12/16/06 10-day holiday cruise Part 2

There is no way we can get there on Friday. DH will have class that day (last day of the semester) and DD has school too. There are no decent flights out of this area on a Friday evening, so we will likely fly in early Saturday morning. Don't know when yet, though. If we get in early enough we could meet beforehand, depending on when and where as we are planning on taking the Disney bus from the airport.

Feeling a little better but still not great. Wanted to go to bed as soon as we got home from the concert but my blood sugar was low so I have to get it a bit higher before going off to sleep.

We are arriving on the 15th. I am not sure what time yet, but we will be there.

Does someone have show horses? I showed for 10 years. Been out of it for quite awhile now, but have a 16.1 Palomino Gelding out of Century 21 that we are ready to do something with.

SHOW HORSES YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

DA GOOSES show arabs way to many years I'm up to 8 horses now 1 rescue 1 tennessee walker 1 meatball well okay arabs

J E n has 1 quarter horse called BOO

GOOD MORNIN ALL GOTS to get moving lots to do MINI MEET here today??????????

Willie- the "stinky beach, was that right at the ship dock or is that Uvero beach? Did you guys eat there? Any recommendations?

We sure aren't a very talkative group today.

Judy, the beach itself did not smell. But when you went out in the water you would get a whiff every once in a while. the beach was called Tequila Beach and they had an inclusive thing that included drinks and you could add quesadillas, chips and stuff for a little extra. The drinks and food were good and they were fast bringing them. We also did a snorkle trip with them that went pretty well. My girls, and some of the other families rented jet skis and had alot of fun with that. So, it was not all bad. There are not alot of choices at CM, and this one seemed to be the best we could find. Ron(Lampy) and his family booked an excursion onboard that took them on a pretty long bus ride to something simlilar to this. Tequila beach has a website, but I am not sure the exact name. You can find it with a search, I am sure.
Some folks went into downtown Majuahual, and it was not much. It is all very close to the ship.
If I went back to CM, I would probably go back to Tequila Beach, just because it was the best of not many options.
The shopping area at the dock is pretty well fixed up, and is worth a look.
I hope this helps.

Hi everyone!

Kat--hope you're felling better soon.

Just found out the kids Christmas break schedule for this year (they'll all be at the same high school). Luckily, the dates match up with the cruise so it's a definate go!!!

Booked our air ( we wanted specific non-stop flights). We are flying down the night before and arriving at 9:20 p.m. We'll be staying at the Embassy Suites by the airport (they have a free shuttle that will take us from MCO to the hotel and they have breakfast). Then we'll take a limo to the port in the a.m. We'll be doing disney transfers for the return so we don't have to drag aroung our luggage. My TA made all these suggestions and reservations for me so hopefully everything will be fine.

Judy

Judy, what limo service are you using? I am looking into options and found a flight out Friday evening that might work for us. Now looking into whether there is an option that is cheaper than DCL transfers for a family of 3.

Thanks!

Kat,

we used Tiffany Town Car for a limo the last two years and it was about $300 I think round trip. We had 4 people in 2004 and 5 people in 2005, so not alot more expensive. The only problem we had was that the limo did not have a huge trunk, and we had to put some luggage in with us. Made it kinda cramped.
But we had good service. They were where they were supposed to be when they were supposed to be and the limos were clean. No complaints.

So Scotty,

Thanks for the info. I am wondering if DCL s beach break to Uvero Beach is one and the same. Uvero being the official name and it being nicknamed tequila for all of us laying on the beach drinking Tequila.

Hi All

Willie, glad you survived your valentine present!!!! Thought about you all day :wizard:

The new boarding process. Since DM, Jeanne, uses a wheel chair we boarded with the concierge group. We arrived at the port at about 10:30, dropped off DM and bags, then parked the car. The terminal was packed by 11am. No line but no seats either. We were boarded at about 11:50 and went directly to Parrot Cay for lunch. I did not hear any complaints about the new system. The new dinner times may please some. We had APL, 5:30 ( I had requested LAP with a start time of 6).

In Dec we are flying down early and spending a few days at WDW, either Ft Wilderness or Beach Club. Then a car service to the port and DCL transportation back to the airport.

GaRry--yes my house is fine if we can figure out how everyone can get here. You mentioned Poly. We love Ohanas and have had very large parties there before ( 70 people) They are very accomodating. New menu is good.

My favorite restaurant is Texas De Brazil on I Drive relatively near Universal.

GaRry--no goldfish only a plecostamus and a large black and white bearded collie. ( Have you seen the ads for the shaggy dog with Tim Allen---exactly like that dog)

I think Uvero is a different beach. That may be the one Lampy went to. When are you sailing the Western?

Kat--we are using Cartier limo service. It was recommended by my TA in FL. We are using them for our June cruise for the first time. There will be 7 of us in June and it costs $174 (that's including the tip) for one way (MCO to port). We chose to use DCL transfers for the trip from the port to MCO so they would take care of the luggage for us. I'll let you know how they are after our June cruise.

Kat, if you are talking about car service to the port from MCO, in '04 we rented a car from Budget from the airport to Port Canaveral. With codes I found on Mousesavers we got a full size for $54 tax incl. We got to the port early and had no problem getting a shuttle over to DCL in less than 5 mins of arrival to the rental center. I also got a hotel room at the airport Marriott for $38 with Hotwire using "biddingfortravel" for guidance. I was really trying to make flying in the night before as cheap as possible. You could also get a airport hotel (again, Hotwire is a pretty cheap way to go)and take their shuttle back to the airport to take the DCL transfer.
I'm glad you're able to fly in the night before. I think I would be crazy nervous if I had to fly in Sat Morn.

Me too, flying with my DM creates enough anxiety for me. The last time we had to change planes, the airline couldn't find her wc (we had checked it at the gate), short layover made shorter cause the flight was late. That gave ME chest pains!!!!!!!!!!! So only non stops from now on AND the day b4. Maybe gaRry will stop by and pick her up for me.

Willie---
We are traveling April 8th. Its interesting because the DCL website still shows us as CZ but someone told me about cruisecal and they show us due in CM. They also show us getting cut short in KW. I love eating dinner and putting the kids in club and then wandering around and having a drink there. Bummer. Actually that is our Palo night.

Thanks for the site. Speaking of Lampskies ----haven't heard much from them here lately. He was over asking about Hard Rock Hotel before cruise. I put in my 2 cents but he looked undecided as of yet.

Breakfast may be pushing it for those meeting buses. I think it is still a character breakfast. (skillet style)

Everybody just bring their sleeping bags and we will have a campout here. :rotfl:
