I guess I was thinking more along the lines that since you knew it would not go over well, it may have been better to stay out of it and just tell them to talk to her directly. The way it stands, she may think you had less than kind intentions and maybe enjoyed telling them that she was the 'bad grandma' once again. It sounds like you two have issues to begin with, that is why I would have stayed out of it completely.C.Ann said:-----------------------------
There wasn't any concern that she would buy the "wrong gifts" and no one was "talking behind her back".. It was just a simple question - "What did you buy and what did 'Marie' buy?" - so they would have an idea of what they should purchase themselves.. They never dreamed in a million years that she would do something so calculated and so entirely against their wishes.. We also discussed who bought what for whom so there would be no duplicates with gifts for the adults either.. It's a normal swapping of lists that goes on every year - nothing out of the ordinary..
Well, it's Christmas time, hopefully everyone can put this behind them and not have negative feelings over it.
by purposely going against the parents clear wishes.
