Good Evening Everyone,

Ok, Went to work at the gym today, but only did those sit ups. I can really feel the targeted muscles, so I'm hoping that's a good thing.

Danuk, Great job on that weight loss. I hope you plan on sticking with us after next week when you are at the 150 mark. And OH, aren't you the LUCKY one going to WDW in 2 weeks. Do you have extra room for 7 in your suitcases. I'll leave DH here so he can work.

Kilimanjao, How did the excerising feel today? I gotta ask, where did you find the swarma. When I was stationed in Saudi Arabia, I used to eat them all the time. I also want to know how the lental salad was made.

Nycpa sorry to hear about the wreck. It always seems worse when you have absolutly no control over what the other cars did. At least you can kick yourself in the butt if the accident was your fault. Take care of your neck and back...a little heat and a little cold should help.

Ok gotta go put little gifts in the kids shoes.

See ya tomorrow.

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR :cold: :cold: :cold:

Need I say more :cold: :cold: :cold:

Does shivering count as an exercise????? It is 61 in Orlando and ZERO!!!! in Chicago.

Can type teeth are chattering too much :rotfl:

Kathy - How are you feeling today? Take it easy and letting the soreness heal.......so sorry about the accident and thankful you weren't more seriously hurt :cloud9: :wizard:

Have a Magical Disney Day!!

Linda

Linda

:rotfl: Linda, is this were the case, I would be in GREAT shape! I have to wash up my long underwear, I have worn it for two days (and it did help). I can't believe how cold it is so early this year! :cold:

Well this is Day 3 of the contact lenses, and they are still in. Every morning I wake up and DH asks me how I am and I say, "Well I can still see! :teeth: " It is so strange not having to take them out, but I do like that part. But I still have 27 days to go before I make it through the 30 (so I am afraid you guys will have to endure my daily contact lense updates for awhile ;) . It's a big deal for me to do this for myself after YEARS and YEARS of wearing glasses (35 years for that matter). I just can't get use to 'seeing' my whole face in the mirror at one time!

Maria--I think LOST is a rerun tonight (so Tara, you may want to watch it to try to catch up if you haven't given up on it yet).

Jen--are you outside cheering in this freezing cold weather? Or is Football season over? I hope you are at basketball games now and can cheer indoors!

Sounds like we have some motivated Losers here! You guys are doing great with your losses! Since some of you are new, I will repeat the statistic that I posted a while back. During the holiday season (Oct. 31-Jan. 1st) the average American gains 5 pounds. So if you do nothing by maintain, you are ahead of the game. And to those of your losing....WOW!!! That is just super.

To those of you not feeling really motivated right now, hang in there! Do your best until Jan. 1st. It will get easier once all the media focus turns to losing weight (and that does happen every year when Jan. 1st comes around--you will see Slim Fast commericals on TV, you will see news stories on losing weight, the focus will be there in just a few weeks--hang in there!).

I should do good today because in just 40 minutes I leave for the dentist to either have a filling replaced or to get a crown (hoping for the filling because the crown is very expensive). Either one, I won't be eating much. I got my new favorite soup (that Campbells Gold Butternut Squash soup that only have 200 calories in the whole box!). So I will probably have that once my mouth feels up to it.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hey gang!! I'm semi back in full-speed...atleast I can sit for 10 minutes at a time...back is on the mend...it's the fastest recovery ever!!! Usually I'm out for a good 2 weeks..I think I'll be planting bulbs this weekend! :) But I went through and read all the posts over this weekend!!!

WOW!!! WE HAVE SOME DEDICATED LOSERS!!! Sure, there may be a few cheats (very small I might add...chocolate syrup on the ice cream is a good one..but I really consider ice cream by itself to be nutritive...so give yourself the ice cream-just a 1/2 cup portion or so and feel that you chose a healthy dessert! I love Breyer's natural vanilla..yum! and only 2 pounds away from goal... ) and Danauk losing 3 pounds...and so close to a new clippie! Kilimanjaro...I can not begin to say WOW WOW WOW!!! Look at how your lifestyle has changed in just 5 days!!! I'm one of those slow people that kind of has to change 1 or 2 things at a time..but not you!!! You're exercising...you're eating some GREAT foods for you..spinach/grapefruit/salmon/carrots...can I come and have you cook for me??? I just get so excited about your first weigh in...you're going to be amazed at how the weight will come off for you eating that well...if you can make those changes and post them here for us to learn by...then the least I can do is go buy some fresh veggies and have a salad! :) In five days, you've become a huge inspiration to me!!! BE SOOO VERY PROUD OF YOURSELF!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I feel for you cold folk...it is chilly here (highs in the 40's) but I am not a cold fan...my kidneys hurt in the cold...I shiver at 45...I'd probably freeze and break at 24!!! So way to go Kathy!!!

And to other Kathy! I really like the design!!! It's cool! Thanks soo much for putting it together....if anyone has any ideas please share them with Kathy..I'm usually creative but not in this area. I just love having a moniker to show that I'm with this amazing group of losers! :)

Eating for me has been lacking in vegetables (4 bites of shoepeg corn count?)...so today I'm aiming for a good salad.

Jen!!! WAY TO GO on eating...very impressed that you thought those sugar cookies were too sweet!!! :Pinkbounc

Talk to you guys soon!
Tara

Linda - we have temps hovering around 20 but we got 6-8 in of new snow last night and it is stille snowing. It took me an hour to get to work this morning when it normally takes me 20 min. My back is still soar but the muscles a spasming. My neck is another story. I found out the day before the accident that the problems with my neck are such I am being sent to a neurosurgeon for a consult. It has to do with arthritis and bulging disks.

Tara - I really would prefer warmer temps but we have to work with what we have. I will be doing my long walk on the treadmill this weekend if I do it at all. Luckily, the 10 miles on the 18th will be done at WDW. I need to get acclimated to going longer distances at warmer temps.

Still waiting to hear from the insurance company where to take the car to get the damage estimated. The message on her machine says she returns her calls within 2 hours. I first called at 1:15 yesterday and tried agian the morning. I'm not sure how she measures time.

Everyone have a great losing day. I seem to be stuck at teh same weight. Hopefully, the scale will move soon (in the right direction) before visiting the Mouse in 10 days.

Kathy!!! I totally missed the post about your accident!!! BLESS YOUR HEART!!! I'll be praying that your neck feels much better and heals quickly...nothing more aggravating than neck pain and trying to get rest with that hurting. I'll go back and find that post...I hope this winter is milder than it's starting out for you guys...

Tara

Hello All!

Have been trying to catch up on all the posts--but just had to jump in here, so please forgive me if I skip the obvious-
Our WDW vacation was WONDERFUL & thus far--ta da--no weight gain! I'll have to see what the scale says in the upcoming days, but so far so good!
We stayed at POP for the 1st 2 nights & we liked it much better than we thought we would. WE GOT OUR 1st TOWEL ANIMAL! A turkey! of course this led to the Happy Towel Animal Dance :goodvibes which became the Towel Animal Conga Line. the bulk of our stay was in a 1 bedrm at OKW--we loved it! Our room location left something to be desired, but the bamboo, hibiscus & monstera kept the road traffic screened & the auto noise at a minimum. We were on the 1st floor, & I think the 3rd floor would have been a real disappointment. We enjoyed coffee & fresh fruit on the porch each morning, greeted by the hibiscus blooms & one morning, a cute brown bunny. The weather was gorgeous--only 1 drizzly day & in the 60's to 70's. The parks not at all crowded, wait times were short--the longest 20 minutes--& most under 10 minutes. At MVMCP--just walked on to the 100 Acre Wood!
I walked, walked, walked & ate as I pleased. We like to do a large lunch & smaller dinner & I didn't go crazy--although I must admit on 2 days I was in that line at La Patisserie! :teeth: When we do go for dessert, we split it 3 ways so the portion control was automatic, enforced by DS16 & DH :flower:
Enjoyed WCC, Le Cellier, Boma, Chefs, Marrakesh, R&C in each case we made reservations the day we ate. Boma we got a 5 pm seating--the rest for 1:30 - 2 pm.
DS Patrick did Dive Quest again & loved it. Chris & I went to Karen's 3rd Annual Dismeet at Jellyrolls--what a blast & a lot of DISers! We attended our 1st DVC owners meeting, which was interesting--the 'free'meal plan will be available to DVCers next spring, no details, yet--&, extremely briefly, the Merry Members Mixer--on Thursdays & great for families w/younger kids, activities & character photo ops--We did not get a chance to attend the Mouseears meeting, but understand the room was larger & about 600 folks in attendance, the surprise guest was the lady whom Tinkerbell was modelled after
Hi Danuak! love the Figaro & cheeky pix! even tho we've just been, I still envy your trip to WDW--you're going to have the best time!
luvs_eeyore--welcome!
TiffJ--congrats on the Thanksgiving Challenge!
Kathy--congrats on your 1st official race! You are an inspiration :sunny: Wow, can't believe after all your recovery now this car accident. Here's :grouphug: & a wish & prayer for speedy & complete healing!
Jen--you have more energy than all of us put together! :Pinkbounc if the shivering does burn calories, you'll have it made!
Debra--it's so fantastic your upcoming WDW trip! It's super yr DH is so psyched! your in-laws are in for a real treat. Love the contact update--have been thinking of getting a pair for years (I have astigmatism in addition to nearsightedness, so it becomes more involved aka more expensive). DH has 30 day contacts, also, but he does take them out every night.
Hi Haley--you black belt shopper! I really have to get hopping to finish up my shopping!
Maria--glad to hear the back is recovering! planting bulbs, oh how wonderful! the ground is frozen solid here
Hi Kathy--super graphic! Thanks so much!

Well TTFN
Jean

This week has been absolutely crazy!!!!!! But I have been able to keep the eating going good. A friend from college came up & I went shopping & to lunch with her & I was good & ordered the grilled chicken salad w/lt dressing on the side. I was so proud. Hoping it will payoff when I weigh Sat. The next couple of weeks are going to be even busier. :earseek:

Tara-so sorry about your back. I know how horrible back pain is. Hope you get better soon.

killamanjaro-you are doing great! Keep up the good work. It is worth it :cheer2:

Jean-I'm so jealous of your trip. Glad you had a great time. I'll be there in 4 weeks. I only get 1 day at the parks this time but I will have time to do things I dont usually get to do, like visit resorts & stuff. I'm very excited.

Keep up the good work everyone! Debra is right, we are already way ahead of the game.

Happy Wednesday evening!

How is everyone? TOM is here for me, so I'm hoping for a better tomorrow. Also had an endless day at work -- no lunch and I stayed 1.5 hrs. late. I'm so happy WW crabcakes are on the menu tonight! Tomorrow is another day, and I'm planning treadmill time, WW greek chicken, and a positive attitude!

Tiff -- Great job with your eating! This is such a hard time of year, but you are doing fantastically!

Jean -- I'm glad you had a wonderful trip! Welcome back!

Kathy -- Oh, my! I'm so sorry about your accident. I wish you a speedy recovery, and a quick resolution for your car.

Tara -- Are you getting those salads in? I'm really glad you are recovering so quickly!

Debra -- Lost is a rerun. I have an extra hour for reading tonight! I've worn contacts for over 20 years. I bet you are enjoying the freedom!

Tracy -- I have to ask about the little gifts in the shoes! I understand that is a Dutch custom? I think that sounds like a lot of fun. Tell us more!

Jen -- Your doing a good job with your eating. Keep it up!

Kilimanjaro -- You have come so far in just a few days! You are going to be so excited as you start to see results. It takes a lot of courage to decide to change your life, and I hope you are very proud of yourself, because we're proud of you!

Danauk -- Great job on the weight loss! You're an old pro!

Here's to a losing tonight and a brighter tomorrow!

Jean,
I'm just curious. Why does he get the 30 day contacts if he wants to take them out every night? I thought they cost more because you could wear them straight for 30 days. I have a trail pair in right now, and if I don't like them I am going to get the kind my DH has that you take out every night (but can still take naps in them).

I'm just wondering, because I am new to this 'world of contacts'. :)

Debra

contacts-
DH takes them out each night & puts them into the cleansing solution because he read or saw somewhere that daily removal & cleansing are better for the eyes. Of course there have been times when traveling for business or out camping, that he leaves them in. this said, he does not have any trouble putting them in--I am a 'blinker' so it was a real pain when I did have them.
there was a bit on 20/20 or Primetime, about 2 or so years ago which stated that there was little discernable difference between a good pair of 30 day contacts & the equivalent of that brands of daily wear contacts--I believe Bausch & Lomb was one of the brands cited. It's really what you're most comfortable with & what works for you. Good luck with the lenses!
Wow! we usually have the thermostat on 56 during the day here--I am freezing :cold: Does anyone else get that adjustment factor? Well, the up side is I must be expending calories from shivering!

Oh My! I have mine on 76 during the day and 73 at night. I would freeze at your house! Actually, I prefer 78, and I sneak it up to that for a couple hours each afternoon when no one else is home, but I put it back down so by the time DH gets home it is back at 76.

This summer he kept turning on the A/C and I went around in socks and sweaters and used blankets. So I told him that come winter I am turning up the heat. So we are keeping the house at 76 year round. Luckily we have a well insolated house, but they say this year's bills are going to be really high.

So is there any truth to the idea that being cold makes you burn up more calories? Someone told me that, but I wasn't sure what to think. I doesn't sound worth it to me though. :cold:

Debra

Today's eats"
B- 1 whole wheat bagel(plain)
1 8 oz.glass apple juice
1/2 cp blackberries

L-
1 turkey sandwich w/ 2 slices lettuce and tomato and 2 tablespoons fat free/cholesterol free/reduced calorie miracle whip on whole wheat bread
6 carrot sticks
8 oz glass grape juice

D- 1 baked salmon filet
1/2 cup spinach
1/2 cup brown rice
8 oz decaffinated unsweet tea

Dessert/snack-
1 apple,4 celery sticks,2 bottles water

Exersise-same as the previous two days.

KS CONGRATS you are doing so well!!!! You have made such a big change in your eating habits in such a short amount of time. You are doing wonderfully!!! That weight is just going to melt right off you!! WTG Girl!!! Keep it up!!!

I have kept up the eating plan but havent been able to exercise. I have arthritis and fibromyalgia and my lower back has been an awful mess the last few days. I can barely sit, stand or lay, hence me being up at this time of night, without a lot of pain. Going to the rheumatologist tomorrow if he has room for me to get a cortisone shot in my back. Hopefully that will help and I can start doing some exercise. I have even been wearing my orthopedic shoes and that hasnt even helped.

Please be careful with 30 day contacts. I used to work for an opthalmologist and we saw some pretty bad corneal ulcers with infections from the 30 day contacts. If they start bothering you at all take them out immediately and clean them.

Kathy Im so sorry to hear about your accident. I hope you heal quickly and that you can get your car repaired with not too much trouble. I have no idea how these people who work in the service industry like that figure time. We had a refinance guy who worked on a time schedule like that. You would call him, his message machine would tell you exactly when he would call back, and then you would get a call the next day. Ummmmm not what the machine said LOL!!!!

Well Im gonna go try and lay down and get some more sleep. I have to be up at 5 to get my eldest son up for school.

Lets keep on going onward and downward everyone!!! :cheer2:

Kilimanjaro!! I TOO have to say WOWZERS!!! If I had the self-discipline you've shown the past 3 days in your eating...I'd have already been at goal!! You're such an inspiration!!! You are going to be sooo happy when you weigh in again...do you have to go a certain day each week? I weigh in on Mondays so it keeps me good through the weekend! :) Keep up the GREAT WORK!!!!

Kathy..how's the car stuff coming? Are you still sore? Hope it all works out quickly and well.

TiffJ...good control on eating out with a friend..those always throw me off...how's the walking? Are you walking this weekend? My back might just make it...if you're doing one. This is the fastest my back has recovered...I'm thinking it's due to having stronger abdominals this go round and taking it easy instead of pushing myself...oh, and for lvs.eeyore...try getting the back brace that has triple hooking mechanism...it wraps once with velcro then you have two side straps that pull you in and cross over...it has literally saved my back this week...I keep it on all day except for sleeping.

Debra..boy, I remember contacts...I had worn them since 6th grade! They didn't have extended wear back then but I kind of accidentally would make mine into extended wear by forgetting I had them in! I don't think a young teen is a good responsibility factor for contacts...I'm sure some are but it's so distracting being a teenager and keeping up with tiny pieces of plastic! ;) If any of you ever consider it...I highly recommend the Lasix procedure!! When we lived in Seattle, they advertised a cheap option in Vancouver (dollar exchange really)...I had both eyes done in Vancouver (2 hour drive from Seattle) for $900...it was the best thing I'd ever done for myself...I was 20/600 and had astigmatism...now I'm 20/15 and 20/20...AMAZING!! I've had no problems and my father was one of the first to have the surgery type 25 years ago..he's been great, too! Being able to see is a gift!

I didn't get my salad in yesterday...does 1/2 a baked potato count? I'm going to shoot for today to shop for some good salad foods...I thought my salad I made 3 days ago would still be fresh but it wasn't. Getting back to some exercises today to strengthen my back...and trying to clean up a bit...boy the house goes to pot when mommma's on her back! :)

Maria...shoo Tom shoo!!! Don't want ya around here no more! :) Of course, as he's leaving you he'll be slamming me! :)

Jean!!! WELCOME BACK!!! It sounds like you had a glorious time!!! I so miss all that power walking! I wish our little towns and communities were set up like Disney so we could just all walk to work and the grocery! :)

Tara

Jen, you may want to look at the Holidays one since you are going to be there next week! Lucky you!

Well this is day 4 of the contacts. Still doing fine, but I am just not sure about wearing them. I had progressive lenses for my glasses, so I could just read whenever I wanted. Now to read, I have to pull at reading glasses. I suppose eventually they will have the bifocal lenses in this type of contact (DH has them in his, but I also have an astigmatism and they just came out with these 30 day lenses for that a few weeks ago).

Thanks for the warnings about the 30 day lenses. If I start to have problems, I will take them out. The doctor is going to check me on January 5th (at the end of the 30 days) so we will see how they do. I guess they have been in Europe for a long time and many people like them. I can see why people like them. If it weren't for my problem needing bifocals I would LOVE them (so far anyway). I was laying in bed this morning and telling DH how cool it is to wake up in the morning and be able to see!

I have thought about the eye surgery thing, and well I am a BIG chicken when it comes to doing medical things. I put off having kids for 11 years and frankly one of the BIG reasons (yes I will admit it) was I was afraid to give birth! I decided I really wanted to be a mom and was only going to go through it one time (because I was sure I would never have the courage to do it again--and I was right). I always say that God knew we well, and so he slipped that extra kid in on me so my baby wouldn't have to go without a sibling! So I had my family (two kids) all at once! And NO I NEVER want to go through that again!.

Eating is awful today! Just awful, but I went to the grocery and well, there is too much good stuff around after that. I am sure I will get back in line tomorrow (I hope).

To everyone in the midwest, let's get ready for our first BIG SNOW! Are you going to get it too Linda, or are you too far north?

We are suppose to get 4-7 inches starting in just a couple hours! :cold:

Take care everyone and I hope you guys are doing better foodwise than I am today!

Debra

It's basketball season now. Maybe I didn't mention that! But it is! Thank goodness. It is snowing like mad here!!

Today the fruit sale orders came in and I have been busy munching on that.

B: 2 cups cereal (4)
L: 1/4 of a taco salad *had the tummy grumblies*
S: some pears and apples (3, 2) respective numbers...I mean, it's a LOT A LOT of fruit to eat, but there have been other things that I have been doing.

I was scurrying around the school (the school isn't huge or anything, but it's a lot of hallways in a little time! Or pacing anyway) putting goody bags in lockers. Tomorrow is the first pep rally!!

And I was doing some moderate lifting.

Did I mention TOM finally came? He arrived yesterday and with any luck, will be gone before Disney! *Yeah right*

Still feelin' a little bit sick. I don't think the fruit helped...I have sick-tummy grumblies...

Huggles and love to you all!
Jen
