told by the operator at the toll-free # that only the TA can retrieve it, but who knows if that is correct or not).

So I figured I would see whether you were indeed able to take advantage of the 180+10 on-line even though you used a travel agent.

TIA.

When we booked DLR through Costco travel we were unable to retrieve our reservation even though the Costco travel agent is really a WDTC agent. It's booked in a different system and can't be looked up on the regular Disney site. Also, the TA is the only one that can make changes, etc. on that reservation.

Thanks for letting me know!

Lesson learned - think this will be my 1st and last time using a TA.

Thanks for letting me know. Our 180 days hasn't started yet. I just know my travel agent won't be online at 6am to book our important ressies for us, which is why I wanted to do it myself. I've asked our travel agent for the regular Disney reservation. I hope I get it. Thanks

There's no reason why Costco can't give you the actual Disney res number. Ask for a travel manager if the TA doesn't know how to find it. Disney won't give it to you, has to come from the TA.

ADR's are not considered a reservation change and don't involve touching the actual package or resort reservation, so even if a TA made your reservations you'd be able to make your own ADRs if you want to, as long as you have the actual Disney res number to access 180+10.

Many TA's, esp. those who specialize in all things Disney, DO go online for their clients at 6am to make ADR's. Not all TA's are well versed in Disney, and some won't go the extra step to do this, but it's not fair to those who do outstanding work for their clients to say you'll never use a TA again. Just use a different one!

WDW's website has a way to look up reservations made by TA's now. It's worth a try to see if the Costco reservation number works...

Help! We are arriving August 19th which should now be within the 190 day window. When I get to the Disney "confirm your reservation" page (I got there by clicking "I want to use my dining plan to book reservations" on the dining reservation page), I can put in the res# and last name, but the calendar won't let me pick a date past August 15th.

Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

I think I was misunderstanding "180 + 10". What it really means is that once it hits 180 days, I can book ADRs for the first 10 days of my trip, NOT that I can really book 190 days in advance.

So I have to wait until Monday which is the official 180-day mark, right?

Yes, that's correct. Otherwise you would only be able to book 1 day. And then Tuesday book for the next day, and Wednesday for the next day... that would be a huge pain in the butt! :rotfl:

I also arrive on August 19 and the calculator told me February 20. That's when I planned to book them.

BrennerM - if you are checking in on August 19th, then Teacher510 is correct about February 20th being your 180-day mark. You should be able to start making your reservations on *Sunday*, not Monday. Here's an ADR calculator link:

Sunday is indeed the correct 180-day mark for August 19th. Sorry for the confusion!
