Good Saturday morning, WISH Friends!!! :wave2:

I think I'm really going to enjoy this group, and the support everyone has for each other is going to be great!!

Worfiedoodles and Imhall2000: Thank you both for the warm welcome!!

I finally got my treadmill back from my daughter Monday night, so Tuesday - Friday I walked at a 3 mile/hour pace for 30 minutes. I turn the TV on to CMT and watch the music videos while I walk, and it really helps. I'd like to gradually work up to 45 minutes per day, 4 days per week and do the 3-mile WATP once or twice during the week as well. I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER when I get some exercise during the day.

I am just kicking myself for backsliding. A year ago at this time I was 167, only 9 pounds away from my goal. Then I blew it. No one to blame but me. I am glad to be getting back on track but it's frustrating to realize that I could have, and should have, reached my goal long ago. Oh well. I need to stop looking back and just keep looking forward.

Thanks everyone, for the support.
And good luck to everyone here trying to get fit and healthy.

Wowzers!!!!!!!!! Welcome new friends!!! I can't name all of you because there is still a bit of sleepy left in me, but Ali, Chatty, Donac, and All Other People I Forgot To Mention-Welcome!

Our first basketball game was last night!! JV lost. We cheered hard though!! Did you know they have a separate room for the cheerleaders that they put snacks and drinks in? It's ALL HEALTHY food like fruit, veggies, and cheese!! I love it.

Varsity won, and went into overtime, pulling out a lead at the end and sticking with it.

I have another game tonight! Heck yes!!

179 at weigh in this AM. Not bad at all! People noticed last night. I was so happy. People who don't know me as well were making snide comments about me being a cheerleader because 3 of the 5 JV girlies are like fit sticks. Yeah-that hurt. Dumbhead people...

I have to go shopping today.

We had to take in my cheerleading skirt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! O H M Y G O S H!!! It so totally rocked.

Eats: no idea from yesterday. I do remember some french vanilla bread, strawberries/grapes/carrots/celery/cheddar cheese/ranch dressing/water at the game though.

And I got to cheer for the varsity a smidge!!! YAH!

**Karen-I am sorry for your loss. Huggles to you in this sad time.

Morning Losers!!

3 inches of snow coming to Chicago tonight....on its way to you east of me ;)

Well after a visit to the doctor and a tetanus shot I no longer am subbing for the autistic boy. On Thursday he was having a tantrum because I wouldn't let him leave the room and he grabbed by cheek, dug his nails in and wouldn't let go. Had to yank his had away....grrrrrrrrrr:(.........end up breaking the skin in three places - the district had me go get it checked out. If you look at my face it is three minor scratches but with my tetanus shot being outdated the doctor went ahead and gave me one.........boy the arm aches more than the face did:)

I had to fill out an incident report which include him grabbing my breast and tweaking it (that happened the day before) and him shoving on a moving partition wall and toppling over an aide on the other side.....YIKES!!! :faint:

Needless to say I have no desire to complete this subbing assignment. I am not properly trained in dealing with this type of physical aggression.

Not good times.....ironically yesterday I was in HIGH functioning autism room and it was like night and day........so much nicer........

TOM will be here on Tuesday so not even going anywhere near the scale. Still trying to sell the pool table so I can turn that room into an exercise haven..........isn't that an oxymoron :rotfl2: :rotfl2: haven and exercise......

OUR NUMBERS ARE GROWING!!!! :thewave: :thewave: Hi to All!! Let's see if I can name them all....

Schatz - Debra and the rest of the team - Have a Moving and Losing Saturday!! Let's keep the water flowing!!

Happy Saturday!!

And as always have a Magical Disney Day!!
Linda

Tara - the biggest reason for getting used to the cold is I can't see myself doing my long walks on the TM. Today is 8 miles and we currently have about 6" of snow on the ground. I will probably go down to OLP, hoping they have the trail plowed, and do my walk.

Where I live in the path of the the lake effect snow off Lake Ontario, we could get up to 12" more of snow before this band moves on. Have to love CNY. Since they started the Snow Bowl between Buffalo, Rochester, Albany and Syracuse, Syracuse has never lost. The snowfall is measured at the airports. Most of Oswego county gets much more snow per season than Syracuse. According to the forcast, this band of snow is supposed to sit over Syracuse most of today and lift into the northern counties overnight. Currently the trees remind me of the ones on Xmas cards.

To others using the TM for exercise. I have found that the time goes much faster if I watch a dvd as opposed to the TV. The comercials seem to make the time last forever. Last winter, I watched season 1 of 24, this year I am watching season 1 of The Pretender. i also have season 2 and 3 of 24 to watch. Each 'hour' episode is good for 45 min of exercising. When I have 70 or more min scheduled, I just watch it until I reach my necessary time and then sit on the exercise bike to cool down and watch the rest of the second episode.

The change in exercising is the result of having a goal. If I didn't want to prove to myself I was capable of getting the 'Donald medal' so bad, I wouldn't be putting in the minutes. I needed a reason to do this. It also helps relieve stress.

To all the new WISHers WELCOME   You have come to the right place for support on your journey to a healthier you. Even on days you slip, we are here to support you and cheer you on. Remember each day is a new start, if you slip up one day, don't dwell on it, just move on.

Hi All,

Sorry I have been MIA this week but it has been crazy LOL!!! I stepped on the scale this morning and I am down another 3 pounds for a total of 23 since October 24th!!! I am so psyched!!! We bought the boys bikes for Christmas and dh and I have decided that if I get a Christmas Bonus we will buy a couple of inexpensive bikes for us and take the kids for a bike ride every night. If I dont get a bonus then we will get them in January. The boys will enjoy it and we will get some exercise. I had to giggle yesterday because I put on a pair of jeans I bought not too long ago. Well I spent the entire day pulling them up constantly. They are SO BIG on me. Dh made bacon and eggs this morning because I have been craving them since the hurricane. I really "thought" I wanted them. I ate what he made and I actually feel gross. I really didnt even eat that much of it. Shows me how much my eating habits have changed in a little over a month. The stuff I used to love to eat now makes me feel gross when I eat it.

I found out something interesting from my boss the other day. I work for a urologist and he was talking to a patient about drinking water. He said that the body uses 2 quarts of water a day just in breathing! I never realized this and then realized I am WAY under drinking on my fluids.

Welcome to all our new friends!!! You have come to the right place for motivation and support.

Karen you are in my thoughts and prayers. I am so sorry about the loss of your mother.

Well I have to run and take the boys to basketball evaluations. I will checkin laters.

Onward and Downward!!!

For all you southeners, here are a picture from our first snow. It was taken from the deck door. The deck is 8 feet up in the air and has to be shoveled during the winter to releive the stress from the weight of the snow. The satellite dish is on the far side of the back lawn, we sometime have to trudge through waist deep snow to clean the feed horn off so it can monitor the satellites.

Wow Kathy that is an awesome picture. I miss snow a lot. I dont think I could drive in it and I dont think I would like it for many months of the year but I would love to have a few days to play in it LOL!!! My boys were born here so they have never even seen snow except in pictures.

Hey, everyone.

Sorry about being MIA.

The bad news is, I weigh the same. The good news is, I weigh the same. :rotfl2:

Anyway, I haven't really done anything to improve the situation, so I guess I should feel lucky. Both DC were sick. Finally took them to the doc and they had sinus infections. I must have had a touch of it, too, 'cause I was somewhat insomnic and couldn't breath at night. I was kind of in a funk the last few weeks...

I've been wanting to go to Disney for over a year now. After looking at next year and the dates we could go (based on school & work, etc) was around now or not until a year from now. So after much discussion with DH, made reservations for Jan 5-13th. I'm so excited. I'm a little stressed, though, 'cause DH said to just do it, and then found out he hasn't requested his vacation days at work yet. :earseek: Also, took some flights out of O'Hare, and now a little concerned. Anyone who's flown out of there, please PM me, I'd like to ask for some advice. I think I'll post on the transportation board, too.

So, I have one month to get rid of a few extra pounds and get my walking shoes in gear. Let's see how it goes...

I saw a few new names ... welcome to you. Hopefully, your successes will be a little more inspiring than mine have been

Good luck all!
Kathy

P.S. - If anyone is interested in creating a clippy for the 150 club, that's definately something I can give a go at. I can either make a static or animated one. If anyone has any ideas, post here or PM me. As time allows, I'll make a few. Maybe we could have a vote!

WOW!! WELCOME new 150'ers!!!!

Maria...eh? what's that? That treadmill is calling your name...Mariaaaaaa....Mariaaaa....don't leave me hanging! :) Here's to making some walking work for ya this week! :) Yep, it can be a tough time of the year..but just look at it in stages..probably only 3-4 days where you've really got to face alot of food...try and have good snack options for times when you're bustling with all the holiday shopping and want to grab a cheeseburger....try keeping almonds in your car or peanuts...even wheat crackers...anything to keep your energy up and avoid the quick fixes.

Tiff!!! WAHOO!!! You'll have no problem with the 1/2 marathon in one month!!! :) That's a GREAT PACE and you're working it girl!!!! YAHOO on the 2 pounds!!!! Aren't you just tickled! :)

Haley! How ya doing? How's the holiday treating you? Hopefully well and all that joy in your heart will override the cravings in your mind! :) I'm hoping that for me! :)

Ali!!! What a wonderful step you've taken coming here!!! This is a GREAT group of encouragers and ENABLERS to get you losing! :) You've got a bad history behind you...having that many family members with unhealthy living/eating habits can be daunting. You've got the willpower to change this. You've got some incredible motivation (your heart and health and seeing what your family has suffered) to keep you on track. I'm not a therapist and I couldn't begin to know the reasons this is a family issue...it's so easy to throw out the eat less move more...some would say to help yourself identify the reasons you eat...but I think sometimes if we dwell too much on why we do things it can be cumbersome to our thinking and we need to simplify things as much as possible. Are you in a position to cut out one thing this week? I remember when I was in my 240's I made a pact to give up all sugar drinks (sweet tea was a staple in our house)...so when I ate out I only had diet coke or unsweet tea or most likely water (it was cheaper!) Just by cutting out all sugar drinks (including juices) I lost 3 pounds...then I'd try to give up something else...french fries...but instead of french fries I'd let myself have a small baked potato. Try looking at what foods you ate the last two days. Try to identify what a single portion is (I was amazed at what a single portion of maccaroni and cheese was..I remember eating a whole box of Kraft on my own in the old days...but that box is supposed to have 4 servings!) My heart hurts for you but my head is CELEBRATING the hope of tomorrow for you!!!! You can do this and we will be there to help you when you stall, celebrate when you lose, and see you through this! :cheer2: And don't try to do everything at once...focus on one thing at a time...take small walks when you can and as the weight comes off try and walk a bit more...

Donac!!! YAHOO!!! GREAT maintaining a 21 pound loss! :) And can't wait to celebrate you into the Onederland numbers for GOOD! :) 100's here you come! :)

Chatty! Can't LOOK BACK!!! MUST LOOK FORWARD!!! Think instead that YOU DID get to 167 last year and YOU CAN do it again and go on! :) And I totally agree...pumping the walking up from 30 a day to 45 is a GREAT losing method...you'll see great rewards! :)

Jen! I'm coming for ya and I'm bringing you with me down to the 160's!!! Those folks talking behind you about the cheer thing...will be dropping their mouths in another season! You will be done with this losing thing and just be on the living thing as the new fit and healthy you! :) YAHOO on the great take in on your outfit!

Linda! I'm really glad you got out of that situation with the high maintenance child...bless his heart...but he needs someone with more bulk and brawn to handle his outbursts. Ouch with the tetanus..that's awful! Hmm...but I'm thinking positively that it may curb your appetite? :earboy2:

Kathy! LOVE THAT SNOW!!! MY kids are screaming to come and visit you...my 7 year old just whined last night that she knows we'll never see snow living in Alabama. I told her I bet we'd have something this year....I would say in the winter here out of 90 winter days we only have 30 that are below 40..it's pretty mild here so I can get quite a bit of walking done outside. And on the weekends it's usually in the 50's during the day so I can always get a walk in then unless it's raining...not at all like the odds you're dealing with! :) But it is beautiful to see! :)

lvseeyore!! WAHOOO!!! A LOSING trend...I like it ....I love it...I want some more of it! Pass that enthusiasm over here....GREAT JOB!!!

OFf to slimfast...go finish the decorating and get a good walk in this afternoon!

Tara

Digimon! That would be great if you could come up with a clippie for us! I'm going to try and cut and paste some guidelines that were sent to me when I signed on as moderator (never knew they had these guidelines eek!)...so these might help in putting one together...this came straight from the guidelines for signature guidelines...just figured it would help in knowing sizing and stuff...I would say nothing bigger than 300x200 or so...I didn't know this but each Dis'er is not supposed to have more than 3 clippies in their signature. So with all these challenges around it can be tough deciding which ones to put on your name...I really like the ticker counters and my pounds lost clippie so my 150'ers will be my third and final...and I may have to cut out some lines...still trying to figure all that out. For ideas, I just like something cool and fun, colorful, sparkles if that's not too hard, even a scale that says 150-159 range would be cool....just simply 150 Club is simple and sweet...I'm just not good at designing and would leave that up to you!! :)

DISboard Clippie Guidelines

Maximum Image Dimension is 550 x 200
No single Image may exceed 550 pixels in width nor 200 pixels in height. You can get information about your image's size from your photo editing software, or by right-clicking on the displayed image and selecting properties. This example is 550x200 pixels in size:

Note: The 550 width is to allow mostly for Countdowns which are longer than they are tall, but you may also use photos to that same dimension if desired.

Generally photos originally taken in a 3:2 format, such as a photo 4" x 6", must be resized to meet the 200 pixel maximum height. Such a photo taken in landscape mode can be resized to 300x200 pixels. A 4" x 6" photo taken in Portrait mode would need to be resized to 133x200 pixels. Actual samples are shown below.

. . . .

Note: Your images MUST be resized before you upload them to your hosting site. Photos can be resized by using a resize feature in your photo editing software. If you are using Windows, your computer also has a program called PAINT (Found under your Accessories Group) which can be used to resize a photo using the photo's attributes and adjusting the Stretch percentages.

3. Maximum Total Width of 550
If placing images side by side, their combined width may not exceed 550 pixels. Note in the sample above, the two side by side photos are no wider than the single 550 width photo.

4. Maximum Total Filesize of 50KB
The total cumulative filesize of all images together may not exceed 50KB (51,200 bytes). You can get the filesize several ways such as looking at the listing on your computer using MyComputer or Explore, using your photo editing software to check filesize, or by right-clicking on the displayed photo or image (such as clipart or countdown) and selecting properties. If you right-click on the above photos and check their properties, you'll see them as follows:

Photo #1: Dimension is 550x200, Filesize (Size) is 47475 bytes.
Photo #2: Dimension is 300x200, Filesize is 24212 bytes.
Photo #3: Dimension is 133x200, Filesize is 19776 bytes.

Note, in this example, when added together all three photos would exceed the 51,200 byte limit. Photo #1 could be used all by itself, or photos #2 and #3 could be used together, but all three could not be used at the same time.

Note: Filesize can be decreased by changing the resolution of the image. To change resolution requires special features which can be found in many (but not all) photo editing software.

Don't forget, if you also have any countdowns or clipart, sparkly signatures, etc., you must include their filesize toward the 50KB total limit. If you have any Animated Images in your signature they can have a large filesize.

Thank you all for making me feel so welcome here. I turned 50 this past May and have a dh and 2 ds (20 and 15). I teach high school mathematics (yes make any an all comments about how hard it was in math class, I've heard them all) I have been teaching at the same school since I got my BA in 1977. I have gotten and MA and then an extra 45 credits since then. I teach low level geometry and then Honors Calculus and Advanced Placement Calculus. I love it, it is a great challenge especially the AP Calc. When we are getting ready for the big test in May I could get asked any question at all.

I am looking forward to reaching onderland. It has been a long haul this year and at times I feel like I am not making any progress and then I look at the scale and it is a lot less than it was 10 months ago so I have been doing something right.

Just before my birthday I did the MS 25 mile bike tour. My older son pretty much told me that he didn't think I could do it. When I finished I surprised my husband and he told me that he had his doubts. I have had some bone spurs that seem to be clearing up I would love to do the 2007 half marathon. I can't mention it to my family because my twin sister announced the same thing a couple of years ago and never made it. I would love to train and when it comes down to the last week then tell my family.

Thanks for letting me ramble. It is too quiet here because my older ds is working and my dh and ds are hiking to get ready to go to Philmont (a Boy SCout camp) next summer.

can we still join the 150 club? I have seen the WISH clipart on so many signatures and stupid me just now figured out how to get there....LOL

Anywho I would love to join this one..I seem to do better when I have others in my same situation.

I am currently 177 and my highest was 204 on delivery day with both dd's..I was 165 when we went to WDW last May but would give anything to be in the 150.'s by July for our next trip!!!

Well, after doing some research....I decided to call up a clinc in my area called Doctor's and Nurses Weight loss clinc of bariatic medicine. I have an appointment for 12:30 Monday to meet with the chief doctor. The receptionist said that they will perform a complete examination before I will be paired with a nutrionist and trainer. I will be weighed, have my height checked, blood pressure measured, have a complete bloodwork done, compelete urine analysis, pulmonary function test, and stress test. What is a stress test anyway? I am ready to begin my journey to a healthier me! Today, I still ate my normal:
Breakfast:
2 sausage links,2 biscuits,3 fried eggs,3 waffles,2 glasses chocolate milk
Snack: 1 brownie,1 coke
Lunch: 5 slices pizza,3 breadsticks,1 dr. pepper
Snack: a dish of vanilla ice cream
Dinner: 3 pieces fried chicken,fried okra,apple fritters,mashed potatoes,sweet tea
dessert: 3 slices apple pie
And,no I did not exersise today either....sigh

Hi Losers,

I hope everyone is having a great weekend losing.

The weekends are my rest time from the gym, but I did manage to do the sit-ups the Personal Trainer at the gym told me about. Its tough to focus on keeping your abs flat when they want to push out as you bring your shoulders higher off the ground. Will the abs ever get to the point where they just stay tightened.

Had my DH Christmas party at his reserve unit yesterday. Did ok until my DD brought me a slice of cheescake. I didn't eat the whole thing but did take about 6 bites.

I have to get better with the water thing. I'm going to make a water chart with some Disney Clipart. I want to stay motivated and just putting a tick mark on a piece of paper is not doing it for me. My problem is my fridge is so full of stuff for the kids I can't seem to find the tiny piece of paper with the marks on it. So I need to bring my water chart to the forefront.

Kilimanjarosafaris78, welcome to this group of ladies. They will sure to keep you motivated once you decided to get into the routine. By your food intake it doesn't look like you are quite there yet. Well, that is unless you tell us that you decreased the amount of food you had at each meal, from what you would have eaten. No one can expect you to change your eating over night, but we want you to meet your goal, so we will encourage you to change something everyday from a non healthy food item to a healthy food item.
A while back someone mentioned a website called Fitday.com. Try going there to track/see what food you are eating and how much it is adding to your body. It is free to join. I hope your appointment tomorrow goes well tomorrow. Please let us know.

Welcome to the new loser's,

Jennifer293 I am hoping to be at 150 for our WDW vacation in May. You are only 27 pounds away and have 6 months to do it, so I can see you at your goal already.

Donac, Wow!! It sounds like if you stick you mind to doing the half marathon in 07, you will be there. and we will help you see onederland.

Ok ladies, gotta go get the kids in their snow clothes. see ya later

Hi guys,
Welcome to all the new loosers.

NYcpa, that picture is so pretty.

Well I have just got back from a girls weekend at the spa with my SIL who is getting married in a few weeks. I was really good. I had 2 glasses of wine and 1 glass of champagne which I had allowed for and choose the healthy options at dinner. Then this morning at breakfast when everyone else was tucking into fried breakfasts (which did look yummy) I ate a bowl of fresh fruit and then went for a walk. If I haven't lost this week I will be gutted. Oh well I have to wait until Tuesday to find out.
I hope everyone else is having a good weekend.

Welcome Jennifer!

Yesterday was hectic. I kid you not. I had a basketball game...JV lost, Varsity won!! The band was at the game and i had a fab time.

I spent the night at a friend's house. We had to go to the emergency room...her sister "body slammed" her as a joke but it ends up my friend's shoulder is sprained! Owie. It snowed and we had french fries!!

Sweet things don't taste good anymore. I tried two separate full sugar cookies (Loft House brand, and regular Sandie Shortbread) and I found myself spitting them out! WAY too sweet-give me a 100 Cal Pack of Sandies and a Philly Swirl any day (still need to try those)! I can't take full sugar pop either. It makes me queazily in my tummy.

Yesterday:
B: french vanilla bread
L: Grilled Peppery Chicken Salad from Fazolis and breadsticks
D: 0...snacked a lot**
**S: us cheerleaders are such the healthy bunch! Carrots, celery, grapes, apples. Large fry from McyD's later

Today:
B: 2 apples
S: 1 beef n bean burrito (I was at the friends house still...I had to search to find anything!! My friend was sleeping still and I was HUNGRY HUNGRY)
L: chicken sandwich and 1/2 a large fry from McyD's

I might go see HP!

I did my 8 mile walk today in 2 hours which puts me ahead of the sweepers and closer to that DONALD medal. It was 24 when I started and 28 when I finished. My whole body was cold by the time I finished. According to my Garmin and heart rate monitor, I burned around 1000 cals on the walk. Now I have to try and replenish some of them.

We are having pizza for supper so that should help.

Dona - in January, I decided to do the marathon for no other reason that to prove to myself I could complete it. I am training using Marathoning for Mortals by John "The Penguin" Bingham. It has programs for walking, walk/run, run/walk, and run both the half and full marathons. I am following the walk schedule. There is a thread for those training for the races you might want to take a look at. In January, there is probably going to be a thread for those training for other races. My daughters and I plan on doing the Minnie marathon 15K in May (also at WDW). i am going to follow the walk/run schedule for that to keep me motivated during upcoming tax season. PM me if you have any questions about how i am training or doing in my training.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Let's get rid of this excess weight and become healthier. Keep drinking your water and exercise, exercise, exercise.

Hi everyone and thanks for the welcome
I went to the mall today and bought a healthy eating cookbook
My son is still laughing at the fact that I may cook as he puts it

hahaha I went to the mall today "and looked" at healthy cookbooks, but they cost so darn much. I figure I can find recipes on the internet just as easily...Who knows...I didn't do too great today in the eating department. I had a bacon egg and cheese biscuit for BF, rice and sweet and sour chicken for lunch at the mall, and then I had a HUGE Chocolate Chunk cookie at Barnes and Noble while I was looking at the cookbooks...LOL

This is gonna be harder for me around the holidays but once I get in the SWING I will be ok, it is just the point of getting there that is all..

I hope you all had a better day than me. But I did manage to get some really awesome deals at the Disney Store!!! WOOHOO!!!

Jennifer-Tomorrow is a brand new day!! It's a brand new opportunity to start over again!!!

I saw HP4 again. I loved it. I had a lemonade and I think 10 "baby" Twizzlers (snack size, I believe). Dinner was one pork fajita (5 strips grilled pork, lots of tomatoes, sprinkle of cheese). And that's it!! Heck yes-doing better already.

I started packing a little bit.

I have a Weight Loss friend now. She's one of my friend's moms...the one friend who I went to the ER with...yes, she's lost 33 pounds (and worked in a college cafeteria!!). We "shopped" her wardrobe for appropriate FL clothes. What fun!
