Hi, My name is Colleen, I am almost 13. I went on the cruise 3/2nd for 7days on the Magic. It was the best time of my life. If you have questions about the teen activities or Common Ground or anything please post it and I will respond. Have a great night

My daughter is 12 (will be 13 in Jan). But she is very mature. I always say 12 going on 30.) Also here she will have been through her first year of Junior High.

We have been before and she really does not want to do the kids club with the 10-12 year grade school kids. She did it last time when she was 10 and hated it (boring).

She is a little nervous about trying to get into Common Grounds and being with lots of 17 year olds.

She will have some friends on board one who is 13 and one who is 15.

You said you were almost 13 but mentioned Common Grounds. What did you do? How did you like everything? What do you think she should do?

Also for the other teens (13 & 15) with us do you have any hints or things they should not miss.

We are going June 1st.

Thanks so much,
Z

Last year i went on the Wonder 4 day cruise and had a absolute blast! one thing i would say to your 13 and 15 year old is not to miss the junkanoo jam if they have that teen only dance on your cruise, and also checking out the teen beach at Castaway Cay. Also not to be shy about meeting new people, alot of the people on the cruise will be wanting to meet new people also so just try to be open and friendly! if you have any more questions PM me allright? i hope you have fun on your cruise, mine is leaving June 29th, and i can't wait!

tzs, This is Colleen' Mom! She will be thrilled to answer some of your questions when she gets home from school. I do know that the only way Coll was allowed into the Common Grounds because she was within a month of her 13th birthday. The counselor told me they have to be pretty firm about that but you can try. I may be wrong but I believe on our cruise there was only one 17 year old and I got the impression from Coll and her 15 year old sister Meg that the majority of kids were between 13 and 15. They seemed to have alot to do and both my kids loved the cruise.

hey tzs,

i know that if i were her i would not miss the teen place!! it is so much fun and i met alot of cool kids. as my mom said there was only one 17 year old on our cruise and he was nice. are u going on the 7 day? for your 13 and 15 year old id suggest to go to everything and try to be in the teen place as much as possible. i wasnt always in there and i missed when everyone was hanging out and getting to know each other because my sister was so self concious bout wat everyone would think of her but who cares everyone made a fool of themselves!! they really make it an awesome time for the teens. also, on the last day right after supper go right to the teen place because thats when u get Common Grounds cd holders and u get everyones sn's and addresses. Also, there are almost danses every night and they are sooooooo much fun!! definetely go to them!! also, you're usually out really late so tzs dont be worried bout them they arent doing anything bad. i ended up going back to my stateroom around 2:00- 3:00 am!! on the last nite you are out the latest so dont be wooried. i have to go eat so ask more questions and ill tell u more stuff later.Bye Bye

Thanks for the great info. I have a few more questions, below. We are going on the 7 night Eastern on June 1. We went on the 3 night one last time a few years back.

Since she may not get into common grounds (but I can always beg) if she just showed up at some of the activities would they really check?

Do they somehow mark you as teens (wrist bands or something else)?

Since she is going to have friends with that are 13 and 15 I know she would like to participate in some orgainized activities with them.

Thanks again... I will have my DD write this weekend if she has more questions (so far these are all my questions).

hey
i met this girl named missy and she wasnt going to be 13 till august and she had a sister there who was 14. she just showed up on tuesday so the counselers wouldnt ask her any thing and she stayed there for the week and they didnt even ask. if your daughter went in on saterday they would ask her age and stuff like that but just have her wait like a few days then go in on late monday night or tuesday with your other teens. they probably will not ask!! also, the counslers are so cool if they are the same ones i had. they were shannon, karen, and connor. i forgot to say this but tell your other teens (are they boys or girls??) that dont miss the gotcha registration on sunday night at 10. it goes on all monday so u dont want to be the odd one out and it is sooooo much fun. if u want to know wat that is just ask!! any other questions ask if not ill keep writing you with things i remember or i want to add in!!

hey again
i forgot to say on the first day theres a open house at one so u can look around, meet one of the counselers, and get the week navigator just for the teens!! it tells u everything thats going on that week!! also, theres a 411 meeting that night at 10 or 10:30 we went at aroung 9:30-9:45 and a few kids were there and a counseler playing jenga. we sat down and just watched but it was smart that we got there early because if not u will not get a seat!! ( the couches and chairs are real comfy!!) ill write u again on monday because im going away for the weekend!! bye

Hi I'm 10 and have a question.
Do the kids (any age because I'm go with other families in the age 3-4, 5-8, 8-9, and 10-12 groups) go into Common Grounds while there in the Oceaneers Club or Lab?

I'd like to know because I know we go to studio sea and the ESPN skybox.

Thanks Alot

 :bounce: :pinkbounc :earsgirl: :earsboy:

On the 7 day cruise the 10-12 year olds get to spend lots of mornings hanging in Common Grounds (this was in the Navigators for that age group). It looks like that is in the mornings before it opens for teenagers later in the day.

also when the teenagers had dances on board in like studio sea or the ESPN skybox, the younger kids could use the Common Grounds room. But usually if the counselors think a kid looks to young they will escort them back outside of the room.

hey everyone again,

common grounds opens at 12:00pm. most mornings the 10-12 year olds go to common grounds until like 11:30. also, when the teens are at the dances the younger kids are NOT aloud to go in because not all the teens go to them so you are not aloud to go in. any other questions ask!!:bounce: :pinkbounc
