Well guys, I need to turn in too.

7:00 am school board meeting.

Then later in the day, the local news channel out of Cleveland wants to come and interview our Superintendent and I about school funding and what is wrong in our district.

We have a levy on the ballot again . . . Because of how our state does NOT fund schools we constantly have to go back to the taxpayers, who usually say no, and we spend time and effort putting it on the ballot for five or six times until they finally say yes.

Our district was rated excellent by the state last year, and we spend $1600 LESS per pupil than similar districts and less on administration than 97% of the school districts in Ohio, but our taxpayers (87% of whom do not have kids in school) will not vote for a levy even though we have not had a new levy since 1996!

If we do not pass, all art and music will be cut to minimums. We are already pay to play, and we will have to cut 28 more teachers. School funding in Ohio is really sad.

I could go on, and on, but I said I was going to bed.

Good night!

How depressing. :(

A neighbor down the street tried to do that but got impatient because of the amount of work involved. The rivots were incredible! He finally sold what he had left with the kit and just bought a plane.

Now that I have caught up I need to run to the doctor. I just need an Rx for more meds & to make sure there aren't any side effects.

I hit Target after dropping the kids off at school & got a ton of shirts for both kids for 1.98 or less!!!! Tshirts were 1.12!!! :) :) :) Quick trip to the grocery store & I was done. I need to unpack that car of the noncold things when I get home & start cleaning the living room carpet. Maybe if I post it I will actually accomplish it? ;)

JoJo is a silver haired toy poodle. About 11 pounds (soaking wet) and 13 years old.

I am wavering about the trip now. We'll see.

I printed the directions to Knoebels and MapQuest says about 150 miles and just under 3 hours. It looks like discussion time tonight. I would love to verify that they do not mind small dogs. That would really make things easier. It would be neat to have the first DISDog at a mini-meet.

I'll let you know how the Low Council votes tonight.

One hour at work and I am already on the DISBoard. Shame on me!

I must need a vacation or a cruise. You think?

Am I the only one not really working or doing something constructive?

OK I'll go back to work now if I have to!

ANGIE!!! good morning! It is early out west.

Can I just ask you all - is it unusual to have a school fundraiser, tshirt sale and school pictures all in the same month?

It's not even the money as much as the stress about getting all the paperwork filled out, checks written, paperwork returned etc.

sorry to vent.

Not unusual at all and I get really mad when the school does that every year. It's gotten to the point where I've just stopped participating in the fund raisers and tshirt sales and only get pictures. Buying pictures for each kid is already too expensive as it is, I can't add in all that other stuff for both kids all in one month. :furious:

If the parents of each child in our district donated $5 we could easily have over $15,000 without all of the hassle!

DH and I COMPLETELY agree. We would much rather crack the school a check than have to buy stuff that we don't really need and ask friends and family to buy stuff they don't need and deal with them getting cranky since they've already been hit up by tons of fund raisers that week as well.
