Hi all -

Hope everyone had a good weekend...

I had one of my most inspirational experiences this weekend - providing support to a team of 7 runners participating in the Oahu Perimeter Relay Race.

Long story short: Teams run a 139.7 mile relay race around the island - starting and finishing at Pearl Harbor. I witnessed so many instances of teams (not just runners... but the people that support them as well) - pushing through obstacles and mental "can I do this" blocks to achieve their dreams.

Now when I look at the scale - and it doesn't move... or I have a challenging day at work... or just am tempted to not follow my eating and exercise plan - I realize that so much of what we think we can't do is really in our heads.

Just my opinion... it's certainly given me a new perspective on my challenges. We can succeed at anything we set our minds on.

Thanks for letting me wax poetic. :teeth:

Have a great week everyone. I'm off to drink more water...

Aloha! :wave2:

Iris

Hello fellow losers.

Today was a wasted day for me as far as working. I had a early am dr appt. Then off to a clients to waste time because we couldn't get the answers we needed from the teamster int'l to close out the jan books under their antiquated system.. the never heard of double entry bookkeeping (must be a new phenomonem (sp?)). No wonder the big guys are sometimes crooks.   It really played havoc with my water consumption :drinking1 :drinking1 Have to make up for it tonight

had PT this afternoon for 1 hr, then went to strength training class for 45 min. Felt good after class :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: I guess the day wasn't totally a waste, I still got to exercise.

Onward and downward

Good morning everyone! Hope you all have a wonderful l :cool1: osing day!

Mornin All!!

It is an icy 23 degrees here and warning are out all over about black ice on the roads. :cold: I really HATE winter - Whew!! Glad I got that out of my system :)

Have decided NOT to weigh myself this week at all. TOM has come to visit and he is messing me big time :sad2: So to keep my sanity I am walkin away from the scale ;)

Still haven't connected with the trainer:( Last week I had to cancel because of DD strep. Last night she had to cancel because of a family illness. Yes, she is the only trainer in the evening which I think is dumb. Keep your fingers crossed that we will connect.

Sarahsmom - You have a Losin' kind of day as well :goodvibes If I remember you are the teacher? Going to have 6th grade this morning and kindergarten this afternoon..........mental stretch? :rotfl2:

NYCPA - Never a wasted day when you move your body!!!! :Pinkbounc We ALWAYS look for the positive!!!

Iris - What a GREAT inspiration to us all!! Thanks!! Aloha:)

Tara - 180's is yours to own!! :cheer2:

Tracy - How are you doing? Are the rest of the SB days getting easier for you? Let us know.

To the rest of the team - (well you know tee hee)

Keep moving!!
Keeping drinking!! :cheer2: :cheer2:
Keep making good food choices!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Could not do it without you :grouphug: THANKS!!

Have a magical Disney Day!! :earsboy:
Linda

:confused:Does moving snow count as exercise :confused3:confused3:confused3 Spent 15 min this morning cleaning 4" of the white stuff from my car and another 15 min shoveling in front of the doors at the office. Forcast is for another 6 - 10 " by tomorrow and unknow accumulations for those lucky enough to live in the lake effect snow band (that would be me) :jumping1:

Have a good losing day everyone. Plan to go the the gym on my way home from the dentist to do the strength workout set up for me by my trainer. Hopefully that will give me enough enough energy to hit the stationary bike at home for 45 min while watching another episode of 24.

Onward and downward
Don't forget the water :drinking1:drinking1:drinking1

Thanks everyone for the support. I finally started a journal last night . Comments and suggestions welcome

Kathy

Here you have another "24" fan.......totally addicted to that show.

Have a magical Disney Day!!

Linda

    I'm feeling HOT HOT HOT!!!!
On my daily weigh in I saw 189.5!!!! My official weigh in is Thursday but I'm sooo EXCITED to be in the 180's that I just had to SHOUT IT OUT!!!! I think I have enough space between now and TOM (about 10 days) to firmly settle into the 180's and NEVER see 190's AGAIN!!!! SO LONG 190's!!!! It's been CRAPPY Knowing ya!!!

Iris...I really need to volunteer for some races...or sign up...they really do take the guesswork out of living healthy...what an inspiration to see those teams PUSH ON to a healthier self!!!

NYcpa...dontcha dislike having to waste a day of work...especially since you've probably got so many other clients to deal with....I hope the next time those teamsters are prepared!! But it wasn't a wasted day for YOU!!! Because you treated yourself to some great exercise time and you reminded yourself to drink your water!!! And everytime you remind yourself it sends a little reminder into the heads of all us 150'ers!!! So from us I THANK YOU!!!! Oh! And HAVE A GREAT moving day today...you've got a GREAT plan!!! Sending pixie dust on the dentist...I'm terrified of them! :wizard:

Linda..I think that's a good plan...I really think we should just name the 2 days before TOM, TOM and the two days after as the "NO WEIGH ZONE"...I really get no pleasure at all weighing those days....I can eat just GREAT! And exercise HUGELY! And still gain 3 pounds...no good, I tell ya!!! So we'll be here for you to see you back to losing mode! :)

Loving the 180's...but not for TOO LONG...hoping March winds will BLOW me right into the 170's for April SHowers to wash me into the 160's and May to BLOOM me into the 150's!!!!!! So I can soak up the sun feeling HOT HOT HOT!!! :)

Tara

TARA! Close that 190 door forever!! Keep up the good work and that official weigh-in will be even more than just 189.5!!

I found a new inspirational quote....

One of the greatest discoveries a man makes, one of his great surprises, is to find he can do what he was afraid he couldn't do....Henry Ford

Wow, is that ever true!

:grouphug: to all!

Congratulations on being in the 180's Tara. :cool1: I can't wait to get there myself. Tell me, how does it feel?

Melissa I love the quote, it's so true.

I cannot believe that I never did check in last week, I lost 3.5 pounds! Sad to say that I gained back 1 of those pounds this week. That's OK, it will be gone next week, hopefully taking at least one of it's friends with it. :goodvibes

Everyone is doing such a great job!! Keep it up! :cheer2:

Christie

WAHOOOOO!!!! CHRISTIE!!!!   :) 3.5 and you didn't tell?? Well, I put you down for 3.5 and we can adjust it on your next weigh in...I bet that pound will be gone and then some!!! :)

Melissa...that is a GREAT quote!!! Each day I wake up to remind myself why I'm on this jouney to the 150's...and I really am convinced that this time I will get there without GIVING up to life or GIVING in to my cravings and comfort eating. My comfort now is in having a lean and healthy body...much better than any chocolate chip cookie! :)

And the FINAL TALLY FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY FOR THE 150's TEAM!!!

Do you know how many pounds this team lost last month?????

57 POUNDS!!!

March should bring better weather for most of us and it's a longer month...so let's do our best to make it a losing one and try and top 57 pounds!!!! I'm just amazed that we lost 57 pounds this month!!! Give yourselves a BIG HUG AND pat on the back...your hard work is working!!! :)

Make March a March into Fitness month! :)

Tara

Tara - Great news about your 180's. I hope your WI on Thursday is even BETTER :cool1:

Well, my WI wasn't great, but still a loss. I'm down .6 pounds for a total of 41.2 and my current weight is 166.8

I was hoping for more, but it's still that TOM and I know next week will be better. Only 7.8 pounds till I see 159!!!

Hey Gang - I haven't check in for a couple of days. I'm pretty down and out. The scale isn't moving and I'm holding at 170. TOM is due any day and I'm pretty cranky. Still working out. Got some new running shoes over the weekend and I love them.

I'm glad everyone is doing so well. I need to get over my funk and be patient with my scale.

Send me some motivation I could use it.

Tracy

Tracy - Hang in there, even if the scale is not moving, you might be losing inches. Just keep exercising and eating right and the scale will follow.

Okay everyone, next time I say that everything is fine here, so staying on plan is easy, please slap me. Sat. morning DH woke up with a sinus infection and an infected tooth, by Sat. evening he was in the E.R. due to the pain and was almost admitted for I.V. antibiotics. Then late Sat. I came down with a nasty stomach bug that kept me down until this morining. I didn't go to work today, just to make sure everything was back on track. Then on top of all of this I joined the TOM club this weekend.

Regina

Managed to get in 45 min of strength training today. My glutes and quads can already feel it. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Hopefully it will help me lose some of the extra weight I'm carrying around.

Today was another hectic day like yesterday. Plays havoc with my water intake. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. :confused3 :confused3

Great job to everyone who has lost this past week. Keep up the downward journey. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Onward and Downward

Tera!!! CELEBRATE!!! .6 is HUGE when you're sooo close to a goal weight!!! YEAH!!!! :cheer2: Water, water, water...and I remember when Alex used to give challenges around here...he'd ask you what exercise you had done the prior week and he'd write an Rx for the next week...for instance I had been walking 10 miles a week and he said next week shoot for 15...I did and 4 pounds came off! Sometimes our bodies get used to what we're doing and we need to shake it up a bit...whether it's flushing it with water or even eating differently...making lunch your bigger meal or vice/versa. You're sooo where I would love to be....you give me goosebumps just seeing that number...so I'm sure 169 will make you feel GRAND!!!! :grouphug:

Tracy!!!!  :cool1: :cool1: :cheer2: :cheer2:
We're HERE FOR YOU!!!! Okay, motivation...here are some tips...start singing Jen's HOT HOT HOT song..it really has helped me! Switch up your exercise....sometimes we get in a rut, there too. Take a nice hot bubble bath...can you believe I do this EVERYDAY!!! I used to never take the time and just shower quickly...but I wake up earlier so I can soak and just take in the fact that my body is taking up less bath space! :) YOU CAN DO THIS!!! We're here for ya!!!

REGINA!!! You have permission to take 5 bubble baths!!!! You poor thing!!! Life has hit you hard this weekend! Sunny days are ahead!!! :sunny: Get that water in and take it easy while TOM hits...next week will be a GREAT week for you...no sickies!!!! :grouphug:

NYcpa...girl!! YOU DID GREAT!!!! 45 minutes on concentrated muscle strengthening is HUGE! Those are your biggest muscles and they will burn the most calories! So feel GREAT that you're building those fat burning muscle fibers and on days when you can't get a workout...those little fibers you buildt today will STILL be working for you!!! :)

I was pleasantly surprised to realize that today is my OFF Boot Camp day!!! I was all ready to exercise...but then thought...nope I get to REST! :) Hopefully 180's will still be with me in the morning! :)

Tara

Mornin all!! :sunny:

It is a chilly 15 degrees here :cold: I HATE COLD AND WINTER!! ;)

So yesterday I tried a WATP Fat burning DVD (2 mile), now I have done other 2 mile tapes and they are managable. This one WHEW!! I have a new goal to work towards doing the grapevine :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Ok so I am not a dancer :rotfl: :rotfl:

Last night I went with my friends to the indoor walking track and walked briskly for 45 minutes. Trying to meet with the personal trainer AGAIN today. Keep your fingers crossed that nothing comes up.

Also Pilates starts tonight........Doctor wants those core muscles built up. :Pinkbounc

Kathy you are an inspiration 45 minutes WOO HOO!!

Tracy - Hang with us and we will all get through this together!! :cheer2: I am hanging with you at 170 - the scale won't budge so I walked away from it. TOM is here and I am just not going to think about it.

Regina - You got the bad vibes out of the way in one weekend. Here's some pixie dust for the rest of the week :wizard:

Team 150 - CONGRATS TO US!! :cool1: :cool1: We are one smooth team. I didn't contribute but it is giving motivation to be a BIG CONTRIBUTOR next month.

Alright team have a GREAT DAY :Pinkbounc

Off to sub in the worst of the worst - PE at the junior high.........someone say some prayers :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Have a magical Disney Day!! :earsboy:
Linda

Linda!! OH!! I have itchy feelings from PE when I was in school...those uniforms were the worst! :) Here's to you having a GREAT time...and just think of all the fat you'll be displacing by being in a class where you're standing/moving most the time! Show those kids that you can run like the rest of them! :) And you will be a GREAT contributor...I CAN'T wait for you to be in the 160's!!! You're sooo close!!! FLUSH THAT FAT AWAY!!! :)

Today is my dd's 7th birthday...it's tradition to make homemade cinnamon rolls...so I'm off to do my duty...I can avoid those pretty well....it's the cake that worries me today...but my motivation to avoid it comes from NEVER wanting to see 190's again...so I just may be able to avoid it...my problem is if I have one piece I just simply keep eating...that Valentine's cake was one small piece and it turned into a full portion of leftovers that I couldn't see go to waste...This time I'm bringing plastic tupperware to send home with the guests so I can divide the cake and just bring a small portion home for my children to eat over the next few days. I will be FLUSHING LOTS of water today to avoid any cravings....oops hear a child coming down..gotta go start the rolls!
Tara

150 Divas Good Morning! It's Wednesday! Weekend is on its way! Hope you all are meeting the challenges of the week with a big boot to kick them out of the way! :cheer2: :cheer2:

This is off topic but I was hoping you guys could help me come up with a little surprise for a friend. She is a 3rd grade teacher who has not been in a classroom in 18 months (since the sudden death of her husband). She is going to substitue for the first time Friday. She is nervous and a little intimidated. I am going to keep her son (he was 4 months at the time of his Dad's death and I was their sitter) and I wanted to give her a little something Friday morning to let her know we are pulling for her. Any suggestions?

Regina, I hope everything is better real soon. :grouphug:

Linda, be careful with that grapevine it can tie you in knots! :rotfl2:

NYcpa, I bow at your exercise discipline. :worship:

Ok, let's get in there and kick some poundage!! :rotfl: :grouphug:

And, uh, Tara PUT THAT CAKE DOWN or rub it on your hips!! :teeth:

Guys I weighed 188.0 today!!! That cake will not ENTER my mouth!!! Amazing how when the scale is kind...it completely motivates you! And I have to say that 188 on this evil scale (I used to have a kindler/gentler scale that weighed me 5 pounds less but it broke....maybe the evil scale sabotaged it!) I officially am 70 pounds from my highest of 258!!! WWOWWW!!!

Melissa! How utterly, amazingly, saddening....I'm very tender-hearted and I can't hear stories like your friends without choking up and feeling a pit in my stomach. I'll try to think of some ways to make it special...I don't know what kind of personality she has so don't know if she wants to come in quietly with no fanfare or if fanfare would give her a spark of happiness...I'm the type that would probably want little fanfare...but would appreciate some kind gestures....
1. Have a card on her desk or slip it in her purse for encouragment...something cheery, bright welcoming her back.
2. Take her out to lunch...it might do her good to go out for lunch if that's allowed...and seeing her son would give her a lift.
3. Send her flowers to her home so when she comes home (and this would be the toughest I think...because the last time she came home from work her husband was there) she will have something bright and cheery to let her know that she made it through.
4. Buy something special for her son...when someone gives my children a gift and I see their smile it just makes my day.

Hopefully something here will help...I'll be saying prayers for her today!

Tara
