12/24/08 Christmas Cruise on the Wonder

Congrats on getting your 2 days at WL Adrianna!:cool1: I know you are sooooo excited!
We will be spending the 28th in Dallas Ft Worth. Grapevine actually. Checking out any after Christmas bargins in the outlet mall.
IF you make it to Arts For All Saturday afternoon, stop by the 5th street stage ( in front of the YMCA) 3:30 ish to gee, probably 4:30 or 5:00. I'll be there with Lindsey. Their dance studio is performing, and she is in two of the dances. They are getting ready for their big recital at McMahon Auditorium on the 17th.

Lucky you, not having to landscape. I want a gardener...and a pool boy:rotfl2: Speaking of pool, the guys came and opened it this morning. :yay:

Everyone has a pool here. It's the weirdest thing. Even houses in bad neighborhoods have pools. Now, not everyone has a pool boy or professionals to come open their pools. Some pool salesman must've come through this town and made millions. Balances out the 110 degree days of summer, I suppose.

You're welcome:thumbsup2

I'm still waiting for a price quote for upgrading to club level. TA is waiting for DCL to get back to her. I'm a little concerned that it may be full, but if it is we will just go on a diet those four days, and make it up onboard the ship:rotfl2:
Yucky weather here today, but we need the rain. I'm just thankful I got most of my planting finished.

Good morning. It is cool and rainy here today 44f. I finished planting my perennials and shrubs in my bed in the front yesterday so today is laundry day. Does anyone have anything special planned for Mother's day?

Ok something is not adding up here:confused: I was looking at the DCL website and we are supposed to be at CC on the same day as the Magic. How can 2 ships be there at the same time and I sure hope not because CC is going to be insanely busy if that's the case????

Two ships can't dock at CC at the same time. There is only one berth. I bet the captain changes our itinerary, and we will either do CC before Nassau, or have our sea day, then Nassau, and CC last. I just wish we knew for sure before sailaway.:confused3

When I pull up my actual reservation number on the DCL website, it has the special itinerary listed of Dec. 25 in Nassau, Dec. 26 a day at sea, and Dec 27 at Castaway Cay. This is different than the usual 4 day itinerary which has the last two reversed. Our cruise is actually preceded by two back to back 3 day cruises, I assume so that the Christmas Cruise and the New Years cruise fell on four day cruises. If they had stayed with the alternating 3 and 4 day usual routine, it would have had people boarding a three day cruise on Christmas Day and yuck... who would want to do that. Annette, you are correct that the Magic docks at CC on Fridays (December 26), and since December 26 is a National Holiday in the Bahamas I suppose that is why we dock there on the 25th. It will be interesting to see if the usual shore excursions are offered.

Mostly speculation on my part, but it makes sense to me. I was a big X-Files fan though...y'know... "the truth is out there".

Cheers,
Adrianna

This is the response to an email I sent our DU agent a while back. She had mentioned at booking that this would be a special sailing for the holidays. I was thinking they would modify it, like they did last time we went. She explained what it really meant.

Hi Brenda,

The Christmas sailing is a special itinerary sailing in the fact that it's a 4-night cruise leaving on a Wednesday, usually 4-days leave on Sunday, and then 3 night's sail on Thursday. DCL re-arranged the itineraries over Christmas & New Years so that ships were not embarking on Christmas Day and/or New Year's Day. The itinerary could still be adjusted at the Captain's discretion, but at his time, the scheduled itinerary is as stated online.

I understand your concern about Nassau on Christmas Day. Feel free to call DCL to voice your concerns. Hope that helps.

Good afternoon. We have a break from the storms that have been rumbling through all morning,so I thought I'd pop in and say hi.
Just made a pmt. on vacation, and realized we have 47 days till we can make our ADRs for WDW. I need to get busy as so far, I only have one resturant I KNOW I want to get an ADR.:scared1: I have poured over menus for days at a time, and still can't narrow it down.:confused3 Well, not quite true, I have narrowed it down, to about 5 or 6 choices:lmao: I think alot of it is we usually wing it for dinner. It's back to the menu boards for me:headache:

Here's a picture of the family in January 2008. Most recent I have.

BTW what have I started with the peeing emoticon???

Adrianna, glad to hear you got your two days at WL.

Brenda, I know narrowing the restaurants down is hard. God knows I did the same thing. Are you using the dining plan? What have you narrowed it down to? Perhaps I can help with suggestions if I have been to one...

Heehee here is some pee for you!

All-

What a day it has been in SW Oklahoma. The tornado sirens went off this afternoon. I haven't heard of any touching down, but alltogether a nasty day full of rain, large hail and power outages.

Courtney-

What a cute family. Your DH still has that military look about him. Good stuff.

Take care,
Adrianna

Michael and I were in the parking lot of the allergy clinic when the storm hit the west side. Heavy rain, hail, and wind. Lindsey was home by herself. Once it let up enough to drive Michael and I headed for home. We were at Sheridan Rd and Lee when the sirens went off. Thankfully we were a block from where Dale works, so we went there.I called Lindsey to let her know the sirens were going off so she would go to the safe room.(we live in the country and can't hear the sirens) She was already inside it. She said she opened the front door to see if it was raining, and the wind blew the door open and it smacked her in the face. She saw the wind whipping the trees so she grabbed her blanket and teddy bear on the way to the safe room. The rotation the weathercenter saw was over on our side of town. Thankfully no tornado developed. We got home to find a section of our fence had blown over, and the gate blown off. Michael and I propped the fence up with a couple 2x4's but the gate will have to wait. Hopefully our oldest DS will come fix it this weekend. If not, Dale will have to put it back up when he gets home.
It's a beautiful day today though. Other than the swamp that used to be our front yard:rotfl:

Have a safe day everyone!! We kind of have the opposite problem here. Another foot of snow expected tonight! I am SO tired of winter!!!

 Man that's alot of snow. I can't even imagine a foot of snow, much less in May. When does spring usually settle in up there? Sending warm thawing thoughts your way:grouphug:

Nice looking family Courtney! Not sure how I managed to skip over these posts:confused3

I'm still debating if I want to spend $600 on the DDP. I mean, could we really eat $600 worth in 3 1/2 days?

As for resturants. I know we want SciFi Drive In. DH loves old cars and science fiction,so I'm booking it as a treat for him.
Lindsey is a vegitarian,(who hates veggies) :confused3 I know..lol,so I have to find someplace she will eat. Figure she will eat lots of CS for the veggie burgers and cheese pizza.
I would LIKE to have a date night with Dale. Nothing we need to dress up for. I was thinking something on the boardwalk. Flying Fish maybe? The kids can fend for themselves at Capt. Cooks,or get room service.
Do you think we need to make ADR's for breakfast? If we upgrade to club level, we can do breakfast there without going OOP. If not we will probably eat at Kona Cafe in the mornings.
