12/12/10 Podcast cruise 2.0

Wow Cheri! So cool!

Just printed out 2 of the coundown chains for the big kids. They can't wait to make them!

Emily (DD8) cut the paper apart and I assembled the paper chain. It was a fun project. Now, I need to get some of those non-ruining hangers and I'll get to string it up. I'll post a pic when we get it hung (today or tomorrow).

Thanks again Jen! We've always done some sort of a countdown. But, this is the first time we have done a paperchain. It will be a fun visual to see those chains get less and less. That means ... we're getting closer to our trip! :cool1:

This year, we're not sending out traditional Christmas/holiday cards. We decided to send postcards from Castaway Cay as our holiday card instead. With the saying ...

Happy Holidays from the Taylor Family
Wish you were here!

Reminder:
If you want to send postcards from CC, you must have cash/exact change for the postage.

:wizard: Has anyone started their stateroom door signs? I have ours almost complete. Are we having a special Podcast Cruise 2.0 sign or should I just use the logo????? Also, are magnets/magnetic strips still acceptable for putting the signs on the stateroom doors???? This is my Mom's first Disney cruise. She's probably going to think I am batty with all the artwork on our door. However, it will make finding our room easier. :thumbsup2

:wizard: I have our "non-traditional" fish extenders. Since we are from Texas, I found some cute boot stockings. However, Bill thinks they might be too small. The fish extender items don't get too big, do they????? I hope not, because I really like these stockings!

I'm haven't made any new magnets yet. I need to go through the ones from last year's cruises to see what I can recycle. I bought the 8.5 x 11 printable magnet sheets from someone on ebay and they were awesome. Everything stayed put and were easy to cut to size if needed. I know some people have had issues with the rolls of magnets curling or not sticking well and others have said they worked fine.

:surfweb: I love to do Trip Reports. I have started a Pre-Trip Report for our Podcast Cruise and Christmas at WDW extravaganza.

Come on over (it's kind of lonely over there) ...

Check it out HERE.

Perhaps. But Texas small and rest of the world small might be two different measurements. :goodvibes

I went through PCC 1.0's magnets last week. Made two piles. Goes back on the ship and stays in the memory box.

I used the magnet strips. Wasn't overly impressed nor unhappy with its performance.

I am looking to make some different magnets that might function better on the magnet paper. You said you were pleased with it Jen?

Very much so. Even laminated both sides of the magnets and still had no issues with them staying in place. I know Walmart has them, but they are pricey. I think I got 25 sheets from ebay, but I can't remember the price. The seller sold lots of magnets of all shapes and sizes.

Instead of the Magnetic tape found in the craft department at stores. I use the Business Card Magnets that is made to turn a Business Card into a Magnet. It has a stronger magnet and is flat and doesn't curl.

I have started making my door magnets/decorations for PCC 2.0.

I used the rolled magnetic tape and didn't have any problems - but I also put them on my laminated signs at home and then put them on my refrigerator so that they would lay flat for a while. The magnetic tape just off the roll does have a tendency to want to roll back up but putting their magnetic properties to work a week or so before worked perfectly to straighten them out and act right. :goodvibes

If anyone needs a hook for they're door to hang something we found some at Home Depot. I got a new dry erase board (our PCC1.0 finally gave up and started flinging itself across the hallway) that hangs from a ribbon and I'd like to hang it that way instead of putting magnets on it. Found hooks with magnet backs in a 2 pack in the nuts/bolts/screw aisle.

Also picked up some Command adhesive hooks for the bathroom- I like the shoe organizer route but it has progressed from over the door to on the towel rack (so we can close said door) and now it's constantly getting bumped into. I figure the Command hooks should put it flat against the wall with a couple left over for swimsuits.

We are also debating switching from our usual FE to a Christmas one...:santa:

I really need to get busy on the magnets as well, Not sure why, but I just don't feel like doing them this year. I am sure though the mood will hit me soon and I will get them done then.

We are using our regular FE since we like it so much.

Thanks for the magnet / hooks ideas!!

I feel so far behind. I have no idea to put on the door...

I better start thinking!
