17 Days of Disney Magic (aka Brits, Pirates & Princesses) - Lots of PICS!

Aww, thank you guys that's really sweet of you  . Dunno if this is good or bad news then but I've kinda got the triprep bug, so I'm thinking of writing up my DLP and Disneyland trips and maybe the 2006 one of these (while I can remember some).

I think that's a great idea!! Just because it's from 2006 doesn't mean we won't enjoy reliving the memories with you!! You are a great writer and you can tell that you work in film because of the sequence you tell your story. You are very audience oriented! :goodvibes

We watched the pirates show, which was really good fun. I don’t have any photos because I was filming it but when I edit it I’ll try to take some screen grabs. I know that the daughter of a fellow dis’er was in the show. By the time it finished it was pretty much time to leave as the park was beginning to close. As this was our last time in MK we went by the castle for another photopass photo.

Then we grabbed some more treasure on the way to main street. X marks the treasure spot!

We did go into a few more shops on the way out but I don’t think we bought anything. Here are a few last photos of the evening

This lady’s dress was lovely

At the end of the street were these cast members – I thought this was so sweet (sorry it’s a bit dark)

You can see them still behind Karen here

And my final MK photo :sad1:

I am so sad for you leaving the MK in these pictures. I wish they were doing the pirate and princess party this year. I would have loved to have gone and seen Jack Sparrow. Oh Well, I got to live it through you. This has been a great TR. I am so sad that it is over.:sad1:

Thanks again. One more day (or half day to go) kinda sad myself...suffering from major disney withdrawal here! I dunno why they are not doing the P&PP this year - it seemed really popular. :confused3

Our last day, Saturday, started off just as beautiful as the weather had been the rest of the week. We were booked on the Magic Express for later in the day but as our flight wasn’t until the evening, we had enough time to do some things. First of all though we had to pack as we’d been a bit too tired to do it the night before. We weren’t too bad because we’d been fairly packed when we’d moved hotels. However, even with a spare case each we did struggle to get things in – or rather we struggled to get things in and keep it under the weight limits per case. Too much shopping! I ended up with a couple of Karen’s things in mine as she shopped even worse than me.

Packed we took a couple of photos of our room then went to have breakfast on site. This was our room.

Yay for towel animals

CBR is a lovely looking resort (if huge) and we couldn’t help but take some photos of the surroundings on route to the dinning hall.

We thought the dinning hall was the best of all the hotels we’ve stayed in because although it was very busy, the food choice was HUGE!!
Img_4609a.jpg

After breakfast (I had pancakes YUM!!) we went back to the room and had our bags picked up. I’m very glad we did because we got so lost as we walked to the reception area. We weren’t the only ones either. A family were following us for a bit but when we cut through near some rooms they obviously lost faith in our leadership ability and went off down another path. I dunno what happened to them cause they didn’t make it to the reception area in the whole time we were there – maybe they are still lost in CBR somewhere!

Loved this
Img_4620a.jpg

Leaving the bags at the hotel we decided to go back to HS for our last day. There were two things there that we both wanted to do and much as we wanted to go to the other parks too, we knew we’d only have time for one. So off we went to HS (which I still wanna call MGM)

The thing Karen wanted to do again most was the B&tB stage show – told you she loved it. So that’s where we went first. There was a different Gaston this time and he was great, so I’m glad we saw it again.:dance3:

Seobaina,
I am sad too, I hate knowing it is so close to the end. You should post your other trip it will be fun to relive it! I love your costumes. Karen's jacket, if it is part of the costume an not from her regular wardrobe I would ad that to my reular clothing rotation as well as your top and corset. They look great, what a talent your frined is who made them. Isn't Animal Kindom Lodge the best. It is so beautiful the lobby when you walk in. We stayed there 3 years ago and it was a surprise B-day gift for moi. I was so in shock to be there I don't think I fully appreciated it. KTTK, looks very interesting. I was not sure if it was something I wanted to see, I was worried it might take away form the dream like feel I have there. I will rethink it now. Can't wait to see your next hotel, I have never visited that one. Thanks so much for posting, this is getting me so excited for my trip in 3 weeks.

Then it was off to do the thing I most wanted too – One Man’s Dream. If you’ve not done it, it is basically an exhibit with short film, dedicated to the life of Walt himself. I find it very interesting and although it is definitely aimed at an adult audience, it’s very touching for any Walt fans. I’d heard that it wasn’t necessarily a permanent fixture in the park so I wanted to see it while I could. Here are some pics of the exhibit.

We wanted to go to Downtown Disney to see if we could find a couple of last minute things – in particular a ceramic Mickey holding the 2008 sign – I had one from 2006 and they’d been sold out everywhere for the past two weeks. After taking advice from one of CM we were told that we should get the bus to POP and then from POP to DTD as that was the quickest route. So we said goodbye to our last park and went to board a Disney bus.

It was really nice changing buses at POP cause it felt like coming home. We both love and miss this resort and although we only stayed at the bus stop it was great to be there. After a ten min wait we headed to DTD.
Img_4736a.jpg

Back at DTD we went into the Collectibles store – I’m addicted to it and then headed round towards World of Disney.
Img_4738a.jpg

Img_4740a.jpg

On route we stopped in at Goofy’s Candy store and all I can say is YUMMMMM!!!!
Img_4742a.jpg

Img_4743a.jpg

I can’t even remember what I ended up buying because it all looked SO good!

We made it into World of Disney and they had just three of those 2008 Mickey’s left, so we grabbed two of them and happily added them to our hand luggage. Then it was with a sad goodbye that we left DTD and caught the bus back to CBR.:sad2:

After about an hour our Magic Express turned up and we boarded it for the airport trip.:sad1: We were kinda annoyed when we got there because yet again we had a two hour delay – that’s two hours we could have stayed in the parks. So we made ourselves feel better by shopping. I spent my last dollars on a Mickey ice cube tray and resisted, yet again, buying a talking dolphin plush from the Sea World store.

Then we sadly boarded our plane and began our long flight back to Manchester.:sad1: Neither of us wanted to leave and we were kinda solemn the whole way home. It didn’t help that we had HORRENDOUS turbulence about an hour into the flight and I thought I might die with fright – people were screaming and all sorts:scared1:. Not good! See what happens when you leave Disney? At least I had two welcoming cats to greet me when I got home. I’m hoping we get to start a pre-trip soon cause I NEED to go back!

It’s funny but there are a few things we did that I have no clue when we did them…hence the reason they are not in the report. :confused3 For example, one night we ate at Denny’s when we failed to find International Drive for an hour (how is that possible?). I know another night we spent nearly 3 hours in boarders as Karen (self confessed book freak) shopped and met a kindred American spirit to chat too. :rolleyes1

I know we lost the car in the Animal Kingdom Parking Lot. We knew the isle number and area but it still took 15 mins of walking up and down in the heat with me pressing the alarm button on and off for us to find it:rotfl:. And we laughed our heads off at one point because we were trying to find a particular mall. We knew where it was and got right up to it then ended up (somehow) missing the turning and found ourselves catapulted onto the turnpike, which took us miles out of the way and at which point we gave up. I think that was the same day that we ended up lost and going past the Orlando Convention Centre about four times in twenty mins.:lmao:

I also know one day we swam at the POFQ pool and sat in the Jacuzzi. We met a man there who was on holiday with his wife and DD (6) but they were having an afternoon nap. None of us realised where the Jacuzzi heat control was so we literally cooked for 15 mins before we gave up and headed to the pool to cool off:laughing:. But do I have any clue when it was? :confused3 No I don’t. It’s amazing how you can forget. I have decided that next time I will write much better notes and not just rely on photos and memory.

Anyway, I’ll finish the report with a few photopass photos I don’t think I posted.

Yeah he's really good. He's the guy who came to Paris with us - which you'll see when I write that one. He also came with us in 2006 (Graham, BIG disney fan). He'd love to do costumes for a living but can't get enough work to give up the boring stuff. KTTK is really good and I highly recommend it. I'm so jealous you are going in 3 weeks and I expect a write up when you get back  Thanks for coming along on this one.

Congratulations on completing the report.:cool1:

And now. . . . :sad1: Your report was one of the best I've read, and it seemed like it would never end because you were there for so long!
If you do get the chance to come back, let me know. I'd love to meet you and Karen. :flower3:
Thanks again and I look forward to your link!:)

Thanks hun, that's really sweet of you. We're definitely coming back, just not sure when yet! Working on it. I'm gonna write up the 2006 one - that was about 14 days, just gonna do DL first. If you're coming to the UK ever let me know too! :)

Nooooooooo! It can't be over so quickly. You have got to write another trip report. And a dining report too! I've said it so many times....trip reports are what get me through until our next WDW vacation.

:) what a great experience you had. :sad1:Sad to see it end. Thanks for sharing.

Great report. Sorry it had to end:guilty:

I really enjoyed reading it! You gave me a few new ideas of places to eat for our next trip.:goodvibes

Tim

We saw Lion King for the first time this year. I was excellent. I was nothing like I expected, and I was so happy. I recommend it to anyone now. We were Lions too. :thumbsup2

Love the pirate costumes. Super awesome. I was mad they did away the with the P&PP this year, I was planning on giving it a try this year. I heard they did away with it for now because of the economy.

Seobaina and Karen,
Thanks so much for sharing your trip with us. It was a great read. I look forward to reading the one you are starting now. And, I hope you get to come back to Disney very soon , I am sprinkling some Pixie dust to you from across the pond. Keep your eye out for it, you never know when a little magic is right around the corner.

great trippie! i'm glad i came in at the end, so i wouldn't have to wait for installments!

i love your pics; you can definitely tell that you know how to frame things. Some shots are really gorgeous! Just an fyi though, i read somewhere (likely the DIS) that the flash on your camera isn't useful after 10 feet in front of you...so at the shows, it really doesn't matter if you use your flash or not. (Well, it DOES matter, if it's disturbing other people, but picture-wise, notsomuch. ;) )
