Hi. My name is Jen, and I'm committed to a relationship of improving my body for the better. I started at 215 in Feb, and WI at 203 this morning. I'm busier than ever before with yearbook, my jobs (one of which is at an ice cream place, and one at a drugstore), Student Council, VP of my class, band, and now cheerleading! :cheer2: :cheer2:

I use Fitday to track my calories but I for the most part try to eat healthfully-which means portion size and moderation in my case. For exercise-running around in my ice cream store seems like enough! I love doing yoga, dancing and jumps. I'm thinking of taking a yoga class too.

B: 1 cup cheerios with milk, 2 slices PB toast
Snack: 8 baby carrots, 1 cup cherry tomatoes
L: 1 chicken breast (grilled) in 1 cup of white rice
Snack: 15 crackers, 1 baked potato with 2 TBSP cheese
D: tuna sandwich
Snack: ??, water at the movie theatre

Exercise: 28 crunches on my exercise ball, some leg exercises.

Okay I didn't really introduce myself when I signed up so I will give it a go. My name is Jennifer and I am a sahm to 2 DS 4 & 6. At my heaviest I weighed 240. I joined Curves about 2 years ago and in that year I lost 10 pounds so Jan of 2006 I joine LA Weightloss and between Jan-June I lost 50 pounds and my lowest weight was 177 I am back up to 190 but that is because of some medications I was put on and also for my lack of excersize. Well we booked our first trip to WDW with a Cruise for Feb of '08 so I would love to loose another 30-35 lbs before then. So as of Monday I am back on plan with LAWL and Curves. I plan on joining that 150 club even if it is only 159.9. Thanks for all your support ladies.

Hi Ladies!

How is everyone doing? I am SO GLAD that Spring Break has finally arrived. Sooo many of my fifth graders are going to Disney right now and I am incredibly jealous! I'm hoping we can squeeze in a short trip in October to take the edge off! Hehe!

Anyway, I lost 3 pounds this week and am getting closer to my halfway point by the minute!

Hey, could we have a little roll call? Maybe list your goals and plans. Yeah, I know I am being lazy I could go back and look it all up but humor me pleeeeease!!!! :goodvibes

Next...... :cheer2: :grouphug:

Would love to humor you Melissa!

Ok, Hello, My name is Wendy. I am married to a wonderful man, have 2 children (DS 18 and DD 10). I am a huge Disney Fan, have been to WDW a few dozen times. I was very unhealthy, with hypothyroidism, gluten intolerance and firbomyalgia. Since late Jan 2006 I have lost about 45 pounds, have to other issues under control, and feel the best I have in over 10 years. My heaviest was Dec of 2005 of 252. I want to be under 200 by my next birthday (46), so on average I have about 8.5 pounds to go.

Best of luck to all!

Wendy

I'm kind of embarrassed to reintroduce myself at this point, but here goes:

My name is Maria, and I am happily married to a very supportive husband -- we have a ds9. I used to hover in the mid 170s, but this past winter I took a turn upward and now I'm trying to get below 190, then onto 150s.

DH and I have committed to run the Disney Half Marathon in January. We've already paid our registration fees, so I have no choice but to get my act together.

I've tried WW, South Beach, Atkins and YOU diets. I do great on WW, when I actually stick to my points. I have my ups and downs, and lately I seem to be alot more down than up, and not in the good way. My dh does all the cooking, so I am very lucky.

I work full-time as a government grants professional for the largest homeless services agency in the Northeast. I'm responsible for the requesting and renewing government funding for all our programs -- street outreach, overnight drop-in center, emergency shelter, transitional housing, permanent housing, job training, literacy, health clinics, housing subsidies, etc. My department also builds our permanent housing, and although my boss overseas all the projects, my workload has expanded greatly in the last 6 months, and I'm still learning new skills and tasks every week. It's only me, my boss and our administrative specialist in our department, so there's only so far the work can trickle down...:scared1: I do have a good handle on the position since I've had it for six years, but we have a new emphasis on housing people asap, so I'm learning to do all kinds of things that are not normally under my perview. I'd like to think that most grant specialists aren't sending out Requests for Proposals for lead and asbestos testing...:rotfl:

Typing that paragraph was really good for me. I think I figured out why I ballooned -- I hadn't even thought about how much my work life has changed.

Anyway, this thread has been a great help to me. I can always find a sympathetic ear. I just need to come here more often -- I need the accountability.

I also ramble way too much...one of the hazards of a professional writer. Thanks for listening!

Maria

HI all,
I've been mostly lurking lately...full time work + full time school = not too much time for disboards.

I've battled weight pretty much all of my 45 years until recently. I started walking regularly when I moved last May and a little weight loss was my inspiration to finally get more serious about it. Maria--my sister and I are signed up for the WDW 1/2 in Jan too...we'll have to get together!

Since I've lost enough now that people notice, I've been getting lots of questions about what I'm doing...basically eating less and exercising more (walking w/weights-currently at 14 lbs of them.) ...and I'm trying to eat lots of veggies and whole grains. That's really about it...but hang in there everyone....it comes off slowly just like it went on. Set incremental goals and enjoy small progress.

Let me introduce myself. I am almost 52 (May 29th). I am married (for almost 29 years) to a great guy that I met in college. We have two sons 22 and 17 (who also love Disney how lucky can you get). I have been teaching in the same school for 30 years. Since I am senior member of the department I have been teaching Advanced Placement Calculus for the last 5 or 6 years, along with a low level course usuallly Basic Geometry. And yes after 30 years I still love teaching. In schooll I am advisor to our Math Team who won their first trophy this year (we have been competing in this league for 30 years).

Outside of school I am very active. Our family is involved with Boy Scouts and just last week we found out ds2 is an Eagle Scout like his brother. This coming fall is my last season as MArching Band President and next winter may be my last season working as costume assistant to ds's school play. I working with the costume guy for a number of years. We have done Copacabana (Yes Barry Manilow) that had over 350 costumes, Susiccal with some strange costumes, Evita and this year Pirates of Penzance which only had about 70 costumes.

I love to sew, quilt, knit and crochet. We love to camp and my favorite place to stay at Disney is FW.

My weight was an issue in high schooll. I slimmed down in college and was fine until ds 2 was born. My weight kept creeping up until a couple of years agao when I started doing something about it. I hit a low of 190 last summer and since then I have put 10 pounds back on. Just when I started getting back on track I got a sinus and ear infection anad then a stomach problem. I need to get back on track. I am fighting high blood pressure which has been better since I went on medication and lost weight. I went on medication for cholestoral this past Dec. Even with weighing the lowest I have ever been with this doctor my levels were still too high but medicine cut it by 100 points bring it down to 159. My biggest health scare in the past two years was finding out the I have irregular heartbeats. After several tests it was determined that I have an electrical problem called PVCs. It is not a serious problem and can be settled down with medicine that can also lower my blood pressure. Unless I am really tired and stressed I am fine and I don't feel them.

I am sorry that this is so long but I haven't had time to write the last couple of weeks. Last week we finished our marking period and this week we have been college shopping for ds2. We found two that we liked. ONe is only 45 minutes away(with no traffic) but large but we don't know how many will be in the engineering program. The other one is almost 2 hours away but the school is much smaller and they only admit 120 in the engineering program We have another school to go to today and then on the 14th we go back to the big school to see about their engineering school. We have a year to answer these questions.

Have a nice day and it has been great meeting everyone.

Hello Dona.

What type of engineering is your ds interested in? My ds is looking into Chemical, altho he is really interested in pyrotechincal--which isn't very wide spread. Currently he is going to go to Michigan Tech this fall. It is 10 hours away, and of meduim size. My dh and I met there.

The best to you!

Wendy

My ds is looking at Civil. At this one school he is looking at they combine the civil with environmental. They have worked civil in 5 catagories, travel, water, soil and a couple of others. I think that it is a great way to go.
10 hours is a long way to go. We are pretty lucky that there are a good number of them within 2 hours of us. We are thinking of checking out Stevens Institute which is only about an hour and a half from here but we don't think we can afford $40,000 a year. With the other places we would get 2 years for that price.

Hi -

I just found you guys earlier today and decided the best way to join is to jump in with both feet!! I'm 40, happily married for almost 14 years to a great guy after a failed first marriage. Have three kids - DS 18, DD 16 and DS 10. They keep me on my toes!

I work for a nonprofit in the Development and PR Dept. It is a women's shelter for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. We just finished our major fundraiser Saturday, which brought in almost $300,000. We're really excited but it always messes up my weightloss plans for the new year. It gets so stressful leading up to the event. Last week, I put in 80 hours so you don't get time to exercise.

I never had a weight problem until I married and started eating out. Was always a 5 then went up to a 10 with my first son. The divorce brought me back down to a 5, then it's been an uphill battle every since. My highest was almost 210. I'm under 200 now (started WW at beginning of the year) and as long as I stick to my points, I do great. With weeks like last, points just fly out the window.

I really want to get back into the 150s again. I haven't had any health problems but am starting to get worried. I've just got to keep my mind made up and not waver. I know that when I have that accountability factor, I do so much better!! So here I am!! :) We're heading back to DW in June and I know I won't make the 150s by then, but, if I'm really dilligent, I know I can at least make the 170s!!

Good Evening, Ladies!

That's right, good evening! I am finally online at home, and already doing better with my eating. Instead of laying in bed watching t.v. and eating, I am posting!

My father-in-law in staying with us tonight so he can catch an early flight to the airport (we live about 5 minutes away). That would normally be pretty stressful for me, but I'm so excited to be online I'm ignoring it.

No biking tonight, but I'm hopeful I will at least walk tomorrow. I already feel more focused just checking in.

One thing I've noticed with the roll call -- we all seem to have jobs/activities that keep us taking care of others. I know we have teachers, non-profit folk, accountants, plenty of Moms, and even our very own cheerleader! We are all very busy taking care of others and making them smile, we just have to take time for us as well. I really struggle with that, I feel guilty every time I do something just for me, even if it is exercise.

bush -- :welcome: Thanks for just jumping in! You must be exhausted! We have a separate department that does Development & External Affairs, but I know how worn to the bone you must be. I'm in my own "crunch period" right now. I have seven programs renewing federal funding and one new one, so my life will be nuts until the end of May. Congratulations on the success of your fundraiser!

Dona -- Your introduction is awesome! I forgot to say all kinds of things. I'm almost 39 (in June), and I've almost been married for 14 years (May). Outside of work I teach Sunday School, and I'm an avid reader. I love to travel, and I will spend hours and hours planning vacations. I am also in awe of you and Wendy. I can't imagine having raised someone ready for college, but I'll be there in 10 years with any luck :shamrock:

Coaster -- What are you studying? I don't think I've ever asked. You must be full of energy to do full-time work and full-time school! All that walking is paying off in many ways! :cool1:

Wendy -- You are doing great! You have plenty of obstacles with your health issues, but you are working towards your goals. You make a great role model!:thumbsup2

Nikki -- Every week you have something wonderful to report. Congratulations on doing a great job!:cloud9:

Jennifer -- You must be exhausted with two little ones! I don't know how you and Michelle do it. Finding time to exercise must be hard, too. You're off to a wonderful start, heck, you're already doing fantastic!:goodvibes

Jen -- Congratulations! I am so proud of you. I know how hard you worked and how long you've wanted this. Great job, sweetie!:cutie:

Becky -- Do cut yourself a break since you just had a baby! You are already thinking about being healthy, and that is half the battle. I have found that any diet works -- if I actually follow it:rotfl: The trick is finding one I can live with day-to-day.

Melissa -- Wow, you have been through so much. My heart goes out to you. And I feel pretty silly for my whining and complaining. The only thing stopping me from losing weight is me. You really are an inspiration. Thank you for sharing you life with us. :grouphug:

A big shout out to Tara, Linda, Kathy, and everyone else I haven't seen in awhile. Oh, and I almost forgot one more thing about me -- I'm originally from Missouri, I've only been in Boston for 10 years. You can still hear a little accent when I say "boot", but that's about it:lmao:

Let's have a great one, guys! I'll be posting my meal and exercise plan tomorrow, and checking in to let you know how it went.

Sweet Dreams,
Maria

Good Afternoon!

Here are my meal goals:

B - oatmeal w/blueberries, orange juice (4)
S - Kashi Bar (2)
L - lemon pepper fish & broccoli LC, jello pudding, sugar snap peas (6)
S - pretzels, grapes, cheese, carrots (5)
D - ? (4)
S - Lorna Doone 100 cal pack (2)

That leaves me 4 pts for dinner, which I doubt I'll make. This is a pretty typical day for me. Any ideas for how to make this over with fewer points while still getting enough calcium and feeling satisfied? I am open to suggestions!

Today is a "rest" day for me, so I'm going to try to get a quick walk in on the TM.

Everyone have a fantastic day!
Maria

Hello ladies, checking in. I'm still alive and I do miss my DIS at home. Since I lost my computer and the support you guys give me at home I have taken to snacking again out of boredom!!! I know I shouldn't but I do. I am finished with my History class and I didn't do too well because Ilost a couple of papers with my computer, oh well, life goes on. My next class starts on Tuesday so I have a few days off. I seem to have missed a ton of goings ons here, I wish I could keep up. But now for my re-introduction

Hello, I'm Michelle, a sahm to Nachito, Leila, and Karina. My birthday is on the April 24th and I will be 30 :scared: I can't believe my 20 will soon be gone forever. A day I thought would never come yet here it is :confused3 I am married to a soldier who is currently in Korea until Jan 2008. We are by no means happily married, but many deployments will do that. We work hard and try to keep it together the best we can, but it hard when you are half the world apart. I have an upcoming trip to WDW with the kids in August and that is my best weight loss incentive, I would like to be able to carry my baby in a sling while at the world and not die from exhaustion!! My weight loss journey started about 4 years ago when I was about 220 pounds. I found out I was pregnant with Leila and did my best not to gain much weight with her. By the end I had only gained about 15 pounds, and lost it all pretty quickly. In 2005 I joined curves at 209 pounds and my most recent weigh in put me at 177. Since starting the weight loss I have shed about 40-50 pounds. I'm very happy so far and just wish to take it all the way down to a healthy weight for my height, 130-150. Okay that is all I have to say.

Hello, welcome, congrats to all! Talk to you guys when I can. I hope there are no spelling errors because I'm not going to prrof read all this :lmao:

Hello everyone

Welcome Bush! You will love it here. Sounds like you have some good goals for yourself. It is amazing what reality does to you--and your body. I would never have thought that I would have fallen apart physically ever when I was in my teens and 20's. It was so easy then. Life. It can be crazy.

Dona, I agree that $40k is a bit. Sounds like there are several options just as goog for you guys. Yes, 10 hours is quite a ways away. Then DS is thinking that for his last 2 years, Cal Tech sounds good. That is a 3 day drive away. I keep thinking community college for a year to get the minor stuff out of the way is an even better option. :rotfl: We will see. Waiting on what the allergist has to say and all that jazz.

Maria, wonderful that you are online at home. It has been a long time. I have a feeling that you will be up into the wee hours checking it all out. I agree with the guilt on doing for self. It is hard to get over. Heck, clothes shopping for me is a big guilt trip. I have to have DH drag me and make me renew the lingere drawer! Hope the inlaw visit was ok. Have a quiet day at work tomorrow.

Michelle! Glad to 'see' you. I know you will get back on track with all your goals. I think falling off the wagon once in a great while keeps the sanity. I am sending you some good wishes for you and your family.

Sending good thoughts to everyone else.

Well, it is treadmill time.

Hope all have a great night and a great rest of the week.

Great losses to all

Wendy

Thank you all for the warm welcome!! I can't wait to "talk" more with everyone!!

Today, I actually drank all my water, ate more veggies and stayed within my points! Now tomorrow will probably be a much different story. Baby shower / luncheon then girls night out for mexican food and margaritas. But I'm going to try.

Maria - Definitely know about the grant crunch time! Our grant writer is going out on maternity leave within the next two weeks so we're all scrambling to make sure everything is in that we can get done. I have a feeling that I'll be drafted to work on the minor items while my supervisor does the main body of any that pop up. The big one at the moment is HUD. We have funding for women who are leaving their abuser and we help pay their rent for up to a year while they are in a transitional phase, as long as they stay in the program.

"See" you all later!!
Tammy

Is this a club for those who want to be 150 as a goal weight?

Right now my first goal is 150. When I was around 150 I was not thin, but I felt so much better than I do now. I am very short and I used to feel fat at 130! HA!

After my babies I gained so much weight. I was 186 two years ago. I am now 169 and shooting for a 1st goal of 150.

It is SOOOOO hard!

We moved from SoCal to NC 2 years ago. I have been quite homesick and DH won't even consider a move back to SoCal.

I am not doing WW but am doing something very similar to the Core Foods program with WW.

Dawn

Hello Dawn.

This is certainly the place for support.

Good luck with your goals.

Wendy

Good Morning!

This is a drive-by post. Still working on getting the eating and exercise right. I'll be glad when Easter is over...then it should be smooth sailing until our vacation.

A hearty welcome to Dawn!

Everyone have a wonderful evening!

You are missing a lot of calcium. You should have 3 dairy servings per day.
