I am always playing catch up. Sheesh. If it is/was/will be your Birthday and you are reading this, well, Happy Birthday !!!!!!

AH, just one more thing. It is way past my bedtime. Arrrrrgh!

Who was it that does the DCI shows? Wow. That is cool. I used to be a Big Drum Corps nut. I marched with the Velvet Knights way, way back when. French Horn Bugle. I also played F Horn in Band for about 12 years before Drum Corps. That's why this Band trip will be so much fun. One of the guys I marched with in the French Horn squad in Corps was Jack Kanstul, whose Dad owns Kanstul Brass in Anaheim. I may do a tour of the facility. Would be fun. Zig makes great Horns. I wanna buy one. Please ang, Pleeeeeeeeeeease? LOL.

Wow, at least I got a Top. LOL. It pays to stay up late and talk to oneself.

Once again, g'nite. (Insane Izzy Kid...? hmmmmm?)

DS13, the Lego maniac, was in total heaven in the pick-a-brick section. He bought so many that we had to have them shipped home from the resort before we got on the ship. He had brought a lot of his mowing money without us knowing it to spend there. While we were there we met a married couple with no kids, he had turned their basement into a Lego workshop. The husband had written a computer program to figure out the maximum number of each kind of bricks that fit in each container and how to pack them. He and his wife were sitting there building brick structures to completly line the container. She said he won't even let her in the basement to clean because he's afraid she'll mess something up. We joked with our DS that he might be able to find a wife after all, that will put up with his Lego obession. I try really hard not to go in our basement, it does indeed look like a mad scientist's workshop.

I always bring my big bag and I mean my camera too!

We are stopping off at the Grand Canyon "on the way". It's just a 70 mile one way detour. I got us a room a quarter of a mile from the south rim. I hope to have some great sunrise shots. Then Disneyland by Sunday! See ya next week.
:thumbsup2

Dennis,
I'm guilty as charged. I love DCI, we only get to one each year that is held near us. Last time all the big corps were there, Sana Clara, Phantom, Blue Coats. I always tape the championships (they're on PBS and have been known to watch them repeatedly). Iowa is home the Colts, they are out of Dubuque. When I was in high school I would have done anything to go out for drum corp, but alas, I was a clarinet player. I wanted to do color guard but my parents wouldn't let me do it. If I would have toured in the summer with DCI I would have stayed out of a lot of the trouble I got in being bored during the summer. :) I think it is a great way for kids to gain some independence and learn how to be self-sufficient and disciplined.

Brack,
Take lots of pictures for me. I've traveled to a lot of states but never been to the Grand Canyon. Have a safe trip!!

WHEW! I just placed the order for the kid's egg hunts at school. 80 dozen eggs for the Kindergarteners & 75 dozen for the first graders....plus the goodies to go inside. I already have the rainbow chip cookies for the parties, the goodie bags, & the plates, & napkins. Now I just need to get the juice boxes & some pretzles & we will be good to go! :) Oh, I also have to find some sucker...I mean convince some nice person...to dress up as the EB to make an appearance at the egg huns.

Good thing I don't live anywhere close to you, I always fall for those sucker, I mean nice person things. :rotfl:

LOL! The only way I can get out of it is I am coordinating the hunts & need to be able to escort the classes & hide the eggs. ;) Last year it rained & I had to roll the eggs all over the gym floor one class at a time. This year when I stuff the eggs I will count them out by class totals just to make sure.

We are going to DL next week, we are going again in July with Sweetpea (DD) and I just listened to a message on our phone from a very dear girl who was our neighbor YEARS (1970-1975) ago in Anaheim asking if we could meet them at DL the weekend after Memorial Day and surprise her Mom. :woohoo: Oh, I am so tempted. We have not seen these people for years and we did love them alot. The daughters moved to Michigan (when they grew up of course) and the mom to Las Vegas. We have kept in touch over the years through Christmas cards. Would be very fun to get :grouphug: . And DL 3 times in one year followed by WDW and a cruise! Oh my, I may :faint: with excitement. Gotta talk to DrHug as soon as he gets home....hmm we had talked about converting our hopper passes to annual passes when we are down there so we could sneak in another short trip in the fall. Oh, I'm giddy! Let's see, do we really need new sliding doors, and food, do we really need to eat so much food....

DrHUG - I will let you know if the Jack Sparrow costume smells bad. We still didn't receive the box. It will probably arrive today.

I hope you guys all have a great time in DL. That trip sounds like a lot of fun!!!
