We used the earplanes when DS was one and we flew to Florida. IMHO they block out too much noise. They drove me crazy and they did not seem very comfortable. I have to use them when I fly or I will suffer in pain but I hope I can find something more comfortable.

I thought about those wrap around ear muffs like these:

But I thought he might look a little silly with ear muffs on.

Silly - Maybe.

HOT - YES . . . I wear those things to football games in December on Lake Erie! DS will be sweating!

How about a pair of headphones instead?

He can pretend he is listening to your iPod!

Well, in honor of Andy's first flight......

Have to tell you, it was awesome...didn't think I was ready for it but it felt good.

Elaine, tell your DH that it was soooo cooool what he did..... I was floating a few inches off the ground for the rest of the night....we drive back to Maryland after we left the airport and got some coffee but I didnt drink it, didn't need it...I was hopped up on the excitement!

My DW will say it is the fear of meeting someone who is not what they portray thmeselves to be online. Sort of like someone saying that they are 6'10" tall and built like the governor of California but when they show up the are 4'10" and look like an Ooopalummpah (sp?) or somethig worse!

Now when she meets me, and I am really 4'4", and constantly hum the theme from Hawaii Five-O until it drives others to distraction while running in circles screaming "The British are Coming!" - do you think she will be very afraid?

Thanks Dennis. I used the new Rebel XTi with my big lens. Even with the battery pack it still seems a bit small to hold but I will get used to it.

I like the pictures I have done so far. The real test is next weekend when I do a wedding for a friend!

Dina is fine when I do her hair as long as I wet it first. Curly mops are a pain!! But the problem is she likes to take out the hairties as soon as we hit the car, so if we are going somewhere else, her hair is very,very crazy!!

I did have a question for you guys that is actually related to the trip.

I need to buy some earplugs or some kind of ear protection for DS. He complained last time that the deck parties were too loud for him and as a result we ended up not being able to be in the middle of the fun. He still remembers how loud it was and he is very concerned. Does anyone know if Wal-Mart or someplace will have ear plugs for his age or does anyone have any other suggestions?

Becka, I just used the regular wax earplugs for the kids on our second cruise. They have ones that are kid sized. If you can't find those, just cut the adult ones in half. Simply press them gently onto the ear opening...don't push them inside too much. Any pharmacy should have them.
