The thumb is doing much better now, thanks. It's almost normal size now on the outside!!! I'm soaking and taking the horse pills (Torture!)...um I mean the three-Advil-across antibiotics that the doctor gave me all the way through. I don't want to be known as Sausage Thumb the rest of the school year!

Eating has been alright. I woke up extremely late for me (9:00! :teeth: Never been very good at sleeping in) and had french toast for breakfast! :scared1: It was alright. I had four slices though!! :scared1:

I also walked to the library, got some more books, and stopped at a pizza shop for lunch. I had pizza for dinner last night (it wasn't very good but I ate it anyway).

Lunch was a chef salad with ranch, breadsticks, water and LOTS of conversation. Which means slower eating on my part! Some friends were there and we had a general good time.

Dinner: I have no clue. I'm not really hungry now, which is a blessing because: :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: has invaded our house and taken over our kitchen!! Four slices of cinnamon swirl :cake: are calling my name and I'm not LISTENING!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Speaking of which, I survived exams!!! And the semester is over, with a new one starting tomorrow. Which means I have GYM! Yay for Gym! No more keyboarding and yearbook though. I am going to do my darndest to take away my study hall and be the Yearbook Aide. But still, I have to suffer through a day or two of study hall. Ugga bugga boo.
Linda-I am the cook in "cinderella"! I have my own SONG too!! Speaking of "Cindy"-I have practices all next week. This should be good...no :cheer2: because of mandatory practices though :( .
Taken and adapted: I Have A Dream Speech
I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration of willpower in the history of our DISing.
On our first days here, many great Americans, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed a contract to themselves. This momentous decree came as a great beacon of hope to many of others who thought they "couldn't do this", who had been seared in the flames of overpowering minds, cheetos-grabbing hands and bad habits. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity. But even now, the WISHers still are not free. Still, the life of a 150 Clubber is still sadly crippled by the power of negative thinking and the chains of old habits.
In a sense, we have come to our senses to cash a reality check. When the mods of our contracts wrote the magnificent words of the DISboards and WISH, they were signing a promissory note to which every DISer was to fall heir.
This note was a promise that all men, yes, black (wo)men as well as white (wo)men (and all colors, even purple with blue polka dots), would be guaranteed to the inalienable rights of life liberty the pursuit of happiness and the neverending quest for Health.
It is obvious today that some of us have defaulted on this promissory note insofar as her citizens of ONEderland are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, we have given ourselves a bad check, a check that has come back marked "insufficient funds."
But we refuse to believe that the bank of willpower is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. So we have come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of carrots, low sugar Philly Swirls and water.
We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind us of the fierce urgency of Now. This is not time to engage in the luxury of taking a break when we have worked this hard or to take the tranquilizing drug of snacky foods!
Now is the time to make real the promise of weight loss.
Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of Cheetos n Chocolate to the sunlit path of Healthy Ways.
Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of backslipping to the solid rock of stability.
Now is the time to make losing a reality to all of the WISHers.
It would be fatal for us to overlook the urgency of the moment and to underestimate the determination of someone who is mentally and physically ready. This sweltering summer of the "Fatty Pattie"'s legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of health and opportunity. 2005 is not an end but a beginning. Those who hope that the "rising statistics" needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if we return to business as usual.
There will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the 150ers are back on their tracks. The whirlwinds of chocolate and cheese will continue to shake the foundations of our plans until the bright day of rededication emerges.
But there is something that I must say to my people who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of smaller sizes. In the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds.
Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for two pieces by drinking from the cup of sodas and juices. We must ever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into potato chips and Edy's Grand. Again and again we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting happy mouths with busyness.
...
We can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of all this weight, cannot gain smaller sizes on the way down and subliminal messaging of the advertising!!!
Jen - great thoughts and encouragement. You show wisdom beyond your years. We all needed the pep talk to get us moving again. Lets kick these extra pounds to the curb and become healthier happier people.
Have a good time in gym and enjoy your second semester.
Jen...MLK would be jumping on this weight loss band wagon if he would have heard your take on his speech. Bravo Bravo. How motivated do I feel. I tell ya. I'm going to drink a bottle of water RIGHT NOW
Good morning everyone.
Saw 171.5 on the scale this morning. May have been better if I hadn't eaten almost a full bag of almond M&M's while watching the SU basketball game. Need to get all candy out of the house and get exercising again before empty nest syndrome hits again.
The one thing I did right yesterday was drink over 100 oz of water. My throat felt dry so I just kept drinking. The air in the office is dry so that helped initiate the water consumption.
Need to get working. Too much stuff to do in too little time.
Hi guys!! Thanks!
Today was a REALLY good day food wise. I am so proud!
Not to mention I did well on all my exams (even that B in math!!! I was pretty proud of that sucker because I had to take the practice exam the day I got back!)
B: egg with ham, two tone toast (7)
L: meatball "sub" (5)
S: strawberries and a bananer! :banana: (3)
We also got a bunch of nifty salad ingredients!!
And did I mention I got the Yearbook position? The teacher who runs it saw me reading and proofing papers and recruited me on the spot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!! We also have to sold ads and have sold ONE!!! Yay! It's hard because I got a bunch of "please call us back"s and "they just stepped out, honey" or no's. But I have one and that's quite a start for today :cool1: :cool1:
Gym had a soft start today...we got the syllabus (syllabus? :upsidedow Crazy!) and played "mattball"...kickball but longer and twisted! I kicked a couple times, ran some, almost caught a ball...it was great!!!
And when the summer comes, I might just splurge-on new clothes! And some Nice Clothes. I have never really had truly nice-for-dress-up clothes because everything had to pull double duty. I am going to look pretty!!! :hyper: :hyper:
Hi Everyone,
Here I am at the gym writing my post work out post. Today was not a very good water day, unlike NYCpa. I will catch up though. I'll just be using the bathroom all night.
So did I ask why I can't seem to find a toaster in the month of January. Is there some sort of toaster month, like the annual white sales. boy what a project it has been to find a four slice toaster. Can you imagine MY house with a two slicer :rotfl: Anyway, I found a Cuisinart one at Bed,Bath and Beyond, yesterday, I used my 20% off coupon from Linens and Things, brought the toaster home, put an English Muffin in it and one side won't go down. DH(Dave) worked 19 hours yesterday, so I didn't want to go out with all the kids AGAIN and return the thing(20 miles away) so I ran down this AM with only 3 kids. On the way back I stopped at the store for milk, bread and eggs :scratchin (isn't that what you are supposed to buy when your getting a storm) Anyway, while in the store a friend calls to tell me our kids school is dismissing early. I'm not sure why, since it was doing absolutly nothing. HELLO!!! Well, my kids go to a parochial school in a different county than we live in and the school district we live in was NOT dismissing early. So no busses were going to be coming for them. So I spent a good half hour on the phone trying to figure out how I was going to get the 3 school aged children home from 2 different schools. We do own a Suburban, however DH is using it, since our (his) minivan is being repaired. Anyway, I forgot about the water drinking thing with all of this going on. Eating was so so today. But I did work out for 60 minutes. :banana:
DH worked 16 hours on Sunday, 19 hours yesterday and his regular 8 today. Needless to say he looks like a walking zombie. I hope he is showing patience with the kids while I'm here at the gym. I'm sure he'll be in bed as soon as I get home.
Hopefully tomorrow will be a better drinking day
Happy losing
Dinner: Confetti Salad and Hearty Sauce*
Confetti Salad: two tomatoes sliced, 1/4 of a cucumber chopped, 4 baby carrots slices, cheese
Hearty Sauce: homemade spaghetti sauce with hamburger
Snack: 1 banana and 3 slices cheese
I have managed to get my water in today with no problems. Had 64 oz drank before coming home from work. Eating was fine until getting home.
Breakfast - oatmeal square, mini peppermint patty
Snack - 4 pretzels
Lunch - chix caesar salad
Snack - 3 mini peppermint candies
Pre supper - remainder of the almond M&M's :scared1:
Supper - 2 perfect portion biscuits, raw cauliflower, chunk of jalapeno cheese and diet 7UP. (I thawed out pork chops but wasn't motivated to cook them)
I am sadly missing in fruits and could stand to eat more veggies. I seem to have lost my motivation to eat a decent meal. I also have not exercised since coming home from WDW after doing the half except for a half hour walk. :scratchin I need to get moving again because I want to be able to run more for the Minnie Marathon on May 7.
I don't know if my lethargy is post-race let down or empty nest syndrome. I was hoping I would be too busy at work to notice. Well I am swamped at work but can't seem to get motivated there either. I will pay for it this weekend when I have to work to get everything done before going to Long Island next week.
Has anyone else been having the mid-winter doldrums? Any suggestions for keeping motivated?
Hi Everyone,
Today was pretty good, the only glitch was that I forgot I had a lunch meeting today. Luckily it was catered and we had salad, grilled chicken and fuit salad, so at least it wasn't high fat. I did get up today and exercise, so I am happy with that. The next couple of weeks should be very good for exercise. I am using up my vacation time for 2005, so I am not working 10 hour days, so I can get up at 5:30 and still exercise and make it to work on time.
Regina
Evening Everyone!!
Can anyone please let me know which direction to find the sun :sunny: :confused3 :sunny: :confused3 :sunny: Mr. Sun is lost or maybe it is Chicago who is lost :rotfl: either way thoughts will be turning homicidal (not suicidal :rotfl: ) if the rain doesn't go away and the sun come out.
I don't think this city has ever been this dark and gloomy and it is really starting to show in the moods of its people. :eek:
Well the treadmill is dusted off and in its new spot and I was bound and determined to get on it today before Cody (loving spoiled demanding 9 mo old puppy) got home (He gets to go once a week to a doggie day care place so he can play with friends - ok ok stop shaking your head.... :teeth:) He loves it.........Well best of plans got waylaid and I haven't even said Hi to the TM will try again tomorrow.
Kathy - Weather is a HUGE factor in the way people feel. Has it been gloomy and cloudy by you? How about going somewhere with bright lights.......something fun. It is so hard being an empty nester (that is what I have been told and will be experiencing it this fall). Hang in there - keep focusing on the minnie marathon and how good you will feel running it :banana: :banana:
Regina - Good choices at lunch!! Take me with for exercising :worship:
Jen - How did finals go? CONGRATS on the yearbook position!!!! :cool1:
Schatz - My heart goes out to your DH.......is he getting any sleep at all? What a juggling act getting your kids from point A to Point B. WOW you are one organized flexible person!!!! Hang in there it will get better :grouphug:
Cody is running out of patience AGAIN!! Bedtime I think for him!! :hyper:
Good LUCK and Happy Wednesday!!
Have a Magical Disney Day!!
Linda
Jen! I see a career in journalism for you!!! Glad the editor found your special gifts that we get to be blessed by!!! LOVE LOVE LOVED the Freedom speech..I really do believe it is all about freedom..these pounds are chains on us! :)
Kathy..Yep, I need fruits and veggies...let's make a vow to go buy some...I have raisins and apples that's it...and I eat an apple every 3rd day just because I forget about them...let's kick that habit!
Regina....you're doing strong with your choices!!! It's hard getting back and running into a losing mode...but once you're there it's much easier to roll through the days choosing wisely.
Tracy!!! Did you get your children???? You poor thing!!! Are you snowed in???? Good, that means more posts from you! :) But with all kids home, maybe you're going crazy! :) You really amaze me and I hope you're keeping a journal of all your adventures with your family....I envision Cheaper By the Dozen going on at your house! :)
Linda....I'll send some sun to you today!!! I promise it'll be shining! :) I'd love pictures of snow if any of you have some...my kids are forgetting what it looks like! :)
Planning a big slimfast for breakfast/lunch and potroast for dinner...need to get out today and walk this puppy! ;)
Losing is GREAT!
Tara
Hey guys! It snowed here! Which means, school was delayed two hours!!!
Tara-Thanks!!!
Linda-Finals went well...103% (curve) for Government, 92% for Biology, 100% for Spanish I, 94% in English, 86% in Math :faint: :( :scared1: , 100% in Personal Development, and 100% in Band!
It figures. Whenever I have gym in the second half of the school year, we always start off with a delay or a closing...
Well, my mom just ran in here and told me the good news: SCHOOL IS CANCELLED FOR THE DAY! I mean, it really isn't THAT bad outside. But it's a snowday!
Well, I'm sticking my ol head back in again! Our family got back from 9 days in the world on Friday & I headed back to the gym 1st thing Monday morning. I'm excited because my women-only gym is part of a larger franchise and they opened a new co-ed club right near the women-only one. I decided to give it a try because it opens a 1/2 hour earlier (5am) so I can get my workout done without being really rushed. It is awesome, all kinds of new toys, some cool incline treadmills...I'm actually having fun at the gym!
However, I seem to be having the hardest time with keeping my eating in check. I do fine until mid-day then I bottom out & want to eat whatever is in sight! Any suggestions? I tried pacing my meals & snacks yesterday and drinking lots of water, but I still broke down at 2pm & ate Doritos!!!HELP!
1) Throw out all the junk food
2) Cut up some fruits and veggies and keep them around
3) Keep something that will occupy both of your hands with you.
4) Go outside and take no money with you!
OK, I have to ask. What fruits do you cut up to have around? I love cut up apples, but how do you keep them from turning brown. There must be a way because now you can get them at McDonalds or at the store in little bags and they stay fresh. Is there something you put on them to keep them that way?
Debra
I have cut up apples here at home. I use orange juice or Sprite on mine! Works like a charm.
Can it be diet Sprite? I don't want to add any calories.
:goodvibes
Debra
Cool, I didn't know you could do that with apples!
I will try those tips, but I honestly need to find the willpower to stay away from the bad stuff. It isn't that I don't have the good food, I just don't eat it! :)
I am just going to take a little at a time, at least I am back to regular exercise & am drinking my water, taking my vitamins. The willpower may take some time but I know I can get there eventually. :)
Good Morning Everyone.
I gently stepped on the scale not wanting to open my eyes after I was on, but I did. It read 187, so I'm down 6 lbs. YAY met my goal for the month. Gotta keep going DOWN DOWN DOWN.
DH finally got a good nights sleep, was on his way out to work yesterday for an 8 hour day, got a phone call saying they were canceling the day due to the rain we were having. Not such a good thing to work with energized wires in the rain. Dave sat down took his boots off, got another call to go out on emergency work again. So now I have to take him an hour away because I needed the car, so I had the kids get themselves on the bus, which I don't like to do, but I didn't have a choice yesterday. So at 6:15, I'm loading Jonathan (4) Caitlynne (3) and Mickaellya (1) in the car to bring dad to work. Dave calls around noon to ask if I can bring him some dry socks, so load the kids back in the car, same ones as in the morning, but now Christopher (6) gets to come along as well. He is an hour away again, and I have no idea where he is, so after much turning around and running into road blocks (because of the downed wires) I found him. He had so much, he looks like something from the creature of the black lagoon. Anyway, Ellissa (11) and Taylor (8) had cheerleading practice in two differnt schools, so turn back around and head north to get the girls. Taylor (she is my self-centered child) says "is dad home yet?" I tell her no, that he has to work a 16 hour day. She exclaims " But he is supposed to take my door off my room, so that my new curtain hangs nice". I said to her that at least she gets to come into a warm house, drink cold milk and on and on. And that dad was trying to help them. Than I had to put the Disney spin on it. If he didn't work today, there would be less money for Disney. OH... It's like a light bulb went off and the door was not so important. So this morning he is off to work a regular 8 hours.
Welovedis, I had the same problem as you did, and I forgot who told me, but pick up a project you may have been working on, and do that so that your mind is not thinking food. Thanks to whoever that is, Dave is liking that my sewing to do pile is getting smaller. Ellissa had so many badges to have sewn on her Girl Scout vest, her and I were both surprised to see what she has earned.
I found a 25 oz waterbottle, by Dannon, so I have been really focusing on drinking 4 of those a day. I don't know what it is, but it seems to be easier to drink out of the bottle and remember to do it, instead of using a glass.
Tigercheer, I agree, you do have great writing skills. My Ellissa is a lot like you in this regard.
Cheaper by the dozen is one of my childrens favorite movies. I'm just concerned that they are going to pick up a few ideas from some of those kids, and one day Dave is going to come home from work to find me taped to a tree or something. :rotfl:
Well, I'm off to BJ's I need some willpowere, they have a great frozen cookie dough there, called Godzilla Chocolate chip cookies. NO transfat though. I Pleadge to stay away from the frozen cookie aisle.
Have a wonderful losing day.
Congrats Tracy! Six pounds is great!
I am holding steady, so I need to get more serious if I am going to get rid of that extra weight before our cruise in March (we leave 9 weeks from Saturday).
I have to say it.............I AM BURNED OUT ON VEGGIES!!!!!!
I just can't stand to eat another veggie right now. I went to the store and bought apples. Not as good as apples (calories wise), but much more appealing to me right now. Hopefully I can get past this veggie intolerance and get back to my salads and carrots by February.
I went to the store this morning looking for low calories foods that I would be inspired to eat. Has anyone else found any great new products/snacks lately?
I found one this morning that I really like.
It is 40 calories.
Orville Redenbacker Caramel Popcorn Cakes (they are with the rice cakes at Walmart). 1 cake is 40 calories, so that will be a nice thing to just grab in the evenings when I want a treat. They taste really good too!
Well, that is what is going on here. Any ideas for 'non-veggie' low calorie foods would be greatly appreciated!
Have a great day everyone!
Debra
P.S. Maria: Wasn't that wierd on LOST last night when all those people were out in the jungle. I think the island is one big science experiment and the castaways are part of the experiment.
