Hi everyone!!! May I join?? As of this morning, I'm in the 150's!!! :teeth: I'm 5'8, so I only want to lose about 10 more lbs, but I'll re:evaluate when I get there.

Actually, I'm not exactly sure of my weight! On my scale, I'm now in the upper 150's. On a scale that I just inherited, I'm 151! Dh thinks that our original scale is a little high, but our new scale is a little low. He says to just average the two out to get my weight, but I want to know the REAL number, ya know? Yet, we don't want to buy another scale. What would you do?

Hope everyone is having a great week!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Good Morning, Ladies!

I'm going back to my goal from early last year -- I want to jog/walk the Disney half marathon January 2008! This time, I am going to follow the directions in the books, and not get injured because I get too overzealous. I'm going for consistency, once the TM is repaired on Friday.

I have to admit I'm not 20 anymore, and exercise accordingly. But that doesn't mean I can't do something. I get into this all or nothing mentality, which most often results in nothing for me...

Wendy -- Congratulations for your son! You must be so excited, and happy to have him settled!

Melissa -- Thanks for the cheery post! This is a hard time of year, but we can do something each day.

Dona -- I hope the medication works well for you. My dad is on lipitor, and it works great for him. I'm adopted, so who knows what's in my medical history?!

CJK -- Welcome, and congratulations for being in the 150s! You can be an inspiration for those of us trying to get there. Feel free to share some of your best tips!

Kathy -- How are you feeling these days? You are my inspiration!

Tara -- 150s or bust, baby! We are getting there in 2007!

Linda -- Hope your feeling well and doing great.

This thread keeps me smiling, and from totally giving up. Thanks for that!

Maria

Welcome to all the new people.

I am trying to get back into the swing of consistent exercise. While my arm was in the sling, I would tag along with Lynne when she did her long runs. On Sunday, she ran 20. I did 6 in 1:46, went back to the car and knitted for a while, got bored, and walked another 2 miles. I am not allowed to run yet and it was tempting to see how I could do. Saturday, I did 48 min on the stationary bike while watching the pilot for The Closer. Last night I watched part of another episode while walking on the TM. I am still leary of going too fast on the TM and having to grab the side.

Pain in the shoulder is manageable. I am still restricted from lifting, pushing, pulling and reaching. It is getting harder to remember what I'm not supposed to be doing as the pain goes away. I have gained most of the motion back.

We are doing our Christmas WDW trip the first week of Jan this year because it fit better into Lynne's schedule and coincides with the WDW Marathon weekend also.

Maria - in January you will start training to train. The actual training doesn't start until September. You are getting your body ready to do the distance. You can do it. I did the Half last year (at age 53) to prove to myself I could accomplish something of that magnitude. I had never done a race longer than a 5K. You should join us in May for the Minnie Marathon (Women Run The World). It is a 15K that uses the last 9 miles of the marathon route. I am hoping to do it this year.

I am not sure if 2008 will allow me to do the WDW races again. It looks like Erin is moving to Florida permanently. My mom and I have talked about making the move also but it won't be for a while.

Hope everyone is having a good day and surviving the Holidays.

Hello everyone!

Good to hear you are doing ok Kathy!

Not much else going on. Dona, I was also on Lipitor for a while. It is a struggle. My Dad takes it daily. It is working for him. You will do great!
With the holidays coming up, you will be so busy you won't even dwell on it!

Just a quick note to say I am dragging my heels on the treadmill thing. I will do it, and I don't know why I lag, with the kids' portable DVD player, it sits nicely on the front, and I can even do a Disney Sing-a-long while walking. Ok, off I go! It's 40 plus minutes!

Have a great night all!

Wendy

Good morning everyone

I am happy to report a 5.5 loss for this week. :cheer2: :cheer2:

That means I am at a 7 lb loss since we started. I am back to where I was when I started school in September. I am very happy. This is still a long way to go for me but this is a great push that I am very happy about.

Wendy I hope you got on your tm. My dvd player does not fit on mine and with a distance away I can't hear it. I think I need a long set of head phones for it. It will make the time go much faster. I do have a tv in the room but it does not have cable so I am limited to my choices.

Kathy Glad to hear that the arm is healing. Isn;t nice to forget about it but the pain when you do something you are not supposed to do. Glad to hear that you are still getting out to walk. It does take your mind off of things.

Maria welcome back. I would love to do the 2008 half marathon but I don't think it is in the cards. I told myself that I would have to do a half marathon here in Jersey this April before I could do the Disney and I am not ready to do it this year. Who knows things do change.

Thanks everyone for the kind words about LIpitor. I took my first pill last night. Let's see how this goes.

Everyone have a great day. Keep smiling

DONA! :yay: :yay: I am sooooooo happy dancing for you!! Congrats on such a great loss!  Now get out there and kick some more poundage to the curb!!!!

Wendy, I love the TM when I am on it but it takes me forever to talk myself onto it! LOL! Hey that DVD sounds like a great way to walk! :cheer2:

Kathy, good to hear your arm is mending! Hope you are running again soon! :Pinkbounc

Maria, hey who says we have to act our age?? I, too, tend to forget I'm not 20 anymore and can't climb mountains in a single bound!! :rotfl2: 1/2 marathon huh? That's sounds like a challenge!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Oh Tara, where are you??? We're waiting for a report!! :grouphug:

All I want for Christmas is some weight loss...really a pound or two will doooooo! Yeah, ok, so I'm not Bette Midler but you get the message don't cha??

Really I am sooooo close to 150's that I can taste it...maybe that's the problem I been tasting too much!!!

Keep up the good work and the posting!! :grouphug: :grouphug:

I wanna join too! I would love to get back to the 150's. I was around 150 lbs when I was in the Army, but gained a lot of weight due to an Army related disability. Since I have been out of the Army (2000), I have gone all the way up to 230lbs, down to 180 and now up to 195. I have to try really hard to eat right because exercise is difficult for me due to my legs. I'm doing alright today, so far, but I get really hungry beause I'm breastfeeding the baby right now. I'm gonna due my best though! :thumbsup2

CJK and shellynn24 jump on in and don't be shy! We like to share successes and encourage through those rough times!! :cheer2:

Good Evening!

Just watching "The Biggest Loser" to get inspired...still doing the You:Diet, and really enjoying the recipes...

Welcome and happy returns to everyone!

Maria

You guys are so inspiring!! Between you guys and watching Biggest Loser right now, I feel I could conquer the world! :teeth: If I only I could bottle that feeling and keep it with me in the mornings right before I drag my behind to the treadmill! ;)

I did well today I think. I did 55min. on the treadmill and I shovelled snow for 20minutes. Yup, first snow shovel of the year and I'm already tired of it! :teeth:

Hope everyone had a great day!

CJK Congrats on the tm and the snow shoveling. We are waiting ffor the first flurries tonight.

welcome shellynn24 This is a great place to be inspired

I too am trying some of the principles of You on a Diet and love it. I have walked every morning except for Sunday for the last week and a half almost two weeks. I still do some sugar but not as much. Yesterday I even made my own mayo with very little sugar and olive oil. I am trying to get as many veggies and fruits in me as possiible. I know that really helps me.

BL last night was great. My son has been watching it with me and wants Eric to win. I am looking forward to next week's show but I will probably only seee the end because I have a meeting at 7:30. My son has promised to tape it like I taped last night for him since he had a band rehersal last night for the Christmas concert.

Thank you Tiggerkeeper and donac! I like the Biggest Loser too. It always bring a tear to my eye (because I am a Sap :rotfl2: ) I wish I could get out to the Gym again. I can't afford to put the kids in daycare right now so I don't get to go. Any ideas on how to get really low impact aerobic execise in the house, without owning any equipment? I would love to buy an execise bike, some day I hope, but for now I need to do the best I can without one.

Michelle, the BL motivated me when I first started losing weight! I bought the book and the DVD and have started the workouts for toning. I really like them! Maybe you could find a DVD that you like to workout to. Walking is my torture of choice, I have lost 58 pounds just by walking. At first it kicked my butt, ahhh, but now the road fears me!!! :rotfl2:

Good luck with whatever you decide to do and make sure you let us know your progress!! :cheer2: YOU CAN DO IT!!!

shellyn there are great dvd's or videos out there where you don't need to own equipment. The Walk Away the Pounds series is great to start with. YOu can probably get some good ones at discount places or on ebay and not spend a great deal of money. I have an entire collection of them

Hello everyone!

Just a quick note to say Hello! And to brag about 2 pounds down from last week! :goodvibes

Congrats Dona! Wonderful loss! Keep it up! And a long headphone cord would help! :goodvibes You, on a diet is a cool book, and it seems to be working for you.

Well, the TM and I are getting to be friends again. Watched the new Disney planning DVD--made me want to walk even more and faster! And I am right along with you Melissa, walking has played a huge part in my weight loss. And for keeping in shape and heart healthy. It is a great way to start!

CJK--Great job! Snow shoveling is hard work, and quite the work out! Keep on going!

Welcome Michelle! I also watched the BL this week. I even watched it with hubby. We are hoping Erik wins. From what other posters have said, Walk away the pounds is a good DVD to do at home. Check into it!

Hope you are running out and about Kathy!

Maria, I think our thread would be a great 'word of mouth' site for You on a diet! When I first picked it up and skimmed it, I thought 'Wow-this is so basic and normal.' Even my 10 year old is able to understand what is going on. Thanks for the tip!

It looks like I need to hop in the car and go off to work for 9 hours! :sad1:
At least the snow has stopped and the wind is the only issue!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Great losses to all!

Wendy

Hey Wendy! WTG 2 more pounds kicked to the curb!! :cool1:

Keep up the good work!! :grouphug:

I am reading You on a Diet currently. The principle appear easy to follow. I will not start until early January after seeing my surgeon and getting the ok to resume exercise. It will also conincide with tax season when I have the tendency to much all day at my desk because of boredom and stress. It seems strange to be bored at the busiest time of year but most tax returns do not present the challenge I need to remain focused.

I exercised on last Sat until Wed this week. Sat was the exercise bike, Sun 8 miles out doors, Mon - Wed 30 min each day on the TM. Thursday - I was in pain after PT for my shoulder and didn't do anything. I shoveled 20 min on Friday (strictily against Drs orders) and was lazy yesterday.

Today is another outside walk while my daughter is running 12 miles. That should give me time to walk about 5 miles. The high today is supposed to be 45 and it is sunny so it should be a nice walk.

I am going to try an use the TM each night after work. I told myself last week, I couldn't have supper until I had walked at least 30 min. It worked so I will follow the same plan.

Dona and Wendy - congrats on the weight loss.

I am a fan of BL also. My area decided to broadcast the Billy Graham Crusade instead of the full 2 hours last week. I am also hoping Eric wins since he is a New Yorker also. All the contestants have done great and put in alot of effort. According to the Prevention magazine, Kai is now in law school in Maine.

Have rambled long enough, will check in after my walk to let you know how I did.

Have a great day.

Good Afternoon Losers!! And I mean that in the best of ways!! :rotfl: Well, the scale says......another two pound loss for a total of 60 pounds lost!! :cool1: That means to reach my ultimate goal only 20 more pounds! I cannot believe it! :woohoo: This time last year I weighed 220 and wore a size 18 jeans tightly 22 comfortably!! Now I wear a 10 comfortably.

I gotta start thinking of a new New Year's resolution!!! What a problem to have!! :cool1:

Melissa I am impressed that in one year you have come so far. I should have lost some more this year but I am also happy to end this year even just a little lower than last year. Quite a dilema to have to find a new resolution.

Kathy Snow shoveling :crazy2: Do you want to get yelled at by your doctor? Congrats on your walking though. Most recoveries are much better if you keep the rest of your body as healthy as possible.

I too will follow the YOu on a Diet more closely after the new year. IO am walking everyday now because of that book though. I am trying to follow most of the principles without driving myself too crazy for the next couple weeks.

Wendy congrats on the weight loss.

I am here baking cookies to give out to the secretaries of my school along with some nice tea bags. There are about 15 secretaries in the building so I wanted to do something but it couldn't be too big since there are so many. I less than a half an hour I was able to bake 8 trays of cookies because I had put so much into the freezer a couple of weeks ago. Now I just have to bag them up. THen I have to do some school work for tomorrow and for the workshop I am giving on Tuesday.

I am not done shopping but I sent out the invites to my Christmas Day party for my husband's family and I talked to my mother about what we are doing Christmas Eve for my family. I think I picked out the cold cut tray that I am going to order this week and the veggie tray. My sister just started an Edible Arrangment so I have to call her so she can make one up for me that I can buy one from her.

Funny story about some Christmas presents. Two of the guys from the show "Whose Line is it Anyway" will be preforming near here in April. My sons love that show so for Christmas we got each of them two tickets. A few days later my husband says why don't we go since we don't know if #1 son will want to drive #2 son and his friend around. When I got to the box office We were able to get tickets in the same row right next to them. Yesterday my husband says why don't we get our friends tickets for the same show (we did this last year.) So today I went to the box office to get two more tickets. When I got there their computers had crashed and they were waiting for them to come back up. I told the guy my dilema and went home. I was only home a couple of minutes when the phone rang. My #2 son wanted to get it but I yelled at him and I got the phone. Of course it was the box office. Would you believe that I was able to get tickets in the same row. :dance3: :dance3: It should be a :dance3: fun night. It may cost a fortune in dinner costs but it is nice to go out.

Have a good day everyone
