I have no idea. I am simply saying that there are often more issues at hand when parents or adult children, for that matter, make decisions about their loved ones health care. My sister was pretty clear that as health professionals, she and her colleagues are often upset that they are required to perform treatments that, they would never ever do voluntarily under some of the circumstances that these poor people are existing under.
I cannot put myself in the place of this poor girls parents, but I sure pray that if I was faced with the decision, I would not make the same one that they have made. I wonder who is profiting from this decision, because I believe that in this case, someone has money playing a part in the choice to keep this girl on whatever mechanical means that keep her organs doing whatever they do, and I have no clue what that is. Even if the parents do not accept that there is a financial motive to whoever is reinforcing their belief that their daughter is still living, I bet a buck that there is. there always is.
