Good Morning Ladies and Gents!

Had a wonderful vacation! Even tho it wasn't Disney! I did consume WAY too much good food. I have already started to excercise it off. (Walking to the bank and post office today as a start!) I do work 10 hours today, and it is Friday as well as the first of the month. We will be busy!

Everyone take care and keep loosing! Have a great weekend!

Wendy

Good Morning, and Happy September!

It's day one of my new resolve! :cool1:

So, here's my eating plan:

B: banana and shredded mini-wheats w/milk
L: tomato/mozzarella salad, grapes
S: popcorn
D: baked shrimp or baked haddock, rice pilaf, roll
S: 100 cal mini fudge stripe cookies

All done by 8 p.m., and no eating throughout the Stargate marathon that will have my attention tonight!

I'm getting on the TM and walking to a movie. I'm just getting used to being on it again, so I'm going to aim for six miles or so.

Tomorrow I'm going to do another TM workout, and I'm going to plan menus for next week. We're definitely having a crockpot meal on Sunday!

CoasterAddict -- Welcome to the neighborhood! We've been in Boston for 10 years now. We started out in Allston/Brighton, but after ds we needed a back yard! We've been in Orient Heights since 1998. Let me know if you have any questions I can answer -- or try to answer! :goodvibes

Dona -- So, I'm going to try to add one new thing/idea each day to get me to my goal. Today is getting back on the TM. Tomorrow I am writing down every single item I eat. That will be sobering. :rotfl: Tell us all about your trip! I'm wrestling with what to do for our next year's vacation. Cruising to Bermuda again would be a great bargain, but ds really wants to go back to WDW. DH loved Bermuda, and is so not fond of WDW...I'm thinking we go to Bermuda, and I take ds to WDW for a long weekend next Fall, maybe...yeah. I'll be wrestling with this one for awhile.

Let's let our positive attitudes carry us through Labor Day, and we are going to do great with our eating. Don't let all the rain :umbrella: (yes, all you East Coast folk like me) get you down! This is a great time to read a fantastic book you've been wanting to get to, start a new craft project (holiday gifts?!), or just savor a really great cup of tea.

It's a fresh, clean slate full of opportunity. Let's get started! :artist:

Hi everyone. I was back at school on Friday and was very busy. Yesterday our internet went out so I coulod write. I finally got it fixed this afternoon and so I wanted to check in.

Our trip was wonderful except for the flights there and back. We left on a Friday night. We were supposed to leave at 9 but we didn't leave until 11. By the time we got our luggage and car and got to the hotel it was 3 AM. We went right to sleep but at 7 someone was knocking at our door (don't know who) but once I am up I am up so I went for a swim and when I got back my sister was up. We went to AK in the morning and got soaked on KRR. We went a second time since we were so wet. She had on very heavy shorts but I had on my new hiking shorts that I had bought just for this trip and they dried very quickly.

The rest of the stay was at my sisters DVC at the Boardwalk. Quite a jump up for me since the last three times we stayed at DW we tent camped in FW. She booked a 1 bedroom villa. It was nice because then we each had our own space at times. The bathrooms are large. One had a whirlpool tub and a sink and the other had a sink toilet and shower. We also had a kitchen with a ful frig, stove, micro and dishwasher. COmplete with dishes and pots and pans. It was very nice but I know that it will be a long time before I get to stay there again.

We had a lovely time and spent a great deal of time in Epcot. Sunday morning at the MKwas lovely. From 8:20 to 10 AM we rode PP. SNow WHite, Pooh, teacups, SM, Buzz CoP and TTA. We aslo saw a lot of characters playing with the kids since it was EMH for little kids and only Fantasyland was open.

WE got to ride a segway, only a short distance turn and back but we did get to ride one and then tell our kids that we did it. She took pictures but they came out dark.

We had tea at the GF which was really nice and being the only girl in a house of men I reallly had a great time.

Coming home was a big problem. Ernesto was coming in on Wed and we were leaving at 7 on Tuesday. We got on the plane finally at 9:40 and sat on the runway until 10:30 when we got to Newark we had to circle for an extra 15 minutes. Again it was 1:30 when we got to the airport and then 3 by the time I got home and since I drove I was wide awake. I finally got to sleep but was up by 8:30.

It was a great trip (My mother was taking bets to see who would come home alive I think we fooled her). We might do it again and ask our other sisters. One will definitely say no, the other two might come but then do we ask our sister in law who has been so busy this year that she has not been seen since Christmas (Besides I loaned her all my disney books for her trip last Dec when their daughter made the cheerleading finals and she never returned them.)

Cam I hope you have fun with your daughter. Tomorrow I drop my son off at his apartment so that he can start college on Tuesday. Then we have the joy of driving up the Parkway from the Jersey shore on Labor Day (How did I get so lucky) get I also have to ready for my first day of school with students on Tuesday. I have to figure something out for my geometry classes since they are probably not getting their lockers on Tuesday and they hate to carry their books. My calc 1's I can give them their books because I have enough so that they can leave them at home. I dont know about my calc 2's but they have work that they have to give me so that will keep them busy.

I hope eveyone has a great Labor Day. The only good thing about dropping off my son is that I miss my friend's party and there is always too much food to resist. I did it at 4th of July but it would be harder tomorrow since I am always nervous about going back to school (And this is my 30th year)
Stay dry everyone.

Hey all :) Sorry I haven't been around lately. Life has gotten so busy since school started. School is NOT a place developed to lose anything but your mind. :p

So-I'm taking a class this year called Nutrition and Wellness. It's more than just a cooking class...you learn about time management, and how to be well and how to cook healthfully. I'm really excited. It got me on a little bit of a time management kick-I'm going to start scheduling time for exercise because I realized if it's not on my calendar I won't get it done. I'm also going to make the best of things-just because I don't have much choice at lunch doesn't mean I have to get the Super Mega Burger with the Ultra Fries. It means I get the piece of pizza, and a water. Because I'm at work and I'm hungry doesn't mean I have to have the Large cup with sprinkles. Stick with a small and drink the water.

We also need to have a better shopping list at my house. We always end up bringing home foods we don't need, like chips, donuts, pop etc. Ay yi yi!

I will try to keep you all updated more :)

Oh Dona! So glad you had a great time. I have done the tea at GF twice, once with my best friend, and we were all dressed up with tiara and all. Second time with DD. We had a great time! Enjoy the wonderful memories!

Oh yeah! I know that. If my DH and I go together, the purchases are much more healthier. And often, if we go alone, even more so. Heaven forbid if the DS went to the store to get something. Last time it was 2 bags of peanut butter cups! How heathly is that? And, I didn't know they had done that til after he and his friends had eaten BOTH bags! Oy Vey!

Off and runing!

Hi Ladies!

I'll be checking in again tomorrow morning with the results of my new resolve. I started Sept. 1, so it will be one week tomorrow! I'm hoping for a one lb. loss. I am not aiming high, I'm just really taking this slow.

I walked 5 miles Tues. and Wed., so I need another five to get to this weeks goal of 15. I'm trying to gradually get back to where I was before vacation, and five miles at a time seems reasonable.

I'll be glad next week when my life is finally back to normal. DS will be in school, so no more afternoons off or days with him in the office. I can get back to walking more, working out more, and eating portions! I'm also considering either going back to WW meetings, or doing it at home. I lost 25 lbs. that way, and that has been my most successful system to date. Still mulling it over. Doing it on my own does not seem to behappening.

Have a great evening, and let's get ready for a losing weekend!
Maria

I agree Maria, vacations do take you out of your routine. Even trying to follow it seems hard to do and then I end up nagging myself and feeling worse.

WIth school in session, DH back to a regular working schedule (he's a college professor) I can get back to a regular routine. With hypothyroidism, routine is important.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Wendy

Hi Ladies!

A super quick check-in before we head out to see the travelling Cirque du Soleil show. This year we have "Corteo". Anyway, I was indeed down exactly one lb. this morning. I'm calling my first week a success!

And, to my delight, the WW meetings are moving from the horrible hotel to a nearby shopping center later this month. I'm goin' back! :goodvibes

Eating has been pretty good today:

B: 1 scrambled egg w/salsa
L: tuna salad sandwich & 100 cal Pringles
S: Tootsie Roll Pop
D: Wendy's Mandarin Chicken salad, w/half the almonds and a swipe of dressing

I'm going to try to keep it to a dull roar tonight. I'm having a giant Diet Coke, and I want to make any and all snacks last a looooong time. I wish it wasn't such a long show! I'm always ready to leave at Intermission. Not that it isn't good, I'm just sleepy!

Everyone have a great evening, and let's work on getting some extra activity in tomorrow!

Maria

Umm, hello?

I feel so all alone! Somebody check in, just so we can share!

Doing great this weekend, just hoping to keep the momentum going this week. TOM is coming, so I ate too much this afternoon. Gotta undo that damage with a great workout tomorrow!

Anyone find any great new low-cal foods? Those cute little Fiesta chip bowls now come in Baked, so I can't wait to try them!

Any new or exciting accomplishments, goals, ideas?

I'll share if you will! :)

Hello Maria!

Nothing new here. I am starting curves thursday--which happens to be my birthday! ( :goodvibes One can never have too many birthday salutations! Even those quietly encouraged!)

I am at a standstill. Got to get going on increasing my metabolism right now. It's just too comfortable where it is at. Had a few bad days last week with my fibromyalgia (I can never spell that) so didn't remain active as much as I wanted to. I am behind about 80 minutes on my exercise challenge.

Talking about new foods, our local super market has a new section, actually several. They are Healthy Choice sections near the regular sections. Such as at the end of the soup section is a healthy soup section, with organic soup, gluten free soup, etc. They are a bit pricey, but with diet restrictions and the struggle with weight loss, I have been trying them. One of my new favorites is a rice cracker in white cheddar flavor. The brand name is BACK TO NATURE. They have several types, but I buy these ones because they are gluten-free. I am forever reading labels. My DD's best friend has yellow and red dye allergies, so with the gluten allergy I have and her friends allergy, I seem to read more at the grocery store than anywhere else! :rotfl2:

It is getting late! Life is good, diet is fine--could be better--and work is going!

There, anyone else? (Boy it feels good to just chatter on!)

Wendy

Good morning everyone. I haven't been posting much and I want to get back into it. Starting school is always a busy time and with all my other activities it can get crazy this month.

I also wanted to thank all you guys for all the support you have given me and everyone else on this board. Let me explain. My sister in law had gastric bypass last year. Ever since she has been losing weight but has had some other health problems so she has been hospitalized a couple of times. (I wrote about this in my journal last year) She has been in the hospital since June 06 when she had a hysterctomy and there has been problems with all the medication she takes for all her problems. She will be released in a couple of weeks. My other sister in law emailed us with this news and then went on to say that she now weighs 187. I was furious. She now weighs less than me and I have been working so hard to get and keep weight off. I flipped on Sunday and was down in the dumps yesterday but towards the end of the day when it was quiet in the house all I could hear was you guys telling me how much healthier I am for doing what I am doing and how much of a better life I am living. I knew these were the responses that I would have gotten from many of you. Thanks again for all the positive vibes you always send.

This morning I got up and did a 1 mile walk away the pounds and 25 minutes of yoga. It is a new day and I have you guys to thank for the positive attitude.

Have a great day.

Hi Ladies!

I'm having a good week so far. I got back on the TM yesterday, and I should be there tonight and tomorrow, too. My goal this week is 20 miles. I'm also eating alot less, even with TOM -- or should I say alot less than I usually do with TOM?! :rotfl:

Dona -- I'm so glad this forum has been useful for you. I sometimes get discouraged because I have been trying to get into the 150s for a very long time, and it really shouldn't be taking this long. Whenever I want to just totally give up, I can always come here and get some support. I do understand your frustration. All I can say is that we are all different, and we lose differently (o.k., surgery is definitely differently), and all you can worry about is you. You are the number one person who is going to look out for you, so you need to focus on your progress, your goals, and how successful you have been even without surgery! I am so proud of you! :goodvibes You are doing great, and as long as you are better off today than you were a year ago, you can feel great about yourself! Losing weight is hard work. If it wasn't it wouldn't be a billion $ industry.

Wendy -- :bday: I hope you celebrate early and often! I also hope you enjoy Curves. It's nice to workout without thinking people are watching you! Can you tell I am not fond of conventional gyms? I'm so glad everything is going well for you!

We have a wonderful Autumn ahead of us. Let's try to get out and enjoy the first hint of cool weather, snack on crisp apples, and look forward to carved pumpkins and brilliant Fall Foliage! :tilt:

Maria

Hello everyone! The rain is finally stopped, altho it is to be back in a few days, the sun is shining and the dog and I had a wonderful walk!

:sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Maria! Thanks for the salutations! I had a great day, and still have today off to do a few more family time things! I am excited about Curves, and part of it is not having to stand out in the crowd. I have a treadmill here at home, but it doesn't help my areas that need some tightening because of the weight loss so far. I also need some help to get over that plateau that I seem to have hit this summer. Want to look great when DS graduates from high school this june! I am so excited that he graduates, and for his gift we are sending him to WDW with his best bud! I don't know if I can wait! :goodvibes

Dona! I am sending you LOTS of great vibes to help you remain out of the dumps! I sure know what you mean. I joke about wanting to weigh less than my husband, who is nearly 12 inches taller than I am. Only, I really mean it! He weighs nearly 30 pounds less than I do, and I hope to be there this time last year. Gave myself the goal yesterday! Hope to hit 185 this time next year. Have 27 pounds to do go! WE CAN DO IT! :cheer2:
My DH and I had talked about surgery, but I had heard about the health issues, and I have several health issues already, and didn't want to add to them, especially with one of them hypothyroidism. Losing weight by changing your life style is difficult, but much more rewarding! You are becoming a healthy individual, not just thinner! There is a difference. I used to think I would never reach 60 yrs old becuase I was so unhealthy--now I know I will hang out into my 70's to be a pest to my children's children! :rotfl:
Not to mention DH is dying to have Grandchildren so he can take them to WDW!

SO, some special pixie dust to all those who need a lift! I know everyone here has certainly given me plenty!

pixiedust:

Best to all!

This thread does not seem to be moving...o.k., unofficial roll-call -- who's still with us?

I am! Worfiedoodles (aka Maria) signing in!

I'm still with you Maria. Just haven't been posting since I am gaining weight not losing (thanks to a new medication). I am staying active enough to keep the gain plataued but really need to get rid of the extra weight.

Three weeks from today I will turn into a couch potato and not do any exercise for at least 6 weeks. I am having surgery on my shoulder again to fix a full thickness rotator cuff tear. I figure since it is the 5th shoulder (3rd on this one) that I should do as I am told or there is no since having it done.

I am still training for the Army Ten Miler in DC on Oct 8. The surgery is on the 12th as I wanted to do the race with my daughter who is a 2nd Lt in the Army. it also looks like a neat course starting and ending at the Pentagon. We also run the Mall.

Let's get this thread going again. We need ot keep each other in line and encourange them when they are having a bad day.

I'm still here but I have also gained a few pounds and then bought a new scale last night that doesn't help much, but at least now I can read it (I finally bought a digital).

NYCPA sorry to hear about your surgery. Maybe it is time to listen to the doctors.(But what do they know). The run sounds great. I am not walking this week since my foot is killing me. I have the beginnings of a bunion and if it keeps hurting this bad I am off to the podiatrist.

Hi Maria

Hi All,
Yes, I'm still here. Fall is just an especially busy time of year for me, and I started grad school this year (after a *really* long hiatus!!) so it's even more hectic than usual. In spite of that, I'm still getting my daily walk in and taking the pounds off slowly. I'm aiming for a pound a week, usually I hit that or better, so a year from now I should be where I ought to be. Seems really far away.

Seding strength and support to everyone...we're in it for the long haul. :sunny:

Good morning fellow losers.

I am just waiting around until it is time to go to the dr and get my pre-surgery blood work done. I figured it is better to have her do it so she has the results. It is also time for the standard lipitor bloodwork.

Let's have a healthy day. Keep moving and drink your water.
