Way to go Tara!! So glad you saw a lost that rocks babe!!! One pound at a time!! I'm with you on the water thing, I need to be drinking a lot more than I am right now! So one AquaFina bottle down, 3 more to go today!! Okay guys I'm getting off right now to work out before my afternoon class!! Going to get my body moving!!

So good luck to you all and say goodbye to the pounds!!

Jen

I met 2 of my 3 goals for today. I didn't drink nearly enough water, only 32 oz. :guilty::guilty: I drank alot of fluid, but it came disguised as diet soda. I met the exercise goal by doing 48 min on exercise bike again. Going home tomorrow and will see both daughters until Tues, and Erin until Easter Sunday. There spring breaks did not coincide.

ONward and DOWNward:banana::banana::banana:

Tara - Way to go on the pound!   One less pound to deal with. I hope you are feeling better and I think you were smart to listen to your body and take a rest.

After my bad start to my week I am happy to say that I maintained my weight. I'm still at 168. I'm flushing out the bad stuff with a whole lot of water.

Keep up the good work everyone! Keep Sweatin! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Ya know how sometimes you wake up and just feel like you can do more that day? And some days you just wonder why you feel sooo gosh blasted tired??? Well, I had two of those gosh days in a row and today I woke up feeling pretty good...but I noticed some other things that could help us on those gosh days...

1. Wear tighter clothing..I noticed on the days I woke up feeling bleh that my clothing reflected it...I wore XL size sweat pants and XL size t-shirt and a sweatshirt on top...talk about FRUMPY! And my eating was worse on that day...well today, I put on a form fitting blouse, some stretchy size 14 pants that show every curve (some may say bulge...but I'm saying curve being 55 pounds down! :)) and I really feel 10 pounds lighter than yesterday! How does that help me? Well, I really WANT to eat right to help keep this body feeling healthy...when I'm all frumpy I just want to feel good because I don't feel attractive on the outside...but when we take a little extra care about ourselves we may just change those cravings for those cheats....try it!

2. Visualize in your mind a date...make it realistic but look back in time and realize how quickly January/February and now almost March has blown by...my July 4th date is looking closer than ever now and I really can visualize myself being 150's in July...it CAN happen!!! It won't happen if I don't put forth a big effort but time will pass regardless of my efforts...so let's focus on what we CAN do and WILL do...

3. Come to WISH!!! Take the time to check out a few journals....read about their struggles and successes, if you feel a bad dinner coming up ask for help...sure you an have that appetizer and dessert..but limit yourself to 2 bites of each..and eat half the portion on your plate...it won't hurt you and you'll have had everything...and don't forget to drink that water! :)

I know there are some days of mine where I just have a hard time doing the right steps..and others come by easily...I hope some of these suggestions make some of those days easier for you!!!! Anyone else got some motivational tips that help you stay the course???

Lesli!!! What a great cheerleader you are!!! That cheering will make you feel positive and confident in losing!! :jumping1:

Jen! In honor of your great water mission...I am going to go fill an empty milk jug with water and not go to bed until I've finished that baby..how many ounces are in a gallon???

Kathy!! You and I were twinkies yesterday!! I only had 2 glasses of water but 3 glasses of diet coke...ugh!!! My mother took all the grandkids bowling and they didn't have bottled water..I had to drink diet coke to keep from eating all the bowling snacks, corn dogs, chicken tenders, cheese sticks, fries...ugh! I did have one chicken finger and 2 cheese sticks...but had a light dinner so hopefully I'm okay...but today...that milk jug is calling my name! :) With water in it! :) Let's get our water in today!!! :)

Tracy...those last pounds are toughies aren't they!!! But you're workouts are kickin it and those pounds will NOT be able to hold on!!! We're with you!!! You can do this a pound at a time!!! :) :cool1:

ONWARDS TEAM!!!!
Tara

That is a lot of water Tara. A gallon is 128 ounces of water. That's two days worth. You might want to rethink that one or you'll never get anything else done. But we gotta do what we gotta do.

Good luck to everyone today and remember WE CAN DO IT! :cheer2: :cheer2: ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Whew!! I'm glad you added that up for me!! I was beginning to get a little discouraged every time I poured a glass and it still seemed full!!! :) I'll do a gallon every two days and that will definitely be an increase over where I was the last weeks! :)

FLushing the fat away!!! :)
Tara

Tara - I agree with you on #1 regarding clothes. Before I bought my smaller clothes and my pants were too baggy, I felt FAT. Even though I had lost a bunch of weight, I still felt like I had lost nothing. I do feel better when I on something nice.

Journals is another great suggestion. I love reading about people's accomplishments, suggestions, ups and downs.

Keep drinking that water girlfriend!!!! I typically drink 20-30 ounces JUST at the gym and drink another 90 ounces throughout the evening. It helps to get one of those water bottles in the camping, hiking or workout isle at Target or Walmart. Mine is 32 ounces with a stray that's great for the gym and at home. It helps drinking the water and easy to keep track of.

Weigh-in was today, and I lost 1 pound. This week has been hard and I am glad to see that I did manange to lose alittle bit.

I am struggling with eating right and finding time to exercise. Since my husband and I work opposite shifts, the only time I have to do anything is after the kids go to bed. This also means that the only time I see DH is Sat. Sun. and and for a little while Mon. mornings. I am quickly gaining a whole new respect for single parents, at least I know come the weekend I have my husband to support and help me.

Work is always busy this time of the year, as the landords reconcile their actual expenses for the prior year to the escrows we paid. We are also short one accountant as last Friday was her last day, so her work has been divided up between myself and one other accounant, increasing our work load by more than 50%. My boss is great about helping out when she can, but she has been swamped with special projects and unable to help much.

I did go to the store yesterday and buy some bagged salad, fresh vegetables and more chicken breasts. I also bought some frozen lean cuisine type meals for when I don't have time to cook something healthy. I also have lots of fruit in the house, as my kids love it. Fruit is just about the only thing they ask for at the store, and when summer comes we easily spend $20-30 dollars at the farmer stands in our area.

Sorry this is so long, but I needed to vent, hopefully next week will be smoother and I will have an easier time staying on program.

Hang in there RF536, you look like you are doing GREAT! You almost have your first set of 10 out the door.

Just a quick note to let everyone know that I NEED YOU! I should have posted something more yesterday, I might have saved myslef. Things started out good, but DH was away which threw off part of my routine (not that I can't adjust), and I had a new cousin find me yesterday in my genealogy research (great news), but I ended up sitting too long at the computer sharing info. These normally wouldn't be problems, but I allowed myself to slip backwards and nibbled a few things. I didn't stick with my meal plan and ate 3 cracker, 4 GS cookies and 4 slices of Pizza (two were taco). :sad2:

I feel so guilty today, becuase I let myself down. It doesn't appear that it affected my weight any, but that could be partially due to the fact that I made sure I drank more than the daily required. I know it is behind me, but I can't believe I let myself down.

Well, thanks for listening and today will be a better day. Everyone start the losing for the weekend! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hi Lesli54, thanks for the encouragement, I am feeling more positive today and feel more in control of my eating.

Don't let yesterday get the better of you, today is a new day and you can do it. I have fond that since I starting exercising that one bad day does not do the damage that it used to.

Regina

Goooood Moooorning TEAM!!! How's everyone doing today??? How's the weather in your parts? How's your fridge stocked??? Are we going to make it a GOOOD weekend??? Let's DO IT!!! :)

Teresa! Great tip on the water bottle....over the years I've collected some but never kept up with them...I need to find one that costs about $20 then I'll make myself not lose it! :) That'll be on my errand list today! :)

REGINA!!!! Now why did they go and move our dancing banana option to the "more" page...well, instead of a banana for a pound loss I'm going to substitute a sweet little flower :flower3: We're saying GOODBYE to that pound!!! It's a lot to lose a pound when you're upping your exercise!! Now's the time to get that measuring tape and keep your tallies going about every 2 weeks...it'll be neat to see inches gone even when the scale may not budge! And sweetie!! I can feel your pain with the screwed up husband/wife schedule...for a year now I've been the only parent home for 5 days of the week..while dh works three hours away in another state...it's soooo tough but at the same time if you read books like "The Long Winter" by Laura Ingalls Wilder...you kind of start to feel blessed! ::yes:: I think it's important while trying to lose weight to see the blessings ahead of the down sides...I know when I get in a valley and only see the down sides my eating goes way out of sync. Now I see some GREAT blessings in you!!! Look at how you stocked that fridge!!! And spring will come soon and bring great fresh foods to eat!!! And you'll WANT to get outside more!!! :jumping1: Dontcha feel better already??? And most of all YOU LOST A POUND!!!!!! Keep up the great work and when your hubbie's not home to give you that pat on the back... WE ARE!!! Here's a hug!!!

Lesli!!!! WE ARE HERE FOR YOU!!! You don't need to worry about that one day...it's hard to lose...it's hard to be consistent and disciplined with our eating every single hour of the day....and we ALL have slip ups...(yes, I had a full serving of cheetos yesterday and two more homemade chocolate chip cookies)...but if we keep steady with our exercise and are as good as you at flushing that water the scale will forgive us these little slip-ups! Remember how we gained all this weight? Sure some days we ate reasonably well, but more than not our days of overeating outweighed our days of reasonablies...now we're switched...our days of eating reasonably far outweigh the days like you had yesterday and the scale will go down just as easily as it went up. So be PROUD of yourself for all those reasonably healthy choice days!!!! We don't often praise ourselves enough for them! :)

Even with the cheetos and ch. chip cookeis yesterday I recovered and had tuna salad and slimfast....I did drink more water...and I did do my cardio pilates...then this morning I walked my 5 miles!!! I'm feeling really zapped so I need to go fix a salad...we just gotta make more exercise work for us and if we cheat just let it be a moderate one...in the past I could have EASILY eaten 3-4 servings of cheetos and 5-6 cookies in one day...so I'm seeing great improvement! :)

ONWARDS TEAM!!!
Tara

Tara, WTG! Hope you see another pound, & another, & another come off!!! I agree that a gallon is ALOT of water to be drinking, glad to see you slowing it down to 1/2 each day. While I do agree that drinking more water is a good thing, you can also over do it with the water. When I hear about people drinking well over 100 oz a day that is tough to hear. You can dilute the sodium in your system too much and that can lead to lightheadedness, fainting, etc..... Just my .02 about h20!

Regina---great job kissing that pound goodbye! :love1: I hope things get easier for you as time goes on! :) Great picks at the supermarket....

Lesli-well that is so cool about finding a cousin! So neat to hear it almost makes me want to start looking up & down my family tree. :) One day of bad choices is just that one day . You'll have so many good days that it will outweigh your bad one! :goodvibes

As for me I was shocked this morning when I stepped on the scale and saw a number I haven't seen in a long time (over 8 years)--194!!! I'm about 1/2 pound way from my 30 lb clippe!!! I started my weight loss journey weighing 223.6 9 weeks ago today. I'm psyched that even though I've had my share of bad days along the way I am still hanging in there and losing.

Hope everyone has a terrific weekend and step away from the Cheetos!

Hi 150ers!

Hope everyone is doing well - from the posts I can see that we're all striving... striving... striving... toward the same goal. ;)

Got a bit of a surprise yesterday when a dietician I've been seeing added up my daily caloric intake - and told me that I wasn't getting enough calories! :rolleyes2

Hoo boy! This was a shocker... but I guess if I think about how difficults my (normally energizing) workouts have been - this makes sense.

'Gota say that this a first for me... anybody else experience this? :scratchin

Have a good weekend everyone!

Iris

Good morning Club 150!

Today at weigh-in, I gained 3 pounds. I'm not too upset about that though because TOM will be here on Tuesday and because I have been eating way, way, way off program. I wanted to start Phase 1 of South Beach again today, but we are going to DH's grandma's house and she makes the best homemade pierogis! So, I will try a Phase 1.5 tomorrow and hope the whoosh fairy makes a visit for next Sunday's weigh-in.

Keep up the good work everyone! You CAN do it! :cheer2:

Hello everyone!

First of all, congratulations to all who are losing that weight. A lb or 1/2lb, it is all the same and never to be looked at again! We're getting thinner, we're getting thinner!! :cheer2:

Ok......Big announcement.........I GOT MY FIRST 5lb CLIPPIE!!!!!

It feels so good and adding the clipart is so much fun. Who thought losing weight could be fun. Also, I signed up for a few challenges, just to keep that extra drive going. I did great on eating yesterday and drank more than the water I needed. Hoping to see another 2lbs gone by the end of this week. Getting closer to the 210's. By then, I will pack up the pants I am wearing now and ship them to my friend (she won't lose, doesn't want to :sad2: ). At least then I can't get "comfortable" again.

So.....let's get moving, drink some water, stay away from the taboo foods, and have a GRRRRRRRRREAT day! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

welovedis!!!!! :jumping1: You are AMAZING!!! You have got to share your top five changes you've made since you started 9 weeks ago!!! What an inspiration you are!!!! Congratulations on seeing 194!!! You'll be hitting those 180's in record time!!!! Here's a HUGE HUG!!! Boy, I wish you lived next door to me....your enthusiasm is soooo contagious and I bet you'd make a great workout partner! :)

Iris...isn't that a nice change! :) We easily can get into eating not enough as well as eating too much...and it's harder to lose when you don't eat enough...so add in those good foods as snacks throughout the day and I bet you'll notice the scale moving! Sometimes, the stress gets to me and I just don't want to eat....but the scale stalls for me if I don't eat over 1500 calories a day...my problem is I just don't like to eat the good foods...I'd eat 15 cheetos over cauliflower anyday! :) But I'm changing that...one day at a time! :)

Toystoryduo...you have a CAN DO attitude!!! I'm sorry, but there's no way you could gain 3 pounds in one week...you know that's mostly water and you'll knock it out as soon as TOM leaves the building! I know lots of thin Italians and a pierogi won't hurt you as long as you eat a portion and not a couple!! So ENJOY that pierogi and flush it down with water!!! :) You'll do great next week!

I agree with the comment on too much water...that is a possibility..if I'm walking a 5 mile day I can drink twice as much water because my body just sucks it all up....but if it's an off exercise day there's no way my body could handle as much water...my problem is I truly have days where I drink 1 diet coke and one glass of water!!! So I have to remind myself to drink that water because I know my body needs more than I'm giving it...pace yourself and listen to your body...and let's get losing!!! :)

Tara

Iris-it's true, you really can be eating too few calories, especially if you are getting in some tough workouts. Tara is right, it can definitely stall your progress. Neat that the dietician is working with you, and I bet you'll see a difference in the next week or 2! :flower:

toystory-I'm certain that TOM is going to help flush away that water weight. Even eating off program I really don't think you gained 3 pounds in 1 week! :duck: Enjoy those homemade pierogis! Not sure if they are italian style (like gnocchi) or polish style (I'm polish & I love the sauerkraut ones!) but I agree that eating a few small ones or 1-2 large ones is really not that bad. Everything in moderation, right! :sunny:

Lesli-woohoo!!!! :jumping1:
Congrats on your clippie, it is amazing to see what a difference something like that makes! I love being able to come here and change my ticker or change my clippie. You are doing awesome and maybe your friend will decide to try when you start sendiing her your "too big" clothes. It would be great to motivate her that way! :)

Tara-thanks so much for your encouragement! You are one of the big reasons I'm still posting as it is hard to find the time each day or two. You are a terrific motivator, ever think of motivational speaking for a living??? :goodvibes
Here's my top 5 things I have changed in my life:
  1. Exercise 5-6 times per week.
  2. Stay at or around 1500 calories of food per day.
  3. Drink more water (I only drink about 48-64 oz because of kidney problems) and milk-no pop or juice.
  4. No eating in the evening--I strive for 7 pm but won't each after 8pm at all.
  5. Get as much sleep each night as possible-usually between 6 3/4 --7 1/2 hours per night. I'm up at 4:40 am in order to get to the gym to workout, so that part is hard!

I'm psyched that I wore a new outfit yesterday while out with my SIL and she was shocked at how different I looked. The last time I saw was at Xmas (we live about an hour apart) and at that time I wore a size 20/22. Yesterday I was wearing my new size 14 pants and a sweater set and she couldn't believe the difference. The big thing for me was that I was not "uncomfortable" in the nice new clothes as I used to be when I bought something tighter fitting. When I got home after a long day with her and a long drive I didn't rush upstairs to change into something more comfortable. Might sound weird but I'm sure some of you can relate!

DH has been taking pics of me along the way, first at the start, one month into it and I'm having him take another set today. Hopefully I can get them uploaded in the next few days and share them with you guys.

Thanks again for the motivation and the urge to keep going to the 150's!!!!

Lesli!!!! WAHOO!!!! Look at that GOOOOOGEOUS clippie!!!! Your post snuck in before I had posted mine...sometimes my kids interrupt me and by the time I actually send my post a couple have snuck in! :) Couldn't let that new clippie go by unCELEBRATED!!! :) You are doing FANTASTICALLY!!! BRILLIANT!!! And I just love your CAN DO attitude!!! Those clippies will fly by! :) :jumping1:

welovedis...okay, I know you don't like the podium....but I've got to put you back up there!! Now, specifics really really help me!! :) What do you do for exercise...how long and what are your faves? And can I just say that if you are getting up at 4:40 every morning you are AMAZING!!! ::yes:: Keep up the GREAT work...you've seen how all that hard work has paid off and it will continue to!!! :) Also, any NO-NO's in your diet the past 9 weeks? For me it's french fries and white bread...but chocolate chips are okay....on weeks when I feel I have that extra gumption I try to be very good and the scales are always kind to me on those weeks. Love your story!!! It really helps to hear all the details and know that it CAN BE DONE!!! :) Can't wait to see the pictures!!!!!

Tara

Tara-Lol, I don't like the podium, but here is more info. I go to a women-only gym that allows you to ask questions of a floor trainer (someone who is assigned to answer anyone's questions but usually doesn't know you specifically) anytime and also have a personal trainer assigned to you. I meet with her every 6 weeks to get weighed, measured, get BF count and test flexibility. We go over my eating ( a little) and talk about goals for the next 6 weeks.

Currently I workout for at least an hour 6 days a week. On M-W-F I do weight training with emphasis on strengthening & toning my leg muscles, ab work with crunches, roman chair, weighted balls and crunches on my ab roller at home. My arms are my focus as well with lots of concentration on upper arms with summer coming! :) I do more reps as the weight gets easier to lift. My weight stuff takes me 40-45 mins, then I do some cardio to finish up my hour. I get to them gym at 5:25 (when they open) and have to leave by 6:40 to get home in time for DH to leave for work-can't leave DS home alone. Plus my daycare opens at 7:30 and I am alone with a couple of kids till 8 when the assistants come in.

Cardio intense is T-TH-Sat and I do the cross-trainer (like an ellipical but can add resistance and incline), elliptical, something called a body trek (another elliptical with an up & down motion), stair climbers (both the stationary stairs and the kind with the moving stairs-think escalator!), the treadmill and the new thing called Jacob's Ladder which I can only do for 10 mins and I am whipped:
http://www.jacobsladderexercise.com/

I generally do 30 min segments on machines with a 10 minute cool down at the end. On the weekends if I don't feel like fighting for a machine at the gym I also have a gym quality treadmill at home and I do an hour plus cool down, usually walking fast 4-4.2 mph with 2.0 incline for a .25 mile, then walking a little slower 3.5-3.8 mph with a 9-12 incline to work my quads, etc...
I do crunches at home when I get a chance, usually do segments of 50 then take a rest, but I do use an Ab Roller to help my keep my neck in the right alignment. I've been striving to do 500/day-usually takes about 1/2 hour to do them all so I haven't been really good about it.

Food--hmm that is hard. I am not following any type of low-carb eating plan because of my food allergies and kidney problems. I tried Atkins and it caused me to have some kidney problems, ended up on dialysis and lost some kidney function permanently. It is a good plan but for some people it affects them in radical ways. Anyway--my nutritionist actually had me start out on meal replacement shakes-mostly because of time. I didn't want to spend a ton of time thinking about food, planning lots of meals and spending time in the grocery store hunting down items. She made it easy to get me kick-started by doing B & L shakes and a decent dinner. I've been eating lots of chicken, fish (all kinds) and some beef--but we are not big beef eaters so that doesn't really bother us.

I've switched over to having a shake for breakfast only when I am really swamped and need to have something versus nothing. I've started eating lower calorie whole wheat english muffins and breads, baking fresh bread and buying wheat pasts--it really isn't that hard to make the change, but luckily I've got a great husband and son who are willing to make the changes along with me. Neither needs to lose weight (they are skinny!) but they know we are eating more wholesome and healthy foods now. I eat tons of veggies but do allow myself to enjoy dinners out and snacks. We've found some great ice cream sandwiches from Schwan's (the home delivered food company) that are 100 calories & 2g fat--or the skinny cow brand fudge bars are good too. I've found ways to keep a little ice cream in the house and have it when I really want it. Eating less and less processed food is so much better for you anyway.

I also have noticed that I need to just give in sometimes and enjoy something I am really craving. It physically usually tastes good, it mentally makes me feel like I am not deprived & keep me from going overboard if I don't give in now. I usually can only eat 1/2 portion of something I enjoyed before I start to feel full and I can walk away from 1/2 a plate of lasagna or mashed potatoes & gravy. Bread is a toughie for me, but I usually write down everything first in my journal, instead of afterward. Makes it harder to take another piece or portion.

ANYWAY-sorry for the book, but the old-fashioned tried & true "eat less, move more" is what is really working for me. I know that eventually I will get to a plateau but no matter what I am healthier and feel better than I have since my DS was born (1996). I can't/won't go back to the old me--and I start to slip I listen to a Christian song entitled " I Will Never be the Same Again" here's the first verse:

I will never be the same again.
I can never return,
I've closed the door;
I will walk the path,
I'll run the race,
And I will never be the same again.

http://www.myredeemerlives.com/neverthesame.html

I hope you all will never be the same again either! :)
