What are you guys planning on doing while we are at Costa Maya??
We where thinking about the ruins.

Last time we went to Castaway Cay my wife and I got to sneak over to the adult beach. Wow!!! Now thats what I'm talking about.

My kids loved there program stuff. It was a win win for all..

I haven't even looked at the excursions yet! :)The ruins do sound interesting though.

Did anyone else notice that some web-site show us going to Grand Cayman instead of Costa Maya..?

I wonder what's up with that.....

Well, I for one would be EXCITED if we went to GC! We went there last year (Jan. '04) for my husband's business. WOW! It was before the hurricane and the place was beautiful! Stingray City is a marvel and the beaches are lovely. We love to snorkel and I'm sure we'll just snorkel no matter where we go. After our last 7-day Eastern, we learned the best way to do excursions is on your own. We'll just get off the ship and get a taxi to a beach -- no matter where we dock!

BTW, sounds like we'll be filling the Lab with a bunch of 8 year-olds!

I think we are going to see the ruins in costa maya. Has anyone been there that could give suggestions?

We won't pay off until it's much closer. But being stress free and knowing next year's vacation is already paid for is a very good thing!

We pay ourselves for the vacation ie: we put money each payday into our savings account. Then 60 days before the cruise when Disney wants their money we pay off the cruise with our Disney VISA (earning points!). Then when the VISA bill comes 30 days later we withdraw the money from savings and pay the bill.

Howdy everybody! I haven't checked in for a while. I'm glad to see all the new faces and names. Goofy for Life - It's good to know there will be another one there my daughter's age. Hopefully they will get to be friends.

I just finished reading a long discussion board on taking the kids out of school for a Disney trip. They, and all of you, made me feel better about the whole school thing. And oh yeah, I confessed to my Dad. I can't agree that a trip is as educational as school but I can agree that the occasional trip can be benificial in its own way.

Last I checked our trip is for Costa Maya and Cozumel. DH can't wait to climb over ruins. He has been trying to get me to Mexico for years. We are all really looking forward to the trip.

I can't wait to meet all of you.

I want to see the tulum ones, (I know it is a long trip but I have heard they are the better ones) glad to see there are a few of us going. I have wanted to see some sence I was very little and what an educ. thing for us to take our kids on. What could they learn in school about them that would be better than seeing them and how they were built, Hey I think I will have my kids work on a model and then do a show for the class with a video tape to go with it. way cool thanks minnie

DH and I did the Tulum Ruins in Cozumel when we were on a cruise in '97. It was an excellent tour and our guide was outstanding. He did a great job explaining the history and the mayan influence. At the time we didn't have children but I can see for those with school aged children how this tour would be an excellent educational experience for them. Between the history and then of course the ruins themselves, they can really learn a lot about another, ancient culture. They can learn a lot of things in school but I think hands-on is even better, especially for children!!!

Also hoping to do a ruins tour. Did a project in Junior High and have always wanted to learn and see more about the mayan. So, a ruins tour would be wonderful.

I was thinking of doing the ruins tour in costa maya and the alantis submarine expedition in cozumel. Has anyone done these things How were they?

You must have been looking at expedia. I checked them out the other night & saw the error then looked up our cruise this year. It is a standard Eastern & is listed incorrectly as well. I wouldn't worry about their mess up. DCL's site has the correct info.

We went to GC last year after the hurricanes & that is one reason we switched our already booked western with SPH room to an eastern without one. Definitely not beautiful like someone else saw prior to the storms. Cozumel was also very messed up with road construction along the water that made shopping unpleasant. I sure hope that they are finished with that before we return on this cruise! Someone said that it had been like that for 10 months already...and they were no where near being finished when we saw it.

Hi All-

My husband, daughters, and myself will be sailing on this cruise to celebrate DH's birthday! We cruised DCL last year between hurricanes Ivan and Jeanee and went where the ship took us! We did get to go to Castaway Cay and we were the first cruise back after Frances. I am anxious to see what Castaway Cay looks like "for real". Our older dd had a wonderful time and begged us to take her again. We decided to go ahead and do it because of Flounders for the younger dd. We booked a suite and I am very excited to see what that will be like (this will be the one and only time - DH turns 40 and this is his gift). I am also excited to see the Magic at Christmastime. Should be a great trip!

Erin :)

Welcome aboard! Mrsltg! A suite, how lovely! Your DH has a wonderful wife!

Penny

Mrsltg...welcome!!! Okay, a suite, I'm jealous! I would love to be in a suite one day but the problem is I'm so darn cheap!!!!! LOL. That's why we're cruising in the "off" season, so to to speak. I've heard once you've had a suite, it's really hard to go back. I have to say, having just turned 40, the suite is a great gift. Actually my 40th birthday gift was the Disney cruise we took to Mexico! It was an awesome gift and I'm now hooked on Disney cruises!!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I've heard the same thing about suites - I'm afraid for us it won't be true!!! It'll be either "regular" cabin or no cabin!!! I don't care as long as they bring me Mickey Bars from room service!!! My DH jokes that we'll go to check in to concierge and the CM will look at us and say, "There must be some mistake"!

Anyway, the trip will be a blast. My 1st DD will turn 6 the day before the cruise and my 2nd DD will be 18 months. Thus far the little one is pretty easy going. I am hoping it will continue and she'll be happy whatever we do. I am planning on doing the dolphin excursion with DD6 in Cozumel while DH stays on the ship with the baby. Other than that it's all up in the air!!!

Erin :)

MRSLTG,
Glad you will be with us, how old are your kids? Has anybody decided if they are going to disney world before the cruise. Hopefully we will be there and I think pooh also. Maybe a bunch of us should get together and rent a hummer limo for the ride to the ship. Wounder how many they fit, and cost? Kids and dh would love it, come to think of it I would love anything DH wouldn't have to drive so I won't have to listen to him about the trafffic. Mum of two pirates pirate: pirate: and wife to :firefight

we usually just get a room near the airport (cheap on priceline) the night before but I don't want to take my dd out of school much longer.....but I may just use our DVC points for a studio like I did last year.

We may stay afterwards for a night too...

I like the Hummer idea.....
